Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I like the prequels. Great plot, great music, great fights...awful acting. It's even more painful than sitting through the first act of the 1977 movie!
Anyway, I love that picture of Super Saiyan 3 being stopped. Since it looks like the final fight will still be between Gokuu and Birusu in space, I wonder how Gokuu's going to win if Super Saiyan 3 is useless?

Has there been any images of the front cover of that pamphlet online yet?

Some of the performances were fairly wooden. One that sticks out is one of the pilots from PM.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Awful acting? Like what?JulieYBM wrote:I like the prequels. I'm disappointed that they did not include Chichi and Ox King character introduction in the pamphlet.

Sorry but seeing Revenge of The Sith in theaters was better then the time I found out the girl next door to me thought I was "hot". Back OT if this is a success then I wonder if it will create another DB boom.Rory wrote:Sorry to break it to you, but you don't. You just think you do. So taking this latest pic of Bills seemingly humbling SSJ3 Goku so casually, where does he theoretically rank in the bare minimum? Is there any character (hero or villain, filler or canon) who can pull off a similar feat?
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
It's really nice, but just too long.penguintruth wrote:It has an astoundingly detailed, intricate, well-crafted world filled with creative ideas and colorful characters, and its narrative is more consistent and well-developed than DB's.MCDaveG wrote:Never understood what's so cool about One Piece. It definitely isn't bad, but to be this awesome?
And I don't even like it that much, either. I have a tremendous respect for it, though, and especially of Oda.
I watch it from time to time, and I was willing to make it a new collection of mine.
But at this rate, it's going to be more than 100 manga volumes and more than 1000 TV episodes, all of it without an important asset of Dragon Ball (which I hope will be used again in Naruto): having the heroes physically grow up to show the on-going evolution, and that time goes by, that you're much further into the story of those characters' lives when at volume 25 than when at volume 5. There's the addition of new crew members to help that, but that's not the same to actually break the story into several evolution steps.
But it is indeed a great story with a great universe and great characters that have a kind of craziness and magic to it, I can confirm that even when I haven't read the manga nor seen more than 50 episodes and a Movie Anime Comics I bought. It's just compelling, inviting you to a journey in a world that does feel very, very big!
But having a series that's so long without "steps" actually translating to physical aging of the characters, it's pretty discouraging for newcomers!
Of course it makes sense that given the story, it would be hard to say "all characters took a break and the adventure actually continued when they were 25".
It's a great series, but it requires a huge commitment and a good amount of courage to throw yourself for such a long ride before knowing the ending!
But seeing the One Day opening of One Piece, I was so thrilled at seeing what seemed to be an "adult Luffy", he seemed so mature in that opening that I actually thought they were about to announce "five years have passed and Luffy is now a mature young man"...
I hope Naruto will have yet another grow-up break in the future, because the jump to Naruto Shippuden was already a great thing!
That's why I like the fact that Battle of Gods happens in the Majin Boo era (or rather, a little afterwards), because having seen those characters grow up to end up having their families, wifes, kids, kids having girlfriends, etc, it just feels like... a family reunion everytime, not only for them and whatever they'll be celebrating in that movie, but for us fans with them as well.
It's a feeling very unique to Dragon Ball for now.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I imagine Super Vegetto, Evil Boo(+Gotenks or Gohan), and possibly even Ultimate Gohan would be able to do it.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I'm always happy to see more but I keep saying it, I'd rather watch a movie set AFTER the end of the manga. This is the third feature set after the battle with Buu already.
Being stronger that Super Saiyan 3 Goku? Oh definitely. Being able to simply stop him in his track with one finger? I very much doubt that. Those you said are strong but none are THAT strong. Not even Super Baby 2 was shown to be able to do that, or at least he did nothing that implied he was capable of such feat.Saiga wrote:I imagine Super Vegetto, Evil Boo(+Gotenks or Gohan), and possibly even Ultimate Gohan would be able to do it.

As for time skips, I don't see how they help in getting into the story. For one thing, OP recently did one. And another thing is that it doesn't really need them. OP does not need superficial changes happening to the characters. There's more character development to individual Straw Hats than many of DB's cast combined.

As for the prequels, they are okay and I don't tend to re-watch them anytime soon. Back on topic, Kibitoshin and Elder Kaioshin are going to be in the movie then I think we would know by now. I always enjoy those two characters on screen, but I won't cry about it if they never show up.

Just like the original trilogy, I'd watch the prequels over and over again. It never gets old, really. I really enjoy the adventure aspect in the first two episode and some action stuff in Revenge of the Sith.
The only grip I have is the heavily criticism from the folks on the prequels. I don't see the reason to dislike it. I just dont. Actually, it doesn't matter because the people kept making Star Wars break record at the box office. It's obvious they love it, because they kept giving their money to watch the prequels.

Let's keep things on topic please. George Lucas isn't writing the screenplay for this movie.

It is kind of a shame that the Kaioshins probably won't get much screentime in this. After the fusion Kibitoshin should be decently powerful so I'd like to see him fight. I'd like to think that after the Buu saga Old Kai probably unlocked his potential, but seeing Gohan I guess that's questionable.

Jump Festa (and the BOG movie panel) is less than 2 days away. *_*
*Feels like she's been waiting months for this.*
What are your expectations for the panel? How much, if any, new information do you hope to have revealed? Is anyone here on Kanzenshuu forums going to Jump Festa?
I personally want to know more about Birusu and Uisu's powers along with what sort of scene is behind movie-tie-in toy/figure Vegeta's expression/pose. I also want to why Pilaf Gang is tiny.

We'll get the official release of the latest trailer (which wasn't meant to get leaked yet).Chuquita wrote:Jump Festa (and the BOG movie panel) is less than 2 days away. *_*

That's why I'm hoping for the Elder Kaioshin appear and he might explain why Gohan can turn SSj. Maybe they will make his Mystic transformation similar to a SSj form like the Budokai games did.Storm101 wrote: I'd like to think that after the Buu saga Old Kai probably unlocked his potential, but seeing Gohan I guess that's questionable.

Vegetto could easily stop SSJ3 Goku with a finger. I'm sure they all could. I not even sure Bils even did. There doesn't look like to be struggle. He could be holding him up with a finger. We can only assume what he's doing.DNA wrote:Being stronger that Super Saiyan 3 Goku? Oh definitely. Being able to simply stop him in his track with one finger? I very much doubt that. I would think the Kaioshin would be in this film. They make more sense then Kaio does.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

He's obviously asking Goku to pull his finger and Goku is angry because he already fell for that one a hundred times and he's finally catching on.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.
