*Wonders* The track "The Pilaf Gang is Driven Off" is followed immediately by "A Sad-Yet-Foolish Memory".DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:In the Oozaru scene, if you pause at the right moment you can actually see a castle-like thing. I'm tempted to think that that's Pilaf's castle.
If that castle-like thing is Pilaf's castle, then maybe that's a spliced in clip from an earlier movie point after all; maybe it's from a flashback used by Bulma (or someone else who was in the first arc of the series) to explain to Vegeta who Pilaf, Mai, and Shuu are?
The "foolish" portion of the memory is about the panties Oolong wishes for?

Damn! The Oozaru is lean!
Glad we've settled it's a flashback then.

The difference between art styles are staggering! Is it even Dragonball now?
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

Concerning the design of SSJ God Goku, I wouldn't be surprised if elements were taken from the major villan's apparel.
After all, when Gohan trained with the Z sword, he was dressed to parallel the Kaioshin clothing at the time.
When Goku was on his way back to Earth, he adopted the clothing of the Yardrat's before being sent on his way.
If nothing else, this would place visual cues for viewers that Goku is indeed on par with said God of Destruction.
(I'm starting to think elements of the hand-drawn SSJ5 drawing with "Silver hair" Goku from many years back might actually make an appearance!)

I think the Birusu part is a Kamehameha approaching him, they put this after Goku's Super Saiyan God transformation only in the trailer I think.Chuquita wrote:The blue aura thing that Birusu's gawking at has way more possibility.
I think Goku breaking free from something (rock) in the trailer is metaphoric and happen during his Super Saiyan God transformation, as if had to break free from something that prevented to achieve the form before. And the Great Ape appears smashing rock to show that Goku's power has been released and breaks free, as when he broke free from Pilaf's Castle (they can use a flashback as a metamoric image).TheDevilsCorpse wrote:I'm torn, because I did my own design from the low quality version of the trailer. I imagined the form seeming more energy based might be the only way to remain similar to the old designs, without just falling pray to the same old "longer hair, spikier hair, less bangs, etc." type changes. I had just assumed that the Oozaru was a metaphorical vision, like with the anime's SS3 transformation and Goku's defeat of Daimao. But looking at the higher quality version, the big ape seems to be real, as he's destroying rocks and reigning debris down around him. So I'm probably in the completely wrong ballpark design wise...though I guess that still assumes that the monkey has anything to do with the transformation.

To me "A Sad-Yet-Foolish Memory" sounds like Goku standing on Gohan; but I have no idea on how that could tie into Battle of Gods.Chuquita wrote:*Wonders* The track "The Pilaf Gang is Driven Off" is followed immediately by "A Sad-Yet-Foolish Memory".DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:In the Oozaru scene, if you pause at the right moment you can actually see a castle-like thing. I like the rock soundtracks for the movies as well I think it gives them an intense vibe and I find them fitting since most of the Z movies are dumb action movies with less depth then a Michael Bay movie. So IMO hard rock is fitting for a movie that's pretty much nothing but fighting.kei17 wrote:I never thought there's anyone thinks this way on this forum.hulkty wrote:...by the way...I for one LOVED Rock music added to the DBZ movies. No dubbing company does that anymore, the standards for English dubs changed a lot since. The only company that still does it on a regular basis nowadays is 4kids (a.k.a 4shame) and that's because they're greedy.Gyt Kaliba wrote:I don't think they'll be 'choosing' anything soundtrack wise. I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

When meeting the Pilaf gang again, there's a short flashback about who they are and what happened when they met Goku and his friends.

Sometimes I forget that Pilaf and the gang didn't appear in Z, except in a flashback.

Even if you like it, I can't imagine how you might justify it. It seems rather out of bounds to add that kind of thing to it. Their job is to translate it into their respect country's language, not to add their own music/American pop music to it. I remember seeing the commercials for Cooler's Revenge and them talking about "featuring tracks from Disturbed and Deftones" and thinking, 'What's this have to do with Dragon Ball or translation?'
Having a personal, distinct distaste for the band Disturbed, this actually made me angry. Even as a 12-year-old dubbie.
I was Thanos before the MCU existed!

I like your explanation for the great ape and the rock though, def seems to fit with previous transformations and symbolism.

Looks like they're pushing these movie screenings a fair bit.
EDIT: The new flyer:

Are those the old unused colours on Janemba?

What I'm kind of surprised about though is that I don't recognize any of the promotional art for this new ad for movies 5, 6, 12, and 13. I'd think by now I would have seen them (12 does look semi-familiar, but..?) were they just sitting in the Toei vault all this time? Does anyone else recognize them?
