Forum E-mails

Post by DNA » Mon Jan 07, 2013 10:15 am

Right, this has been happening since ever and it's a little bit annoying, it happens to me at least. I get the e-mails from the forum telling me there's a new reply, sometimes Gmail groups the ones from the same topic all in one e-mail, other times it separates and branches them, the result is that I get my box cluttered with e-mails from the same topic. Is this something from you or Gmail?
Also every now and then when I access the site from the e-mail, the site asks me to log on again, even though I've got the "keep me logged in" box ticked, forever. These are just minor annoyances but they annoy me anyway.

You would have had to specifically check a box somewhere in your user options asking to be e-mailed when there are new replies.

Threaded reply chains in Gmail are just how Gmail works. Nothing we can do about it, and nothing you can do to change it in Gmail. I can't speak to how it's distinguishing what's a separate chain.

This was not a question I asked.

Yeah it's just really weird, it randomly decides to separate a chain, at first I thought it did it when a day ended, but nope, it's just random.

Any clue about why the forum logs me out sometimes? It just does it every now and then. It's odd because I'm sure the site keeps me logged in, it just happens some times when I access the forum from the e-mail.

So basically your complaint is how Gmail organizes the e-mails you get? That has nothing to do with anything on our end. The forum auto-generates those e-mails and sends them to your account. From there, it's up to your provider (in this case Google) to determine how it wants to handle it.

If you don't want these e-mails at all, then you need to unsubscribe from topics or alter your user settings like VegettoEX suggested above. If you do want the e-mails, but are upset with how they're organized in your e-mail, then that's solely on Google.

Yeah I've got that already. Again, any clue why I'm logged out sometimes?
