When going over the events of SSJG, was there a flashback showing these early Saiyan's at all, or was it, as i'm expecting, just an explanation without visuals?

There was a flashback of the former SSJG while Shenlong is explaining about it, but it was just an Oozaru.

Guess that's the Oozaru image seen earlier that everyone assumed was a flashback to the Pilaf "saga". Thanks for your answer!

No, it's a different one. The Oozaru shot we see in the trailer actually is a flashback that plays when Pilaf sees Goten's hair.

Probably not what your thinking of, but something like that happened in the series (and I'm guessing the book it's based off of) The Pillars of the Earth. Great series if you've never seen it btw.

Nope, that wasn't it, as I haven't seen (or even heard of) that one before. I'll have to look into it now. I finally did remember what I was thinking of though - there's a pretty similar moment between Abe and Liz in Hellboy II: The Golden Army.

Personally this is my favorite fan design of SSJG. Looks like an actual god form unlike the official design that for some reason combines with the regular SSJ which may or may not make Goku's SSJ form the only form he needs to use now as the others may have become useless.

I agree the colors could be different and that the tattoos are what make the image so awesome. But IMO, its better then what we got. I still feel cheated that its basically "Super False Kaio-Ken God", then just disappears after a while and can be used in the regular SSJ form. That just feels cheap.

In order to become a Super Saiyan God, you need to receive the powers of 5 other Super Saiyans aside from yourself, hence why Gohan transforms to lend his Super Saiyan powers to Goku. Somewhere in this thread, I read that Tarble was brought up to possibly be a contributing factor until Pan ended up being the final one even still inside Videl.

So does that imply that Tarble somehow reached the first Super Saiyan form? Or is it just Saiyan power in general that's needed?

It was pure-hearted Saiyans, not Super Saiyans.

I think Super Saiyan God should only feel like a cop-out or letdown if you were expecting it too much to be a new actual "transformation," when instead it's ended up being just a "power-up," in the form of some sort of big, magical reserve of godly ki. Hence why Goku looks mostly the same as normal but with a snazzy new aura.

Well, there are other factors. It's pretty damn easy for our heroes to obtain it, and the time limit problem is apparently a non-factor is SS1 Goku can use it's power anyway... the biggest let down is if it ends up getting shafted so Goku can fight as a Super Saiyan 1 instead.

Call it The Saiyan God then. Calling the form Super Saiyan God puts it in the line of Super Saiyan forms. Even when just taking it as a power up I feel the whole thing is a cop out when its power can be used in SSJ. hen used in SSJ the form looks the exact same. At least change the SSJ aura to match SSJG or do something. Instead its "Super False Kaio-ken God Power Up mode Form"

Pretty much. I'm most insulted the form is shafted for SSJ1. Maybe they thought it looked so lame they decided to allow Goku to use its powers in his SSJ form, or maybe the animators were too lazy or forgot to change Goku's look from the promotions to SSJG and so they went with this idea last minute.

I agree. I think it's unjustified to call this thing Super Saiyan God. It doesn't look or seem to feel Godly at all. It only seems like a temporary state. Worst of all it gets completely shafted by SSJ1 making the whole thing seem either pointless. That and now that I think about it, this kinda rips off the Golden Oozaru to SSJ4, except that change gave us a cool form that takes over the temporary Golden Oozaru while this one gives us plain old SSJ that we have seen thousands of times already. I feel like we got ripped off.

Huh, that's strange. Shouldn't Birusu have been around when Bibidi created Boo? If he wasn't, he still should have known Boo killed two Kaioushin, absorbed another and even the Dai Kaioushin. I really like new villains referencing past ones so that's kind of a bummer. At least he talked about Freeza (poor Cell, no one cares about you).

From what you wrote, Kei, Birusu asked if Freeza had destroyed planet Vegeta. Did they expand upon Birusu and Freeza's connection or why he cared about what Freeza was doing?
