I wish he kept it closer to the manga and as the series goes on so does the style. I wish he didn't change the muscles and the hair. Maybe I'm a purist, but I prefer the older art style over the modern one and I think it's kind of a bad trend of changing Dragon Ball's style to the modern one. I don't see that happen in other shows so much...omegalucas wrote:Yeah, Treevax is planning on doing that. The only thing that has been slightly "updated" is the shape of the muscles that as you can see on some screens (on Yamcha for example) is closer to the late-Z portion of the story. Same thing for Goku's hair.
So, in terms of the slideshow images, the style will be the same of the manga (Treevax is pretty much tracing over the manga, then he paints it with anime-like colors and uses the anime's backgrounds). As for character sprites in battles, they may be closer a bit to the modern style...

Yes he did. First it was the meeting with Gyumao & Chichi, and immediately after that, the met Tonijinka.Nex Carnifex wrote:But he didn't have Kamehameha at this point
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
There's one or two mistakes in these images from the game (Goku having a tail when training with Muten Roshi, his wristbands being blue or his tail being missing when riding the Kintoun - I've already told Treevax about the first two, the last one he was the one who pointed it out to me just for fun) but that one isn't any of them.Nex Carnifex wrote: But he didn't have Kamehameha at this point

Waaaat. Relax man, it's just a fangameAttitudefan wrote:While it might be his artistic choice, I think it is actually kind of insulting.
It's an insult to the original art by trying to 'improve' his art because it isn't 'defined' or 'realistic' enough. It's not directly at this game but overall when I see these renders and redone pictures from the earlier days of the anime. It's insulting because it says "this style isn't good enough so we updated it". What a load of shit. Art is timeless.Marco Polo wrote:Waaaat. You're the only one in the topic saying anything about "improving" the original art and original art not being "good enough".Attitudefan wrote:It's an insult to the original art by trying to 'improve' his art because it isn't 'defined' or 'realistic' enough. I can draw and would love to help them... but university is a bitch.Marco Polo wrote:So you don't have a problem with this game, since they aren't updating anything. All they do is reuse certain assets from one part of the story to certain other (earlier or later) parts of the story. It's a decision made for technical reasons, not an attempt at producing something better than the original work. If you don't like it maybe you could join them and draw the few thousands of frames that would be necessary to make different animations for every artstyle variation of every chapter of the manga.
You are taking things way too seriously than you should.Attitudefan wrote:It's an insult to the original art by trying to 'improve' his art because it isn't 'defined' or 'realistic' enough. Artists get tired of drawing the same shit over and over. That's why styles change, that's why there is experimentation.Attitudefan wrote:I just have a problem with, not just this game, but the thought of "updating" art styles when it is supposed to be a tribute.
And official work sadly does the same thing.
