Yeah, he apparently goes back and forth. At first he's on Dai Kaio's planet, then in the Super 17 Arc he's on his planet, but still dead, then during the final arc he's back on Dai Kaio's again. Seems that he can teleport after all.MCDaveG wrote:What, really? The fact that they include elements from the movie in the manga-only guidebook Chozenshuu 1, they officially call the movie as part of the official history of Dragon Ball, they call the movie as a Toriyama work, Toriyama includes Birusu in the Kaio planet backstory, and that booklet includes the final battle with Birusu as one of the final battles in DBZ, all there scream canon to me, even if their purpose is to promote the movie.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I was mainly on about them taking a shot at GT because of Toriyama calling GT a side story. With Toriyama's involvement it seems like they're gonna ignore it, we'll just have to wait and see though.JeffJarrett wrote:First it is a commercial announcement, secondly it's not a side-story because it doesn't take place during a major arc contrary to the other movies (Saiyan Arc for 1-3, Freeza Arc for 4-5, Androids/Cell Games for 6-9, Majin Buu for 10-13).
This is how I view it too.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:The fact that they include elements from the movie in the manga-only guidebook Chozenshuu 1, they officially call the movie as part of the official history of Dragon Ball, they call the movie as a Toriyama work, Toriyama includes Birusu in the Kaio planet backstory, and that booklet includes the final battle with Birusu as one of the final battles in DBZ, all there scream canon to me, even if their purpose is to promote the movie.

No, you can't say that with any certainty, because it's obvious that he's just powering up into the state and that's not how the state actually looks. They wouldn't show us the form in the trailer [like that], they're clearly trying to keep it a secret.ItsAllGood wrote:After watching the trailer, I believe that we can say (with some certainty) that the SSJ God form has a shockingly vivid blue aura and up swept hair (which appears for a microsecond within the blue aura enveloping him).

Whenever King Kai is seen in GT he's on some brand new world that looks nothing like a setting we've seen in Z. Just like how they changed how Hell looks, they changed King Kai's planet as well for no apparent reason. Yeah, GT was ... surreal.MCDaveG wrote:What, really? No, King Kai is clearly on the roof of Grand Kai's castle in most GT:NeoKING wrote:Whenever King Kai is seen in GT he's on some brand new world that looks nothing like a setting we've seen in Z. And he is briefly shown on back on his planet while sick during the Super 17 Saga.
Also, only Area 1, Sector 3 of Hell is shown in DBZ (=around the bloody pond). GT simply shows us another Sector or Area.

I'm interested of this Super Saiyan God concept. Perhaps it's a temporary transformation? Or, if going the route to include GT, could possibly explain why Goku became so strong (Perhaps, he needs to be a certain battle power in order to activate such transformation in the movie?).
Also, I see no reason why GT shouldn't be included in the "Official History". I mean, if it not, that's cool. If it is, cool too. Why is it a big deal f they include GT to the Official History or not? It's not going to kill Dragon Ball or something

I don't view it as a part of the official history because Toriyama wasn't involved in it, which he says here. "The people from the TV anime were wanting to continue just a little further, but since I didn't want to do any more than I already had, I ended up leaving everything, including the story, up to the people on the anime staff." He also calls it a side story which is another reason why I won't call it a part of the "official history"Shineman wrote:Also, I see no reason why GT shouldn't be included in the "Official History". But it's not like Toriyama wrote the entire script and drew all the panels for this movie, either, so at the end of the day you have to almost draw a line in the sand and decide for yourself how much involvement is "enough" for you to personally consider it... well... "I DECLARE IT CANONICAL!"
... while simultaneously recognizing that not everyone's going to agree with you.

I'd say him being involved as much as he's said he is, and him putting it into the manga's history (Kaios planet) is enough for me. With GT he said it was a side story and didn't say he was involved with the story either, atleast with this he is.VegettoEX wrote:But it's not like Toriyama wrote the entire script and drew all the panels for this movie, either, so at the end of the day you have to almost draw a line in the sand and decide for yourself how much involvement is "enough" for you to personally consider it... well... Piccolo fighting. <3

Being a god, I could see him draining Gohan of that power... or maybe they went back and corrected the frames with black ink, like the scene with Goku and Paikuhan?Super Gazellian wrote:I'm now beginning to wonder whether Birusu actually beats the "Ultimate" out of Gohan... Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
I was merely pointing out that Toei seemed to almost be boasting about Toriyama's close involvement, and that it's being used as a selling point for the movie. And while I recognize that Toriyama including stuff about Bills in the back story for Kaio's world, as well as the movie being listed in newer guidebooks about the manga is just promotional... it still makes the argument for the movie being canon. Of course some purist fans will still reject it (unless the content of the movie is very agreeable to them, then they may come around), but I'd say the argument that the movie "counts" at the very least is a valid one.
Anyway.. what I'm more excited about.. is the actual movie. How cool is this. What do you guys think? New miniseries? It's possible, right? I imagine if the movie is a hit and sells a ton of tickets and ends up making a decent profit, it's not unimaginable? At the very least we're certain to get new games out of it, so can't wait for that either.
I'm really, really hoping this revitalizes Dragonball in a way that Kai seemingly failed to do. There's nothing wrong with a Dragonball for the next generation of fans.

Guys, please stop saying that Super Saiyan God is in the trailer. Goku's about to make the transformation, but he's not in the trailer. If he was, we would've seen an image of SSG in the last V-Jump. Once again, SSG itself is not in the trailer, no matter how fast you pause the video. It's like saying if you look really closely in Dragon Ball you can see the robot bug that collected data on Goku to create Cell.
