"Dragon Ball in the style of..."

Post by Gonstead » Sat Dec 01, 2012 5:19 am

Okay, here's a game I just came up with for us to try out.

Basically, you start off with this opening "Dragon Ball in the style of..." (sans quote marks), next you must name it in the style of something else you have watched and make a comment about the combination and if you'd watch it or not. A Brief synopsis of the concept is also highly recommended so others can get an idea of what the series would be like

I'll start us off.

Dragon Ball in the style of... Cromartie High School

The story follows the everyday life of Son Gohan and his odd classmates at Orange Star High School, an infamous school for delinquents. He has completed the enrollments and hopes to lead a healthy and academic life... there's only one problem though as the entire school is full of delinquents and they're frankly creeping him out. However, With friends like the robotic Tori-Bot (Mechazawa), a giant gorilla, a muscle man from named Jackie (Freddie) and a clan of delinquents with mohawks that flow in the wind, how can anyone not enjoy high school?

Would I watch it? It's an interesting concept and I'm a big fan of CHS, so yes I'd watch it and probably laugh my ass off at it as well.

Now you can try! This also includes DBZ (And GT if you REALLY want to).

IMHO it makes sense just in case if we give a brief synopsis of potential series. There's no guarantee that others even know what you are writing about. But it has a potential as a humour thread.

Dragon Ball In Utena Style
It started as a regular shouen series- young, intelligent yet naive Goku joins martial art academy. The only thing that reminds his past is a glass ball with stars, given by long lost Princess Chi-Chi he saw once and now want to find again. To honor his memory he buys clothes in girls stores and claims to be a princess but sill manages to look breathtaking beautifully so everyone wants him. On his very first day he sees Bulma- The President of the Student Council- bullying her boyfriend Vegeta. As a naive, yet good-hearted boy he interfere and win thanks to help of said boyfriend. There are the good news. The bad? Vegeta claims that since he won, they are now engaged. The ball is revealed to be a Dragon Ball- token send by mysterious End of the World, that allows the owner to take part in duels to win Vegeta's hand, heart and power he wields. The last standing winner will go to the mysterious Kami's Palace floating in the sky and summon magical dragon that will give him or her a power to revolutionize the world.

Who is the End of the World? Will Goku and Vegeta overcome all difficulties? Who was Princess ChiChi and what happened to her? Why nothing seems to be what it seemed? Why there are no two fans who agree what had happened? What is the sexual orientation of anyone here? Is it a yuri or yaoi classic?

In spite of limited budget and ridiculous premise the series Shouen Kakumei Goku become a cult classic, grain a lot of fans and fame of highly erotic series without showing a singe nipple. And it had lots of stunning fights too, but who cares?
Per aspera ad astra, man!

Men belong in the kitchen.
Everyone belongs in the kitchen, the kitchen has food

Dragon Ball Z in the style of Yu-Gi-Oh

Raditz comes to Earth because somewhere he heard news that his brother had the rarest card in existence, "The Kamehameha". He comes to Master Roshi's island, and steals it (instead of Gohan) from the house while Goku's away.

Goku comes back, and Roshi tells him what happened. Piccolo was behind the tree, spying on the whole situation too. After he reveals himself, they both fly (Yes, they'll still be able to fly, just because  ). Piccolo also wants to steal "The Kamehameha", but he realizes that Raditz's deck is too strong for him to beat it. He teams-up with Goku, and ...

IT'S TIME TO DUEL.

Raditz: 8000 LP
Piccolo & Goku: Both 4000.

Hm...it would be interesting, maybe =D ?

Dragon Ball in the style of Naruto.

Son Goku is a troublesome orphan whose parents died sealing the One-Tailed Oozaru inside of him, he is constantly ignored and shunned in his village as many are afraid of the beast inside of him and they refuse to acknowledge him. Son Goku is struggling with his Ki control at the academy and builds an instant rivalry to his classmate Vegeta Uchiha, who is constantly the center of attention and a genius in comparison to Son Goku. However things take a turn for the worst when Son Goku is thrown into a team with Vegeta and Son Goku's crush Bulma, who just happens to be crushing on Vegeta herself.

I'd most probably watch it to be honest, if only to see how all the other characters fit in. I could definitely see Chi-Chi as Hinata and Roshi as Jiraiya.

Dragon Ball in the style of Angel Beats!

Son Goku is a teenager who died, and lost all his memories when he went to the afterlife. In the afterlife, he meets Bulma, who invites him to join her underground resistance movement that fights against Kami-sama himself, as revenge for the cruelty he lets run rampant in the world. Their main enemy is Chi-Chi, who they believe is an NPC but is actually a real human, and later joins the resistance. Other allies include Kuririn (Hideki), Dr. Brief (Takamatsu), Yamcha (Noda), Lunch (Eri), Panchi (Yusa), Tenshinhan (Fujimaki), Eighter (TK), Yajirobe (Matsushita), Chaozu (Ooyama), Kame-Sen'nin (Chaa), and Piccolo (Ayato).

They are also assisted by the band Maximum the Dead Monster, consisting of the All-Seeing Crone (Masami), Sno (Yui), Mai (Hisako), Pansy (Miyuki), and Ranfan (Shiori).

I'd love to see a Majin Boo story with character designs by Tim Burton and music by Danny Elfman.

