I do hope Fox would have FUNimation dub the movie for them, and my gut says they will. I'm not 100% up to speed on how such things work, but I'd imagine it'd save them a good deal of trouble and money for casting. Besides; a new live-action movie is one thing, but I think Fox would realize that when it comes to the original animated characters from a long-running and STILL-prominently on TV (via Kai and what-not) franchise, people are already going to be expecting the characters to sound a certain way.

I like the rock music too (it's how I first got into Disturbed and Deftones), but I don't think I'd like to see that happen again.

I'm still partial to the song that plays when Goku and Cooler first start to fight (The Game by Disturbed, I think) and the one playing during Goku's transformation (Change by Deftones). I can't hear either of those songs without seeing the scenes playing in my head, even today.

I have to agree. Cooler's Revenge is definitely one of the movies that had a good selection of Rock-based songs to them and good placements as well.

A thread I had about those songs that were put into the movies back then, if anyone wants to track down the appropriate CDs (which I'm still in the process of doing myself).

I agree, we're fans of the same series, why is our viewing experience have to be so different. This is especially annoying when it's not our decision.


As for the rock music itself, while it's cool (I guess), it's just that. Cool. Something awesome in an AMV or some sort of re visioning project done by fans but not something I want to see in an official product. Basically my feelings to the Faulconer soundtrack.

Not what I meant at all, that's just an AMV. I meant actual DBZ footage with Queen as the sountrack, not a Queen song with DBZ footage as the clip.

Vegeta's Jump 08 character profile remains on top for my favorites; I know that the BOG character summaries are just the general stuff w/nothing new in them, but in lieu of actual plot-updates I decided to try and translate Vegeta's to see if it was at least written in an entertaining style like the 08 special's ("And not just about fighting." indeed. XD ). It's not. I like how BOG's mentions that he's got "fortitude" though. Especially when one of his only scenes in the trailer is of him freaking out at something. :3

When it comes to Goku facing off against Bils (or however is appropriate to romanize it), what are you guys hoping for? A dramatic speech? A long, but well done fight? Something short but sweet? Or, are you hoping someone else takes the win from Goku?

I'd love a speech telling Bils off for trying to destroy the Earth, but that wouldn't be Goku.

I'd suggest Vegeta as an option for the winner, but Vegeta isn't allowed to win against major villains that amount to the end game guy.

So, if they choose Gohan, he's deserved to be the guy delivering the final kill in the series for a while (He should have killed Buu...then again, Gotenks before him should have as well >_>).

Any of you guys want someone else other than Goku to win? Love Goku, but he's won enough. XD

He's fighting gods; you've gotta go Madoka-tier for that sort of thing. :3 Even if the power-up is only temporary (and possibly dangerous to the user?)
A Vegeta win would be awesome, but the chances are small. I'm hoping he plays a big part in getting that win though, even if he can't claim sole victory.

Birusu and Uisu's name puns! If you write their names in kanji, you get:
初州 - First sandbank (can also be used for island or province?) and that "Bi" could be 尾 (ending/result/outcome) so: 尾初州

They're the "beginning" and the "end". (The alpha and the amiga. XD )
That's the pun. (I think?)

Though if I'm correct, this means there really won't be an easy way to figure out what the official spellings for their names are until Toei or Shueisha romanizes them somewhere.

I've been looking up kanji on a whim and was reading part of the textbook where it's talking about how hiragana was originally derivations of actual kanji and even though Uisu and Birusu's names are written in katakana, I decided to try it out and see. Their name puns are much more subtle than what Toriyama would normally go for if my theory about the names turns out to be right. That's some puzzle. X3

I understand what you mean; I'm still fond of "Virus" as Birusu's romanization, but if the pun isn't English-word-in-Japanese, than I guess I can't call him Virus anymore.

@Chuquita: How did you get 初 for "ru"? That's not really a standard reading as far as I can tell.

尾 for "bi" is more interesting ('cuz he's got a tail), but probably still a coincidence.

州 is one of many kanji that can be read as "su". It doesn't seem particularly relevant.
