Vegeta is suitably freaked out, not least because of all the happy people enjoying themselves around him. As Kuririn plays with his daughter, Piccolo sings karaoke (much to the dismay of Goten and Trunks), and everyone toasts to Bulma’s good health, Vegeta looks over (eyes bugging out) to notice Birusu lounging on a deck chair across the way. Kaiō was not exaggerating: Birusu is indeed a big deal. The chapter closes on Birusu asking Vegeta about Super Saiyan God, and Vegeta repeating the words back at him. The ending narration says you will have to see the rest with your own eyes at the movie theater!
Guys. That is where the crazed Vegeta came from.
Agreed and taken as newest theory. :3
It's Vegeta trying (and failing) to act like everything's fine while desperately attempting to keep Birusu from getting angry. X3

The news update on the site summarizes all the dialogue. There's not much point in doing a full-blown translation.

12 pages of Ooishi-drawn "Battle of Gods" goodness with plenty of more-intricate plot details that are likely right-on-track for what will be in the movie with a couple extra gags tossed in.
Sorry I'm not that great with acronyms, but what does "SD" mean?

"Super deformed", a term for the sort of cutesy art style the manga uses.

I'm kind of new to some of this, but is there actually going to be a complete Manga issue on this Battle of Gods movie, just like the Bardock sequel had? Or are these just "sneak peak" shorts just to get you into it?

I always found that acronym to be sort of misleading. It makes me think of an actual physically deformed person rather than cutely proportioned anime characters.

Now that you mention it, Gyarmath Bogdan (producer at Toei Animation)
tweeted about this just yesterday.

So, has "an eye towards an international audience" been translated to the unwashed masses of DBZ fans as "DUHR THIS MOVIE WAS MADE FOR AMERICANS!" yet?
Because you know it's coming. Like Uranai Baba, I'm peering into my crystal ball and seeing YT comments that insist that the movie was specially made for English dub audiences. Won't that be fun to see?

I see absolutely no reason for you to assume that.

Maybe for promotional support of the eventual DVD/Blu-Ray release. It seems that right now these tie-ins are to try to get people in the theatres.

I
knew that looked familiar!
Also, that page, plus the facing page of promotions we'd already covered on the site, was literally all there was about the movie this issue. (Unless you count the list of theaters that will be showing the film, near the back of the magazine.)

Yeah pretty much. There has been foreign films that have released for an international audience and they don't scream out "DUHR THIS MOVIE WAS MADE FOR AMERICANS!"

Thank you so much for the update!
They're really determined to keep ssjg's appearance a secret (unless that drawing on the office door really is it after all).
Since that's all there was for this week of WJ updates; it makes me wonder what's left in terms of BOG news with the 12th only a week away. Maybe they're still holding back and planning on doing more stuff later on in the month even after the two early-preview-showing days come and go since the nationwide release is the bigger one?
There's still one more week's Weekly Jump before that, and there's always Toei's website for the movie itself...this is such an unprecedented situation it's really difficult for me to guess at this point. I used to think I could compare the lead-up for this movie with the lead-up for some of the recent OP films; but each franchise is at an entirely different place from one another, so I'm just kinda lost for now with what to expect. ^^;

I do have to wonder what the point of using a silhouette is if it's a silhouette of something else.

Birusu decides to leave (at Uisu’s suggestion) to inquire with the Saiyan Prince on a planet called “Earth”
I kinda got this feeling that Uisu has his own reasons for wanting to visit Earth.

Yeah, especially since he's asking if Bils will destroy Earth in the trailer.

The silhoutte is to provide the element of mystery while the shape of the silhoutte itself is supposed to be familiar in order to convey the message of, "It's sorta like this, but totally not like this at all," if that makes sense. It's the same reason the silhoutte of the Legendary Super Saiyan in the anime resembled an Ohzaru - it's just like that to establish the fact that it's something very Saiyan-primal. So, the silhoutte of SSJ Goku is there to say, "It's like the most purest form of a Super Saiyan." Get it?
