Unlike Abo, Kado, and Chilled I actually feel like I can take Bils and Whis seriously.

That egg that Birusu was holding in the trailer, the egg that I initially thought he used his magic to turn into stone; I think he actually turned it to sand; there's a later shot of sand seeping through his fingers and I think that might be what used to be the egg.

That'd be an interesting little power for him to have. Maybe he can cause things to waste away with his touch, kind of like a more deadly version of the Midas touch?

I believe that Gohan can either power up into Ultimate or transform into Super Saiyan. But powering up into Ultimate and transforming into Super Saiyan on top of it would be too much. Besides, the Super Saiyan forms draw power from one's dormant power. Since the Ultimate power up draws all the dormant power, and even more, it doesn't make sense to have an "Ultimate Super Saiyan" form. For GT though, Gohan just lost the form.

The new website looks awesome, and the new trailer looks even more awesome. Even if Piccolo & the Earthlings get beaten up, I still like the fact that we will see them back into action. And it seems like that Goku will loose in the New Kaio Planet, and in Super Saiyan 3. Gotenks will probably fuck around and loose due to time out, and Gohan... maybe he lost the Ultimate power up, so that Goku will shine? I also hope that the hidden figure will be a new transformation for Goku, rather than Vegetto or Gogeta. Super Saiyan 3.5, or something like that. Bils and Whis don't look like transforming guys to me. I guess that if Whis is actually a Makaioshin, then he would be just a weakling, with Bils as his pawn, or something. And why are Pilaf & co. look a lot younger, rather than older? Maybe they are their children?

Really looking forward for this, though I will most likely watch the movie in 2014... I guess I'll have to rely on spoilers.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Really...? It is stated right there in the manga. The elder Kaioshin, after unlocking Gohan, tells him to power up just like he does when he wants to turn SSJ. He does, and instead of turning SSJ and having blond hair, he remains the same, but the power he brings out is much larger than ever before.

So yeah, he tries to go SSJ in the manga and he fails to do so. He just brings out his power. So having him go SSJ without an explanation is an inconsistency, especially when they can explain it 3 seconds, by saying that his magical power up worn off with time.

This is probably been mentioned before but since there are still people who are not aware of this, I think it was best to mention it again.

I'm still confused about Gohan being blonde again and I really feel like they won't explain it. I loved the shot from the trailer with Master Roshi looking like commanding the others to attack. And I guess were going to see fighting in space again huh? Air is totally in space in the dragonball universe.

I dunno if this was planned by Toei, but apparently there might be two links to GT shown in this movie:

- SSJ Ultimate Gohan
- King Kai's New Planet, which was rarely shown in GT

Not sure I agree. It's certainly possible and Toriyama could have changed some stuff between the info appearing in the SEG and this film, but the tree doesn't exactly seem to fit with the guide's description of the whole location;
Inside the giant ball that is the DB cosmos is a world called Planet Kaishin, which is where the Kaio are all born and raised. This planet is like a giant version of the Kaio Planets that North Kaio and the others live on. On it is a gigantic tree(s), the Kaiju, and the Kaio are all born from the fruit of this tree, as Shinjin. The population of this planet is about 80. The Shinjin are genderless, and their average life expectancy is said to be 75,000 years. They live leisurely lives, studying various things at a school-like castle.

This looks amazing. So excited for it!!! The best scene so far is when Roshi commands the rest to attack.

Thank Goodness that Goku has his symbol back. I was missing it so much ;_; *tears of joy*

Birusu looks like a really cool villain. I love his design; he looks comical in the one screenshot of him against the pink sky, but he also looks very menacing in the rest of the clips he's in. So awesome.

Isn't North Kaio just on the rooftop of the White House... aaah... I mean, Dai Kaio's mansion in GT?

Unless that Kaio Planet seen in the trailer is really Planet Kaishin, where the World Tree is supposed to be located according to the SEG. It seems bigger than North Kaio's Planet in SSJ3 Goku's scene.

At the start of GT he seems to be on Grand Kaio's planet, but by the Super 17 arc he's living somewhere that looks just like his old planet.

For some reason, I'm not really bothered by Gohan having Super Saiyan. I normally would be, but I always thought he looked cool as Super Saiyan with that outfit and hairstyle, so I liked the few artworks with him like that when I was a kid, so it's kinda nostalgic, and I suppose I'll let that one slide.

Kaio's planet better have an explanation though. If not, then it's a huge oversight.

Animation's pretty weak, but looks better than Episode of Bardock and the Plan to Eradicate the Super Saiyans animation at least. I'm looking forward to it.

Also, what's up with Nozawa's "KAME HAME EYAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH"? Hope it was a rough take rather than her age catching up. :(

Yeah I noticed them, there are about three in the clip and they all explode for whatever reason.

OMG! That went by really fast; I really didn't notice that.

Hourglass time-bombs; that's really cool!
This is the kind of absurdity/common-sense-violating I hoped to see in this movie.

Have to go with MetalWario that the animation didn't blow me away, the differences in shading almost clip to clip and some ancient-looking bits (Why did they pause on what will quite possibly be the worst shot of the villain duo in the entire movie?) but then I think that's the benchmark Plan to Eradicate the Super Sayains and Episode of Bardock set brushing against the fact that Dragon Ball is a cash cow property and will only get so much money.

Otherwise hyped. Curious to if the Super Exciting Guide tidbits are building this story or if we're getting new cosmological implications.

I too, wasn't too fond of Masako Nozawa's "Kamehameha" at the end.

Yeah right. I really need to rewatch GT, I'm starting to forget details...
He seems to be back to Grand Kaio's during the Universal Genkidama though, if I recall correctly.
