Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

There's too many pages here, I did make it to about 150 though. Was there any discussion on a potential United States release for this Battle Of Gods movie? I know it comes out 03/30 in Japan, but things here take a lot longer. Especially if there is still no word on Funimation's end.

Heck, all of the other 13 movies took a whopping TEN YEARS to reach this country!

Which seems likely in my opinion. This movie is likely to ignore GT just like how Prometheus ignore the AVP movies.

No info yet. We might not see it until next year at the earliest. 2015 could be possible as well since it took two years for each Rebuild Evangelion films to be released here in the US.

No info yet. We might not see it until next year at the earliest. 2015 could be possible as well since it took two years for each Rebuild Evangelion films to be released here in the US.

I guess my fantasizing will not stop until next year!

I just HOPE they don't pick the wrong soundtracks for this movie (Funimation).. I do like Cooler's soundtrack (and Return of Cooler), but just better not make it like the Broly's. Whats with the barrage of metal music? Doesn't fit.

I don't think they'll be 'choosing' anything soundtrack wise. They'll probably use exactly what's there in the Japanese version, as they have with all of the recent stuff. The days of FUNi using replacement music are over I'm pretty sure, thankfully (even though I enjoyed a lot of those scores too).

Well, nowadays, FUNi should use the original Japanese score.

...by the way...I for one LOVED Rock music added to the DBZ movies. I honestly think it fits very well with the type of show and the fresher looking animation in the movies compared to some episodes in the series. It's especially good in Revenge of Cooler and Broly the Legendary Super Saiyan.

In the first Broly, I do like the 2 tracks they used from Slow Roosevelt. I even have the Weightless album by them. But the other songs were a tad bit annoying. Songs from Breaking Point, should be used more. Those are some of the better groups that need more popularity. Instead its horrible groups like Disturbed that get all the views and attention.

I disagree. It's not the job of a licensor/dub studio to "improve" or change a show. They have a responsibility to depict the English language product as close to the original one as possible.

If they didn't think they could sell the show with the original music, they shouldn't have licensed it to begin with.

That's because we got the series much later. DBZ came out in the US in 1996 and we also had a one year break of episodes after 1998. If Harmony Gold's dub did well in 1989 then DBZ would have likely start in the US in 1992 and we would have got all of the movies sooner. I personally glad on what we have in the US. If we do wait until 2015 for Battle of Gods then it should be worth it. Its better then not having it come out at all.

There's not as much of a DBZ market as there once was in the 90's here in United States. Ask how many of your friends even still like to watch Dragon Ball Z, let alone playing the games. I can understand this one not being in theaters, maybe 5 people including me will show up at first midnight showing? LOL i can imagine that.

I am sooo glad that we're getting better animation for this movie. I wasn't impressed by what I saw in the last few ones. I was worried the One Piece has hogged all the best animators...
