I'm so dumb:
It's been 17 years since the last Dragon Ball movie, there are 17 movies- Coincidence? What's more the movie comes out in March, the same month that the 10th Anniversary Movie came out. I assume there's a holiday break around that time.

By the way, I'm kinda bringing up an old topic here, but do you guys want this movie marketed as nostalgia or "new hotness"?

I believe this is the 14th movie, not counting specials. And if it matters at all, Akira Toriyama said it will be a mix with the old and new.

I'm counting the original three Dragon Ball Movies, as well as the 10th Anniversary movie.
By the way, key word in my post is 'marketed'.

I want to get the nostalgia feeling when I watch this movie :D but regardless of how they market it, I just want to have a great story and see all the characters interacting with one another again like the Jump Special. I wouldn't mind either a big tournament.(I'm a sucker for those world martial arts tournaments haha)
The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128

Just realized I'd like to see Goku get his tail back. Not for the sake of any transformations or anything like that, but just because I remembered how cool it looked seeing base form Adult Goku with his tail at the end of the last GT ending animation; I always felt that was such a tease. I'd like to see Goku do some silly stuff with the tail again. Also Vegeta would be jealous.

I know this won't happen, just thought I'd mention the idea of it.
On hiatus.

Why can't Toriyama give his most popular character some of Arale's feats ?

Simply because he is not that strong.

Lol but we have no quantification of how strong he is or how fast just fan speculation.

Judging from how the movie is called "Dragonball Z" instead of just Dragonball or Dragonball Kai I'm guessing it's for nostalgia.

I don't believe that any DB/Z/GT character can break a planet in half, or move planets next to other planets just by hitting them once, or throwing other equally powerful opponents to the moon with one hit, or break the moon with a big rock. Why? Because all of these are only possible with gag logic, something Dragon Ball doesn't use on these subjects.

But after seeing what these characters can do, I wouldn't put any of that stuff past them, honestly.

Which characters are you referring to? Dragon Ball or Dr. Slump?

To be honest, I think the whole tail thing is long dead, and the movie's staff have made clear that this will have nothing to do with GT. I do recall Toriyama including a tail in his early designs of Super Saiyan 3 Gokuu, though.
shonenhikada wrote:Why can't Toriyama give his most popular character some of Arale's feats ?
Because Gokuu isn't (entirely) a gag character.

I guess we don't have a official title for the movie yet? The chances are they might change it later on during the year.

He forgot about Launch and Tao near the end of dragon ball. He may have forgotten most of the characters and would have to read back through the manga.

Are we sure he forgot about Tao Pai Pai? Perhaps the reason that neither he nor Tsuru-sennin appeared in the Genki-Dama donation scene was because they were bad guys, therefore they wouldn't have been restored with the Dragon Balls along with the good guys and everyone else.

If you're talking about them not appearing after the 23rd TB, that's probably because the super-warriors had grown so strong that they were no longer threat, if even cyborg Tao Pai Pai was nothing to Tenshinhan by that time, and Gokuu and Piccolo were much stronger than even that.

And I think he mentioned that it was originally Lunch instead of #17 who was meant to appear, but he replaced her with #17 because he was more recent and he was worried that readers may not remember Lunch (don't ask me...). That's why it has #17 saying that he hadn't heard Gokuu's voice in a long time, despite having never met Gokuu.

Has anyone else been monitoring the view count on the YouTube video for the trailer? It's insane! Jumped past 1.5 million in a couple of days.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

Just curious, who here is actually going to fly to Japan to catch a screening of the movie, or are most of us waiting on the announcement of a theatrical run in other countries?
