There's a website around here somewhere so you don't have to remember everything... Where could it be?DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:Can't remember the name off the top of my head.
Anyway, the movie's CG Director is Naoki Miyahara.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Oh, Miyahara, how it saddens me you jumped ship to CG.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I read the makers of Kanzenshuu are from Japan. Can you guys record videos of the movie for us if they are on TV!? It's not fair we don't get to see them.

Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Well, a quarter of the Kanzenshuu team live in Japan. The other three quarters live in the United States, and only half of the team has ever even set foot in Japan. But that's beside the point. While Julian does live in Japan, he doesn't always have the time to record everything that pops up on TV. We typically wait until something is officially released, or makes its way onto the internet through other means. I am actually more concerned that people keep saying that it's so unfair that Japan gets access to what is native to their country. The internet has corrupted the thought of what is fair, and what isn't, through it's near immediate access to almost everything. When something isn't immediately available, people "think" it's "unfair", when really it's just because they want it too. It's just as "unfair" that U.S. sports aren't shown globally on every other country's main television networks. Conversely, the internet is actually catching up with this train of thought, giving us things like simultaneous manga releases.
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
While the process of recording/uploading the commercial may in itself not be difficult, it's a lot harder to actually catch it to start. It's not like with TV shows where you know when it's gonna air. Nobody's going to just sit there and watch Fuji Two all day waiting for the commercial. You could try to be there only while other Toei series are airing and hope the commercial airs during those shows' breaks, but even that's a gamble.SSJ6Goku wrote:I read the makers of Kanzenshuu are from Japan. So basically, you either need to be really lucky or super-dedicated-with-loads-of-spare-time. For something that's just a commercial, I feel it'll probably inevitably be uploaded onto the official movie website anyways, so I'm not too worried.

Who's the other person that's been to Japan? Hope that's not prying at all, just curious.Hujio wrote:and only half of the team has ever even set foot in Japan.
I'm sure that commercial will be up anytime now too, and I'm really getting hopeful that we're about to start to get a LOT more teasers and the like put out, seeing as how starting tomorrow, we'll be scarcely a month away from the release! C'mon Toei, I'm ready for everything you want to give me.

I've been slowing down on reading or watching anything to do with this movie. that way it's not ruined for me and it will be a magical experience
that's why i had no idea who that fish was a page or two back.
not that there is anything wrong with discussing this movie, I just didn't want to beat it to death

Have a look around for the podcast episode that's dedicated to the story of his attempt to see the 2008 Jump Super Anime Tour Special. It's classic.
Damn noodle machine.
By the way, the new preview is just a TV spot, right?

It's just a commercial is what I understand.
Now that the whole thing is in the can so to speak, Toei may (hopefully) begin revealing more clips.

It's hard to tell for sure right now, but I'm hoping the animation in this truly is done well. When it comes to modern day DB animation, the only thing that really satisfied me (mostly) was the 2008 Jump special... Plan to Eradicate seemed like it was done pretty well, but something about it bothered me. I don't know if it was detail on characters, backgrounds or what but it didn't look as good to me. Same goes for Bardock. I'm hoping they put a lot of effort into making the animation look really spectacular on this. Think back to how good the last cel-animated movies looked. Movies 12 and 13 are particularly beautiful.

Here's an interesting thought, (I can't remember if I've said this already) How will Funimation handle the soundtrack to this movie if and when they get it? Will they go back to using rock scores or will they stay true to the original Japanese score? I could only imagine people at Funimation thinking ''We can't have this Japanese Sh*t around here''
but who knows..they may just keep it.

... regarding Funi's dub (if it ever happens)... I think they'd probably just use the Japanese score. They've been pretty good about doing that in recent years.samuraix123 wrote:Here's an interesting thought, (I can't remember if I've said this already) How will Funimation handle the soundtrack to this movie if and when they get it? Getting the original background music is a given, I'd say. FUNi's learned their lesson.
How they handle the vocal songs is up in the air, though. FUNi's been pretty 50/50 about either recording English versions or leaving them in Japanese. They do seem to have something against "Head-Cha-La," though. They kept it in their dub for the FUNiBoxes and about half of their movie releases, but replaced it on the "mainstream" releases of the actual series (even on the English-with-Japanese-music track).
If they do stay committed to making English versions of the songs, they might finally have to acknowledge "Head-Cha-La" when/if they get the film.

I have to ask but how soon after anime films leave theatres do they hit dvd? I'd be curious to know when One Piece Film Z does, since that'd be a good barometer for this film's release.
I assume after it's on dvd that Funimation will try to license it, and maybe put it in theatres.

We are likely not going to see the movie be released on DVD and Blu-Ray in Japan until at least around fall time. It's a shame that Toei never puts English subs on their DVD's.

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

If I'm interpreting this correctly, then it looks like they'll be re-screening the older DBZ films in the lead-up to BOG.

That's kinda awesome.
EDIT: Just to elaborate, there's a link on the page that leads to Skyperfectv, so I assume this is for television broadcast.
