Would the humans accept being turned into Androids?
Would the humans accept being turned into Androids?
If Bulma had figured out how to turn humans into Androids like #17 and #18, which of the human cast would accept the modification to gain the perks of an Android body (great strength, infinite energy, etc)? If not, would they accept the treatment during a crisis, if the extra strength was needed? The humans I'm referring to specifically are Kurilin, Yamcha, Tenshinhan, Chiaotzu and Videl.
What do you think?

No, definitely not Tenshinhan. It's that warrior's honor. However, I can see Videl wanting to do it...somewhat.

I can see Kuririn and Yamcha doing it. Maybe Videl, not Ten and Chaozu.

Outside of a crisis, I think they’d all turn it down out of warrior honour. Especially Tenshinhan, who’s the most battle-hardened one of them all.

I think this would definitely and only be a "no other option" sort of thing. None of them would do it willingly unless it was the world's last hope or something.

It could have been a nice plot device to give a reason for the Earthlings to still be around and be useful.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Maybe Kuririn, so he can live longer with his wife.

I can only see Krillin giving it a thought.. For #18 and all. He'll be pretty powerful after too.
Re: Would the humans accept being turned into Androids?
I know where you're coming from with the "warrior's honour" thing... but I don't really know how becoming an Android would violate that. I don't really see it as being dishonourable to accept such a treatment, and Kurilin was ecstatic about receiving Guru's power unlocking.
For me, the problem I would have thought they'd have to overcome would be the idea that they'd be losing their humanity by becoming an Android. That's something I think they'd get over if they were needed with the world in danger.
On the other hand, Tenshinhan does seem a little uptight.

They trust Bulma too much to even give that a thought.Saiga wrote:For me, the problem I would have thought they'd have to overcome would be the idea that they'd be losing their humanity by becoming an Android. That's something I think they'd get over if they were needed with the world in danger.

Re: Would the humans accept being turned into Androids?
I think that's kind of the thing, though. Kuririn was fine with Guru's upgrade because it was bringing out power he already had, or whatever. Becoming an Android would mean gaining power artificially.Saiga wrote:I know where you're coming from with the "warrior's honour" thing... but I don't really know how becoming an Android would violate that. Tenshinhan always struck me as a Namekian from a personality standpoint, only he's stuck in a Human body.On the other hand, Tenshinhan does seem a little uptight.
Re: Would the humans accept being turned into Androids?
Tenshinhan is the only one who would accept such offer.
The guy was always obsessed to become stronger and as far as i know, A-18 is a little bit human or else
she wouldn't be able to have kids. Therefore, he wouldn't lose all his humanity, however, that's a moot
point when the only thing Tenshinhan cares about it is training and become stronger.
It is exactly Tenshinhan's pride that would convince him to accept such offer, i mean,
the guy was talking about humiliation just because he lost with Nappa.
Krillin would refuse, because, he is more a family guy type and Yamcha is a playboy, so he would say... no.
Anyway, personally, i think it would have been a magnificent plot device.

Re: Would the humans accept being turned into Androids?
That was because the Great Elder was only bringing out dormant power that Kuririn already had hidden within. Becoming an Android would mean gaining artificial power that they didn't do any hard work for.Saiga wrote:I know where you're coming from with the "warrior's honour" thing... but I don't really know how becoming an Android would violate that. But, to rectify my previous answer, I think that Kuririn would accept it, if only so he could live forever with his wife.

I could see Videl, Kuririn and Yamucha maybe doing it. Boy would that have been a plot twist!

I have to go with Kaboom on this one, as, from what Toriyama said about Gero having kidnapped #17 and #18 for the conversion, it seems to me like it's likely to be an extremely painful process. Although, one thing I've been wondering about...is it possible for #17 and #18 to get any stronger? Because if not, that might stop them from doing so as well.

Re: Would the humans accept being turned into Androids?
You know, the Jinzoningen are 100% human, Just a few parts added on. The power cell that gives them they're own type of ki that makes them powerful. Remember the remote that de-actives them? I think it said Kuririn could destroy 18 when she was off, so there's that. And Gero probably put a chip in they're brain to give them the drive to kill Goku. That or he may have brain washed them.
And no i don't think Jinzoningen can get more powerful, But can learn techniques like 18 learning the Kienzan. 18 may be able to get more powerful from her original human ki though.
But for the human Z senshi, no i don't see them wanting a power cell installed.

Wouldn't they be able to get upgrades and what not? I'm sure Bulma could do a bit of tinkering here and there.. Heh.

Well, Blooma and/or Dr. Brief said that Dr. Gero's technology was so advanced that even they didn't entirely understand it, so the only thing that they could do was build a remote control to deactivate them and take out #16's bomb. Presumably, they couldn't alter them in any way, even accounting for their potential lack of time.Jackal puFF wrote:Wouldn't they be able to get upgrades and what not? I'd go with Kuririn and Yamucha, although the latter would probably do so with reservations about it affecting his appearance toward women.
There is no Dragon Ball canon.
