I don't know, I really enjoyed Episode of Bardock and the Super Jump Special. Kai may have been disappointing but not all recent DB releases have been.dbboxkaifan wrote:Eh, same was said for Dragon Ball Kai and look what it turned out to be.Kendamu wrote:I think that we're in for something really awesome.
I have low expectations too. DB is somewhat the CoD of anime, with every hyped new release there's a disappointment.

I personally liked the Episode of Bardock way more than I should have. :lol The 2008 special was funny on its own accord.
I have enjoyed most DBZ movies with very special exceptions but overall they don't let me down. I doubt this own will. ;D

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
I'm feeling pretty good about the movie right now. They've set it in my favorite time gap, my two favorite characters are in the promo art lineup, it's got a brand-new plot-line, and the research I've done into some of the announced staff members has yielded pleasant results. (Especially the one guy who did those 4 Sailor Stars episodes; those were good!).
If the Goku and Vegeta interaction is similar to the type I saw in the 2008 special, I'm in for a treat. X3
(And if it's like the type from Movie 12 I'm in for an even bigger treat.)
Honestly, I think my worst fears for this movie (Recap film, Buu abridgements, and DB Heroes OC's Mary Sue-ing it up all over) were put to rest pretty early on.
Even if the final product turns out to be only moderately okay, well, no big deal. I'm enjoying the ride at the moment just fine.

Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
I'm not sure what I expect for this movie. I'm not hoping for quality cinema, I just want to have a good time. A few laughs, a few "holy cow, that's awesome" moments and I'm good. The fact that it's Dragon Ball and the characters are there is already enough to get me excited. The rest is just gravy.
As I've said before, I'm hoping for this to be like Trigun: Badlands Rumble. Set in a gap, not really going to tell us anything new about the characters, but putting them on a fun ride that reminds you just what you love about the characters.

DB has never been state of the art, but I hope the movie is not forgettable and has a good story. You cant tell before hand if a movie will be good or bad (with some exceptions) until you see it. Something tells me when this movie comes out then we are going to have a big shit storm on if the movie was really good or not. I seen it happen on other forums when a new movie comes out.

I don't have high expectations for the plot, but I do hope beyond all hope that the animation is top-notch. If Toei didn't dick around we could finally see some high quality animation from the current generation of super talents, beyond Shida and Kurita's work on Ultimate Blast's opening.

I don't expect too much from the plot as well. I just want the art and animation to be the best it could possibly be. Specifically the fight scenes.JulieYBM wrote:I don't have high expectations for the plot, but I do hope beyond all hope that the animation is top-notch. Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
I realize, given the rushed Video Games and the less-than-satisfying "Kai", there's good reason to be wary of this new movie. But for my money, I absolutely adored "Yo! Son Goku and his Friends Return" with all my heart, and if this new movie is even remotely like it at all, I think I'll walk away entirely satisfied.

Well seeing the animation that is right now, my expectations for that is to the lowest it can be haha. Here for the story.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:I don't expect too much from the plot as well. My point still stands: My life wasn't flipped upside down due to Kai not being everything I ever wished for. It was just a TV show.dbboxkaifan wrote:Eh, same was said for Dragon Ball Kai and look what it turned out to be.Kendamu wrote:I think that we're in for something really awesome.

I think the movie could be good, but I feel like that this not going to be the epic movie as fans have been waiting for. Let's wait and see. I wonder if we can call this movie DBZ Movie 14 or not since it's the first full length DBZ movie since 1995?

DBZ Movie 14 would be correct IMO.

I forget but will it be animated by Shindo Productions? Yeah since the 2008 Special is not really DBZ Movie 14. It was not released in theaters and is not even over 30 minutes long. I still remember people from 10 years ago talking about a secret rumor of a 14th DBZ movie back on the early DBZ Internet forums and they end up being false. 10+ years later, it's finally happeningsoulnova wrote:DBZ Movie 14 would be correct IMO.

It's kind of confusing what's actually a film and what isn't of Dragon Ball without decent sources.

I wonder if a parallel universe idea can work for this movie? Maybe have a evil doppelgänger of Goku that came from a evil universe that some how came into the DB world that we all know and love.

There is no indication they will. Yamamuro Tadayoshi is currently an in-house Toei Animation staffer, I believe. Shindou Productions does still exist, though. Shindou Mitsuo has currently been a key animator on One Piece, so it's likely Yamamuro will ask his old mentor to do some key animation. I'm not sure about any of the other Shindou Pro animators, though.DBZAOTA482 wrote:I forget but will it be animated by Shindo Productions? I've probably said this before, but Oonishi Ryou hasn't been on any of Toei's series' lately. If he isn't working on One Piece Film Z, I'm hoping he is working on Dragon Ball Z.

Wouldn't Nakatsuru and Hisada also be involved as well? They are pretty good animators too.
Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru's #1 biggest fan
Re: Mystery Jump Countdown: New DB Movie Confirmed!
Nakatsuru, possibly. He's shown up on One Piece a few times this past year. Hisada is pretty busy on One Piece, acting as a key animator, animation supervisor, and character designer. It's not impossible, but less likely.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Wouldn't Nakatsuru and Hisada also be involved as well? They are pretty good animators too.
