I do hope that female character in the bottom left-hand corner is Videl with a new haircut and outfit (both of which look pretty good to me), because I like Videl and she should actually have her time in the spotlight rather than being shoved aside almost immediately after she was introduced in one arc because she’s “just an Earthling”. Not to say that her appearance on that poster means she’ll be doing anything of worth, but…I can hope.

And no, I don’t like the idea of Super Saiyan “Mystic” Gohan, but at this point, I just don’t really care either way, as long as the film itself is entertaining. Fuck “canon” debates, because I’ve long since grown tired of them. And since film posters are just meant to be promotional material and some previous DBZ posters aren’t always included in the actual film, maybe they just used SS Gohan because he’s more of a grab than the less known black-haired “Mystic” Gohan.

Don’t have much to say about that “rabbit/cat god”, other than that he looks…interesting. And YES! I see Mr. Boo in this! I guess that kind of makes up for his unexplained absence in DBZ Movie #13.

I'm not really sure why a lot of people are complaining about the potential villain's design. Odd looking villains is nothing new to DragonBall. Personally I'd much rather this than another hulking giant like we got for 6 of the last 7 Movies (7 of the last 7 if you count Janemba's fat form as a "main" villain). I think this villain more-so keeps in with something Toriyama would design as a villain for the Z-Era. His main villains are typically not as threatening looking as the ones in the Movies. That's what makes villains like Vegeta, Freeza, and Cell so beloved.

That bugged me too for a while with Movie 13. Why didn't Mr. Boo participate?
Then I saw the 2008 special where it clearly shows that he just doesn't care, he's with Mr. Satan during the fights, not having any reason to get involved.
So we'll see if he's willing to fight in this movie, he may have a good reason if Mr. Satan is in danger.

The girl in chinese clothing is Videl, the characters are placed by family: Satan's family, Goku's family (or Satan's family + Goku's family = Gohan's family), Bulma's family, and then the other characters in the background (Piccolo, Tien, Krillin, Yamcha).

Why should he if the powers go like this: Base < Super Saiyan < Super Saiyan 2 < Ultimate Gohan??!

That's not how it worked, Ultimate Gohan is not a form per se.

The Ancient Kaio Shin extended his power, and it happens that to achieve this power or any in-between power, transformation is not necessary anymore.
He doesn't need to transform to be a Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2 or more, that's what Ultimate Gohan is.
It's not a gradual Super Saiyan, then Super Saiyan 2, then Ultimate like in the games.

The Ancient Kaio Shin tells him that to access his powers, all he needs to do is "just like for transforming in Super-thingy".
Then Gohan does it, and Goku says "you haven't changed at all physically, you're not even in Super Saiyan".
And the Ancient Kaio Shin replies "Transformation is not the right way. It's an impure state".

So Gohan would have nothing to gain from transforming, yet nothing to lose either except being in a physically "impure state" which is a notion the Ancient Kaio Shin doesn't like (there's no mention of such thing as "wasting energy"). And since the ROSAT, Gohan has learned to be perfectly at ease with this "impure state", without strain on his body, mind or any form of energy waste.

So there's no problem there, but the thing is about the fact that he told him he had to do "just like for transforming into Super-thingy". Assuming Gohan tried to turn into a Super Saiyan, it would mean he actually couldn't anymore. But it's possible that he actually found it to be a subtle difference in the way to trigger mystic power or transformation, and can choose either one at will. Question is: what could be his reason to prefer transformation over non-transformation, for a same release of power?

Anyway, it's also possible, as some of you guys mentionned, that it's just for the poster: having Super Saiyans reunited is more appealing for the general public than having all Saiyans transformed... except one. It's kind of an appealing trademark, so it's good for promotion.

Shin Budokai & Shin Budokai 2 agree with you. In both story modes, he could go Super Saiyan, Super Saiyan 2, and Ultimate.

I'm rather digging the off-kilter design of our new antagonist(?), actually. It doesn't look entirely out of place for "Dragon Ball" (but then, given the wide range of visual design seen in the franchise, what would at this point? XD), but it's also pretty clearly distinct from anything else we've ever seen up until now. I'm also sort of fascinated by the little hints of Story we get here; given the title and our purple cat-friend's clearly Ancient-Egyptian-inspired clothing, as well as what looks to be another figure floating in judgement at the center of it all, I have my own guess as to where this is going, but even if it's dead wrong, I'm still very interested by this.

I'll believe that Goku is fighting Usagi Yojimbo in this movie when some official site has that poster. Until then, I'm skeptical.

My best theory is a pretty simple one. Perhaps if he's fighting in public and not as Saiyaman, he doesn't want people to recognize him. As a result he transforms and becomes the "Gold Fighter" again to protect his identity. I mean, it's not like everyone knows that he's the true Saiyaman after the Budokai. So his identity could still be an angle.

But really, if Toriyama's behind it, and has come up with some interesting and unique explanation (as he has been so wont to do with other things) that happens to let things in GT better tie into everything else... then I'm all for it.

Of course, this is still assuming the poster's for real.

It's a lot more likely Gohan is a Super Saiyan here because they wanted him to fit in with the other Saiyans.
