Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.

Just his life as far as we know. You'd think it would be mentioned somewhere if Goku was now going to live for centuries.

My mistake then. Sorry about that!

Nooooooooooooo. Do not give the shippers ideas. Ugggggh. I dedicate myself to forgetting anything to do with that.

Power levels establish tension and drama. People who care about them (well, people who care about them in a narrative) don't care about the big numbers or the fancy explosions. If you have character A who's so much above character B, who's the main character, you're gonna be left wondering how in the hell character B, the character we're supposed to care and root for, is going to escape the situation or overcome the odds. It makes us emotionally invested.
If character B doesn't escape the situation in a believable way that's consistent with previous events, then that emotional investment is gone. It was pointless tension, pointless drama made just to suck in the viewer. It has no critical value whatsoever. The audience is left believing that the author can just create whatever scenarios he wants and what happens to the characters is decided by whatever the author wants to happen, regardless of the events that happened in the story. Which, in fairness, is what happens, but the audience wants to be fooled. The audience wants to know that the world they're following has rules. That the world they're invested in isn't going to bend to external factors that are irrelevant to them.
An author can do whatever he wants with the characters, that's not false. But the author should also have the responsibility to make sure it fits in cohesively with the other events in the narrative he has created.
Heh, you didn't read what VegettoEX said earlier.. we can't see whatever it is you're trying to link. It just shows up as a broken link for us. You're the only one who can see it -_-

Goku still has an age issue ya know.
I'm also kinda confused about this, did the Elder Kai give Goku his remaining life span of 1000 years or just give Goku his life back?
Exactly. Goku still isn't going to be around forever, he's going to need an actual successor one of these days, and Oob is the best option. And for all we know, maybe Oob for some reason technically has the potential to be far, far, far stronger than Kid Boo ever was - he is a young kid, so that could just be the tip of the iceburg once he grows into that power, for all we know.
And as far as Goku getting the remaining lifespan, I can't imagine he'd possibly get to live out the rest of those 1,000 years. A mortal's body would start to age and decay I'd have to assume, at which point you'd want to be dead if you weren't.

I see it being no different to Future Trunks' PL being 5, when Tarble checked base Goku's power and said it wouldn't be enough to beat Avo and Cado, when Avo and Cado scoffed at base Goten and Trunks' PL before being stomped on and post 100X gravity training Goku's PL being 5000. Goku was at rest and so his PL was a lot lower that it would be in battle, so I see it as part of a recurring theme.
Also wasn't it said in the Majin Buu saga that base Goku>Piccolo?
That's a good point. This movie counts the Jump special which had Goten and Trunks easily beat guys as strong as Freeza without SSJ.
Actually its countered by the fact that Tarble probably only knows of first form Freeza. So my stance changes from my previous suggestion. Unless Tarble knows of Full power Freeza.

If the boys were really that weak that they were only 1st form Frieza level in base, then I'm not sure how the series would work out....

The Dragonboxes are like a middle aged woman who still looks good through simply taking good care of her skin and body with maybe a tiny bit of makeup while the Orange Bricks are like a middle aged woman who get's 50 tons of botox, makeup and plastic surgery in order to look younger and as a result looks even worse. ~ ringworm128 Still recording Toonami broadcasts on VHS after all these years! #1 Paikuhan fan!

Hope I'm not coming off as pushy or a min-mod. Just don't want you to get in trouble.

I never said they were at Freeza's first form level. The boys easily defeat Abo and Cado. That could put them much higher then first form Freeza. They only had trouble because they were sloppy and had a hard time with what was normally simple, but they didn't take that much damage in the fight at all. And as I said, I doubt Tarble has even heard of final form Freeza. Vegeta didn't even know of it at first. Vegeta didn't even know that Freeza could transform until later in the namek saga if I recall.
Also break dancing Birus is awesome and so was the fight scenes. I still say Birus let Vegeta give him those hits.

Samurai, you better delete that post, just in case you get in trouble because of it. It's on the rules of the forum that linking stuff like that is a big NO.

Yes, Goku visited me once. He turned to me while I was still speechless, and said, "You've drank too much"...
