Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

And now we know how the movie is going to end. Goku will defeat ol' Billy Bob in food eating contest.

Ahhhh, I'm so excited now!! I absolutely love Videl having a big part and I don't care what kind of a big part, although it would be awesome to see her fight. But other than that, Bulma's birthday, at least a Dragon summoning at one point, Chaozu and Tenshinhan showing up, Goku and Vegeta beind mysteriously absent from the party, and a big fight in orbit of the Earth :p And I haven't even mentioned the Pilaf gang that somehow meshes into all of this :p I'm really sorry, but Gohan's hair and his mystic powers actually are something I couldn't care one bit about.

It's an actual story guys Not like the 13 Dragon Ball Z movies (altho some had pretty decent stories, number 8 and 13 come to mind as at least trying) where an enemy shows up, there's some fights and eventually they are defeated. I think Movie 7 is definitely the worst offender here, with the Androids, although I did still kind of enjoy it :p Even the JSAT special has a simple story, even though it was such a charming story :p

But this... this sounds and FEELS like Dragon Ball, like actual quality Dragon Ball. I am beyond excited I wonder how I am going to watch this, seeing as I live in the Netherlands Last time we had an anime series movie in theaters was Pokemon 2000 I believe And of course "the original version" is probably going to be the English version and not the Japanese version... don't know how I feel about that yet :p

Ar~~rg, I belatedly noticed that the person in the Jump Festa report Kei posted a few pages back who says Bilus is strong but has a playful side is not Toriyama, but Bilus' voice actor Kouichi Yamadera. He was referred to simply as "Yama-chan", and my brain must have automatically inserted a "Tori" in front of the "yama". Sorry. Corrected now. Yamadera also notes that the battle scenes were so intense he had trouble keeping up with the lines (another bit I glossed over on my prior reading).

I thought this a few times ago, but the reason Goku was defeated Bils could have been because he was hungry. And then he found Bils' temple stocked with fish and other food, and faced Bils again, finally defeating the God of Destruction.

The clips I saw from OPZ...the idea that equally amazing stuff might be found within BOG...it'd be incredible.
Even if I am more of a fan of character-stuff, I do enjoy battle-candy. That stuff in the very last OPZ trailers was insanely cool. Hopes tentatively held high.

I was wondering the same thing. It's a shame he wasn't at the Festa, then we could've got a picture. He was probably busy playing Dragon Quest or something.

I hope they eventually put the non-pixelated versions up on the movie's site. Kind of like what they did for the '08 special. Also hoping Goku and/or Vegeta get special movie-only outfits too, even if that's starting to look unlikely. I really liked Ossu's Farmer-Goku. I'd like another new outfit for him.

As far as the 'women in DB always getting shorter hair as time went on' thing, I'd never heard it being a personal preference of Toriyama's, but I also wouldn't doubt that it made it easier on him too. Same reason that a majority of the character's have the goofier spikier hair, rather than the few people with more normal looking hair like Trunks and 18. I know for me at least, drawing normal hair is HARD. Spiky hair is a looooot easier. If it's that way for Toriyama too, it fits his style to go for the easier solution.
