Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"

Yeah, the cat appears in the RRA arc but isn't there when Goku gets his ship from Briefs. I don't know when Briefs shows up other than that.

I think he shows up again during the Android/Cell arc and helps repair 16.

Variety has reported that Battle of Gods has been projected to of taken US $7.0 million at the box office and has been ranked #5 in the estimated overseas box office chart this past weekend.

According to Wikipedia, Film Z's opening weekend brought in $9 Million USD so I'd says that's pretty good going for DBZ.

EDIT: Noticed that it's calculated after three days but the third day's not over yet.

Fox also distributed the Japanese Toei Animation pic, “Dragonball Z,” which grossed an estimated $7 million in two days locally. Imax partnered on the release, contributing $450,000 from only 16 sites for a local per-screen average of $28,000.

So, the thing I don't remember is if it's explicitly stated in the manga that planet Vegeta was destroyed soon after Goku left it as a baby.
I know we saw it in the anime how the planet exploded as Goku left towards Earth, but I'm pretty sure we never saw that in the manga. I believe Toriyama only showed Bardock, but that's it.

Yeah, in the manga Raditz never says when Planet Vegeta was destroyed in relation to Goku's birth, and nothing in the Saiyan arc rules out the idea that the planet was destroyed years after Goku was born. The Bardock special was the first thing to show the planet's destruction happening right after Goku's birth. However, even in the manga during the Freeza arc, right before Freeza starts to transform into his final form he notes that he destroyed Planet Vegeta 30 years ago...which is actually too long ago, since Goku should be only about 25 by then, and obviously he couldn't have been born after the planet was destroyed.

I'm glad to hear its doing well... even though I had no doubt that it would.

I want to pose a question (sorry if its been asked before): Suppose Fox ended up releasing BoG in US theaters, do you guys think it would it be widely released (like Dragonball: Evolution, though it tanked), or would they do a limited run (like FUNimation's licensed films, or the newer Studio Ghibli movies?) Would they even try an IMAX release for BoG in the States?

Personally, I can't see Fox taking a chance with a nationwide release of an anime film, especially after Evolution's poor performance. Even the ever-popular Studio Ghibli films only get limited runs... I know if FUNi got the domestic rights, it'd be only in select cities like with Evangelion 1.0/2.0 and Summer Wars.

I know you folks have probably talked about this to death but ''IF'' Funimation does indeed Dub this movie, Would they use the Kai cast or the voice actors from their original Dub? I really hope that Funimation sticks to the original script as much as possible.

They'd certainly use the Kai cast, and it would almost certainly be accurate. FUNimation has really stepped up their game lately, and that includes how they handle Dragon Ball.