I've never watched Utena before, but after reading that synopsis I'd so watch Eire's DB version of it. X3
(Goku'd be the best martial arts princess ever. ^u^ )

Ok; here's what I've got; Dragon Ball in the style of a monster-of-the-week sentai series.

Saiyaman's job just got harder. When Towa and Miira show up in present-day Dragon World seeking Goku's DNA for nefarious ends, they begin using their monster-creating death-masks to attempt to lure him out. In order to combat these giant monsters and return the possessed items and people to their original selves, Gohan and Videl recruit Piccolo, Vegeta, Trunks, and Goten to form the Great Saiyamen Ultra Force.

At the halfway point of the series, Bulma creates costume power-ups for everyone that results in even more fantastical sentai outfits. Goku spends most of the time trying to sneak off to join in the action, but is repeatedly shot down by other characters as by entering the fray he'd be giving Towa an easy chance at getting what she wants.
On hiatus.

Hmm...I'll have to get back to you on any ideas of my own for a DB in a new style though. *thinks*

In the style of Panty & Stocking with Garterbelt. Vegeta and Goku are two Saiyans banished from their planet for bad behavior but can get back in collecting Frieza coins by exterminating evil Frieza warriors. But Goku cares more about eating as much meat as he can and Vegeta cares more about sleeping with every woman around. Their rivals Nappa and Raditz show up to have evil schemes. And they're very foul mouthed in English with Vegeta especially spouting f-bombs a lot and are assisted by Kami who now has an afro.

Dragon Ball in the style of Neon Genesis Evangelion

A coming-of-age post apocalyptic story centered around Son Gohan, as he stands as a reluctant hero hired by the Z-Senshi and he has the potential to be the world's strongest but he is severally psychologically crippled by the death of his mother (Chi-Chi), who tried to nurture and protect him with what little they can support, in the hands of the Shadow Dragons and the neglect from his father (Goku) who now spends almost all his time training, as to calm himself of the tragedy. As a result, he is very much a pacifist. Instead of there being references to Christianity, there will be references to Buddhism.

Videl can also be Asuka Langley Soryu

Bulma can also be Misato Katsuragi

Haiya Dragon can also be Pen Pen

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

Dragon Ball in the style of Elfen Lied. A few seconds into every high-powered battle, the combatants clothes get destroyed and they spend the rest of the fight naked with their willies flopping around. Also, blood, blood everywhere. And Goku is a super warrior created in secret by Freeza to be the ultimate soldier, but his head injury on Earth left him with a personality split between naive bordering-on-special-needs kid and and darkly bloodthirsty machine-like Saiyan. Damn, this was meant to be a joke, and then something with some sort of potential came out of it. We only ever see the dark side of Goku for a few seconds at a time, during which he always massacres his enemies, but when the other, non-brain-damaged Saiyans arrive he starts to remember some of those incidents, and when Freeza murders Kuririn he snaps and the murderous personality takes over completely.

I can see Piccolo using a Fiend themed deck (Summoned Skull etc).

Raditz would probably be the one running the warrior deck.

Goku I'm not so sure about.

I can see Vegeta being the more likely subject for being Kaiba.

Like this - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=svSxPYjXrqU

Listening to that clip, Eric Stuart would make for a somewhat-decent Vegeta if he used that voice.

I assume some of you will know this one.

Dragonball Z as done in the style of the dubbed version of Speed Racer:

Here he comes. Here comes Son Goku. He’s a fighter with fists. He’s a fighter and he wants to be the strongest in the universe.

As we would hear it:

Narrator: GokuhasjustdiscoveredfromhisbrotherRaditzwhohedidnotknowhehadthatheisaSayainwhocametoEarthwhenhewasveryyoung.

Raditz: IamyourbrotherRaditzHAHA! IcametolookforyoubecauseIrememberedthatyoucameheretodestroytheEarthwhenyouwereveryyoungHAHA! AlsoHAHA! yournameisKakkarotandnotGoku!BecauseKakkarotisyournameHAHA!

Goku: WAAH!Itcan’tbetrue!Youarenotmybrother! AndmynameisnotKakkarotitisSonGoku!AAAH!

Raditz: HAHA!But it is!HAHA!AndnowyoumustdestroytheEarthorIwillkillyoursonofwhomIhavecapturedHAHA!

Goku: NO!ThatismysonGohanthatyouhavecaptured!AAAH!

Narrator: Whatwillourherodo? FindoutinthenextexcitingepisodeofDaragonballZ

“Go Son Goku! Go Son Goku! Go Son Goku GOOOOO!”

What was said:

Narrator: Goku has just discovered from his brother Raditz who he did not know he had that he is a Sayain who came to Earth when he was very young.

Raditz: I am your brother Raditz HA HA! I came to look for you because I remembered that you came here to destroy the Earth when you were very young. HA HA! Also HA HA!, your name is Kakkarot and not Goku! Because Kakkarot is your name HA HA!

Goku: WAAH! It can’t be true! You are not my brother! And my name is not Kakkarot, it is Son Goku! AAAH!

Raditz: HA HA! But it is! HA HA! And now you must destroy the Earth or I will kill your son of whom I have captured HA HA!

Goku: NO! That is my son Gohan that you have captured! AAAH!

Narrator: What will our hero do? Find out in the next exciting episode of Daragonball Z

“Go Son Goku! Go Son Goku! Go Son Goku GOOOOO!”

Hell yes I would watch it. And laugh my a$$ off while doing so too!
