But yes, Ashley Tisdale is actually a brilliant choice for Bulma, as is Sarah Silverman for Chaozu.

I'm not gonna lie... I'm a little disappointed nobody agrees with Rip Torn as Mr. Satan.

Re: All Star Voice Cast
The DragonBall anime would cause some problems for most of the well known actors and actresses from Hollywood. Can they deliver the lines? What about emotion? Can they portray the characters properly? If they can't, then don't dub it... That would be just a huge step back from 1999.

They act for a living, so yes. Nobody is going to be thrown out of their depth by a Japanese cartoon.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:The DragonBall anime would cause some problems for most of the well known actors and actresses from Hollywood. This thread isn't a discussion about whether this should happen, whether it will happen, or whether it can happen. The thread's premise is based on that this is happening and we choose castings from realistic to hilariously jokey, as stated in the OP.

Well they use mainstream actors to dub the Miyazaki films and those dubs are fine. And this thread is simply a discussion of a hypothetical situation for FUN!DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:The DragonBall anime would cause some problems for most of the well known actors and actresses from Hollywood. Re: All Star Voice Cast
The only stunt cast I'd really like is Danny Devito as Oolong.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I've said it and I will say it again. It will not work. The actors/actresses from Hollywood will not mesh well with DragonBall, hypothetical or not.ringworm128 wrote:Well they use mainstream actors to dub the Miyazaki films and those dubs are fine. Hypothetically, ones who could work would be more character actors who do live action shows and movies as well as animation voice over. Guys like Clancy Brown, Tim Curry, Keith David, Brent Spiner, Hank Azaria, Lauren Tom, Dan Castelleneta and the late Tony Jay.

I'm watching House right now, and I can't help but imagine Hugh Laurie as a few characters, but mostly Tenshinhan. Maybe I'm just weird...
Oh, Ryan Gosling as Zarbon seems like it could work.

I can't believe this is on-topic.

I can picture Patrick Warburton (Joe on Family Guy) voicing Piccolo.

Re: All Star Voice Cast
When I think "all star VOICE cast" the first thing that comes to mind isn't Hollywood actors/actresses. It's been said many times by VAs in the industry that most celebrity actors who get roles in animated films tend not to do a very good job due to the fact that they're not used to acting using only their voice. Obviously there are exceptions but that seems to be how it is. I think it's easier to get away with it in high budget Disney/Pixar/Dreamworks films because the animators do most of the acting to compensate for any lack of emotion in the voice acting but in an anime like DBZ I think it would be a disaster.

Re: All Star Voice Cast
Pretty much this. They don't do voice for the living. Not only that, but Dragon Ball is a complicated series. Every character has an unique personality. There are a lot of emotional scenes. You gotta make the scenes believable. If they can do that, great. But the FUNimation cast is well known by everyone, and that's what they should be using. Even it took Funimation over a decade to fit Dragon Ball almost perfectly.NitroEX wrote:When I think "all star VOICE cast" the first thing that comes to mind isn't Hollywood actors/actresses. Oh and Anne Hathaway as Chichi could be good.

Anyway, here's my All Star Voice Cast. I mostly decided to stick with well known voice actors as opposed to movie stars.
Neil Patrick Harris as Goku
Adam Baldwin as Piccolo
Paul Eiding (Roy Campbell from MGS) as Kaio
Michael Rosenbaum as Vegeta
Clancy Brown as Cell
Mark Hamil as Buu
Chris McCulloch as Freeza
and David Hayter as Bardock
My thought process here was more influenced by the Japanese dub than any of the English dubs.

Not that this character will be in BOG, but I think he'd make a better Nappa.ricecake wrote:I can picture Patrick Warburton (Joe on Family Guy) voicing Piccolo.

Re: All Star Voice Cast
Actually Adam Baldwin isn't related to Alec Baldwin. It's just coincidental they have the same last name. Adam Baldwin was on Jackie Chan Adventures and Firefly, and various other movies.
