Weird Poster Error

Post by t-bone135 » Wed Mar 01, 2006 8:31 pm

I've had this poster up for the longest time in my room, and I just noticed this stirkingly odd fact about it today. Take a look:

Image

Look at the red line and tell me what you see. Yep, Tiens left arm is significantly shorter then his right, (or right then left, but you get the idea. :P )

What's up here? :)

EDIT: This is cropped just so you all know.
Best. Slip 'n' slide. EVER!

Maybe that cut across his chest had something to do with it.

It kind of gives an impression that he's leaning to his right slightly. Do you have a pic of the whole poster?

The artist screwed up the non-covered shoulder. As a result, the whole arm is larger, and therefore longer for consistency.

Actually, I think he screwed up the forearm of the covered shoulder. It's too short. Later on, if I have time, I'll draw something to help me prove my point.

EDIT: Heh, I just saw, he drew the legs too short too!

I had that poster, it's all kinds of fucked up. If you look closely at Gohan, and Chiozu, both of their left arms are shorter than their right as well.

Edit:
As well, look closely at Tenshinhan's head and tell me if you don't see that it seems to look cone-ish, and juts out to the left.

Is it just me, or if you look really close you can see that both Gohan and Chaozu's right arms are also a bit long?

Edit: Answering the phone... 15 minutes. Realizing you forgot to hit the submit button... priceless!

Per the request of tarsonis, here is the entire poster.

Also, if you look at Piccolo's cape, he has a lot of fabric down there by his feet.

Edit: And just so it's easier to see, here's a zoom up of the standing characters.

Heh, funny stuff. "Maybe it grew back wrong." Put a smile on my face. :D

Anyway, I got around to making a quick sketch with where they went wrong, even though its blatently obvious T_T.

Nice, Saiyan. Sadly you didn't take into account the major fuck up of his dome. Make that priority for another image! :D

It looks like Goku is flipping me off. That dude cannot draw worth a flippidy-doo-da...actually, he draws the same skill level of a newbie to drawing. (I have absolutly no idea what I just said, so I'm just going to smile) :D .
Even I became a loser when I made one of these...

Yeah, I've always thought that excact same thing.

Speaking of Goku, doesn't it look like Goku's right hand is about to flick Tenshinhan's head off?

I also have a really weird thought of all the characters standing on a cliff and Goku the giant standing at the bottom with only his head visable. . .

(Yeah, I also know that last one was really lame. :P )

He can draw, do not confuse yourself. However, the correct concept for this matter is 'well'; which this artist cannot do. He, or she can imitate the looks so that from a distance the characters look just as they should, but like we've done, under close scrutiny we see the person is lax on justification of elements.

There is a difference.

Indeed it does, with just deserve. Because, as you may know, that isn't Tenshinhan; oh no, it is merely a Conehead doppleganger. (If you may not know what a "Conehead" is, look up the film by that name on IMDB for answers.)

I was just looking at the Tenshinhan design, again, and one thing struck me. It looks as if the artist drew his upper torso first, and then added in the legs after he/she drew the characters that appear in front of him; and then in doing so established the ground, and distances between each character.

If you think about it this way, the artist drawing in the legs the way he/she had was probably the result of not taking the ground into account before drawing Tenshinhan-- thus limiting the stature of his legs. (Likely so as not to have to redraw the entire section.)

One could see such as cutting corners, and possibly thinking that no one would scruitinize it to the point of noticing the flub up.

Another possibility is that simply he didn't want to draw the hand so that part of it is behind Chaozu. >.>;;
