Afterlife?
Afterlife?
Why is noone on par or stronger than Goku in the afterlife? It seems to me that some people would have been there for millions of years meaning the would undoubtedly be leagues above Goku. So why is there no master martial artist that way out classes everyone?
Re: Afterlife?
Could be. I would think though being granted your body, then maybe you have a choice of when. Or it could be a limit of say 10,000 yrs.
Re: Afterlife?
Don't worry, as the old saying goes: 'There's always somebody stronger than you out there!'', and if you apply Akira Toriyama's ''There is no true canon, you decide your own...'', there could very well be someone stronger than Goku. I'd imagine the ladder of Gods is still steep.SSJFinny wrote:Why is noone on par or stronger than Goku in the afterlife? That time your teacher asked you to draw Cell in biology class.

To be perfectly honest, I couldn't care less about the fans a re-issue might alienate because if all they're concerned about is being able to scalp the people who were either unaware of the Dragon Boxes or couldn't afford them at the time, they're just leeches and deserve to have their greed backfire on them.

I thought only the bad guys got reincarnated. Hm.Fox666 wrote:It seems that everybody would eventually reincarnate, so there maybe nobody stays for so long.
But yeah, I just chalk it up to Goku being a Saiyan, and having gone through everything he did.
Re: Afterlife?
Even though I don't believe that there's a hard limit on becoming stronger in Dragon Ball, I think it does get harder and harder the more powerful you get, and also that there may be limits on what sort of training you can actually handle. So while it's technically possible for someone to keep improving forever, it may be that, even with all the time in the world, catching up with a genius at getting stronger like Goku may be too difficult.

Re: Afterlife?
Did Goku actually say that there's no one stronger than him in the afterlife? If he said there's no one "on par" with him for him to try the fusion dance, maybe that actually implies there are people way stronger than him (thus he can't try the fusion dance with them).
Re: Afterlife?
It's pretty much a theme of latter Dragon Ball that the Saiyans have gotten too strong for the rest of the Universe to challenge them, especially Goku. It reminds me about Toriyama's comment about Battle of Gods, where he had run out of ideas for what could be a challenge for the heroes until he thought of the God of Destruction.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
Re: Afterlife?
He does say that there was no one on par with him. I've never thought of it that way. I guess to me when someone says "no one's on par with me," they don't mean to imply that there are people stronger than them, but maybe it's possible.Marco Polo wrote:Did Goku actually say that there's no one stronger than him in the afterlife? Of course, if that were the case, wouldn't Enma be recruiting those people instead of saving Vegeta as a final resort?

When did he say that?Fox666 wrote:Rou Kaioshin also mentioned that Goku, Vegeta and Gohan are the 3 greatest masters in the universe...

Well I guess that settles it then... They just happen to be the strongest fighters in history. It's not unheard of in fiction to have the main characters be as special as this.Fox666 wrote:Chapter: 504 (DBZ 310), P9.2-3
Context: as Vegetto beats up on Gohan-absorbed Boo
Kaioshin-Kibito: “H-he’s strong!!! Majin Boo there is helpless!!! To think that merging with the Potara would be this incredible…!!”
Elder Kaioshin: “Idiot, it’s because it was those two that they were able to go so far. Two of the top 3 masters in both the living world and afterlife have merged, after all. What’s more, two rivals have joined together. That’s definitely strongest.”
I can only assume the third one is Gohan.
Re: Afterlife?
I wonder how strong Goku and Vegeta could get after just 100 years of afterlife training...
Or maybe they'd reach their limit long before that.
