Same here.Metalwario64 wrote:Exactly what I was wondering. I'm surprised so many people are quick to believe this.kei17 wrote:How can I believe her anyway?
I guess it's because a lot of folks here genuinely want it to be dubbed so badly, they'd believe it was if it were said in some random post, even without a credible source.
Personally, I ain't buyin' it. Unless FUNimation comes out and says otherwise, the way I see it, they didn't license it and they certainly didn't dub it.
Toei isn't in any position to do that. The JSAT special is owned by Shueisha.AnimeMaakuo wrote:I didn't think Toei would let FUNimation release it?

I don't tend to believe people on the web unless they have some proof. If this info is true then cool news, but I feel like that they are bit late now. They should have done this like a year or two after the special came out.

It's entirely owned by them but Toei commissioned to do the animation.jpdbzrulz4sure wrote:Toei isn't in any position to do that. The JSAT special is owned by Shueisha.AnimeMaakuo wrote:I didn't think Toei would let FUNimation release it?
Haven't paying attention to this a little bit lately, the JSAT special could have a price on that as I can assume that the release would happen eventually.
Because of its shorten length, it'll be placed on some future Dragon Ball video game as a "bonus DVD".dbboxkaifan wrote:I couldn't care less if this gets an English dub but if it means a home BD/DVD release then great, I'm interested!

I'm not 'buying' it per say. You guys are right, the words of one random person on Facebook is hardly any proof at all. But, I do plan to keep my ear to the ground as it were, to see if we here more like this in the future. If it keeps coming up from time to time from different people and cons, then there could actually be something to it - again, kinda like those YYH OVAs that had rumors for over a year before we finally got confirmation.

At this stage I'd be happy with just a proper release in Japan that I could import.

The DVD that was released in Japan is very easy to get ahold of. There are normally 3-4 on Japan Yahoo Auctions at any one time.Kingdom Heartless wrote:At this stage I'd be happy with just a proper release in Japan that I could import.

Re: Did the JSAT special get dubbed already?
Even if you don't care about the dub, you should want this. It'd be infinitely cheaper than importing the current version from Japan, and it would actually have subtitles. At max it'd be $20, assuming they don't pair it with Episode of Bardock and/or Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans.

Almost always over $100.Kingdom Heartless wrote:Really? How much do they usually go for?

Re: Did the JSAT special get dubbed already?
I only got mine for about 3000yen & it was complete & sealed. This was only last year so unless they've shot up in value they're not that expensive... for Japanese DVDs that is...batistabus wrote:Even if you don't care about the dub, you should want this. Re: Did the JSAT special get dubbed already?
Well, dub it unless having the license bought is something that certainly did not happen. Every time you do an adaptation, first thing you do as company is to buy the license and rights.
Then you finally go and hire people to write the script and dub it.
Don't see Funimation or any other company doing something like this for fun.

Re: Did the JSAT special get dubbed already?
It's not necessarily related, and could in fact have more to do with an eventual Dragon Ball Dragon Box release, but there is this - http://www.toonzone.net/forums/anime-fo ... KKUlVHwlrA - too
I'm reading into it a lot with this guess though.
And from Lance Heiskell, an employee from FUNimation:'I don't suppose anything [you can speak publically of] ever came of that Dragon Box survey/poll?'
Just the way the response is, makes me think the 'something cool' isn't the Dragon Box, since that's 'still being worked on'. So the 'something cool' could very well be this, maybe?'Still working on it. There will be something cool for next year.'

I hope it's the Level sets. Just Saiyan.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
I wish they'd re-dubbed even the original series with the level sets. Just so everything would be consistent.

Re: Did the JSAT special get dubbed already?
Wasn't there supposed to be a Dragon Ball re-release next year, which was revealed through Derek's attempts at getting FUNimation to use the Harmony Gold materials he obtained? Maybe that's what Lance is referring to, or is my memory completely faulty on this subject?Gyt Kaliba wrote:It's not necessarily related, and could in fact have more to do with an eventual Dragon Ball Dragon Box release, but there is this - http://www.toonzone.net/forums/anime-fo ... Re: Did the JSAT special get dubbed already?
That'd be the first I'd heard about something like that (I am more of a lurker here though), but who knows. I dunno why they'd re-release DB again though, unless it was for a Dragon Box format, since the Season Sets for that weren't nearly as panned as the DBZ sets were.Metalwario64 wrote:Wasn't there supposed to be a Dragon Ball re-release next year, which was revealed through Derek's attempts at getting FUNimation to use the Harmony Gold materials he obtained? What kind of release for it would have Harmony Gold materials though? A set that also features the old edited dubs or something?
Semi lurker apparently...cool, 1000 posts! Only took over 5 years to get there.
