Sorry, but I'm one of the few who think that buying them in JP is strange (if you don't understand the language) so I buy the FUNi versions. But I gotta say, those scouters are totally BOSS!
If only I knew someone who could give us middle class guys who can't spend that much money a break down of the whole think... perhaps in blog form...
wait...
ah... daizEX rocks

Actually, that's the same tired story as every other person propegates, as if something cannot physically be universal in a sense.DaemonCorps wrote:Sorry, but I'm one of the few who think that buying them in JP is strange (if you don't understand the language) so I buy the FUNi versions.
If you've seen the series, in both ways, as many times as a good portion of us here, it's really not very difficult to watch the show/features and know exactly [or almost exactly] what is going on in any given scene, without aid of subtitles. It's just one of those things, that if the series becomes so thoroughly ingrained in you that understanding is just natural.
Further, if you have any sense of what acting is, in a quality sense, you can easily feel the gravity of the moment, which for a show like DragonBall is everything and coupled with the physicality of the situation makes it a relatively universal experience.
Further, for some of us, it's the chance of owning something that is a veritable 'collectable' item, like Daizenshuu, or anything else released that was limited in production. It is an item of fan-dom, which in posession would hold a value to the owner that far exceeds the retail value; kind of like spending ridiculous amounts of money on sports cards [like autographed Mickey Mantel cards, or some shit], the initial investment and ownership is valuable to the owner as such.
Lastly, the far exceeding factor is overwhelming geekyness. The fact that we can afford it exceeds the rationality of being able to understand it, if you can't from the get-go. Further, there's the motivational factor.
It's all about the geekyness, the music, and the performances by Takeshi Aono, Masako Nozawa, and the rest.
Yeah, Mike's doing that, but for further break down we're going to be doing a comparison of a few movies, like Mike did with the DragonBox v. Ultimate Uncut releases. Should be informative to the fellows without the money to buy any of them, god knows, this being my first box and all, Mike's was informative to me, so I figure ours might add to it, in that it's for each movie individually.DaemonCorps wrote:If only I knew someone who could give us middle class guys who can't spend that much money a break down of the whole think... perhaps in blog form...

Uuh, please ignore this. Pointless post. Finally got to see one of those scouter thingies, though.

Oh I figured you'd be doing -something- other than the page in respect to the box, and so will we. =)VegettoEX wrote:Oh, I'll be doing the same thing, again... don't worry.
If everything goes as planned, and each of us compares the movies we set out to, and each get them up and available, coupled with whatever Mike decides to do, it could be huge. Huge, like the gravity of a situational conflict, where ballance is dead, and one persons battle power far exceeds another.
Yes, yes, I did make a reference to the Freeza story arc.

I think its strange to, but hey Iam one of those people who's buying the Japanese DVD's and these FUNimation DVD's. I love the art of the Japanese DVD's more then anything. Now that I have every FUNimation DVD I want to get every (single) Japanese DVD as well. I kind of have an obsesive personality so if I like somthing and I want the whole series (twice?) then yea, I'll get both.Sorry, but I'm one of the few who think that buying them in JP is strange (if you don't understand the language) so I buy the FUNi versions. But I gotta say, those scouters are totally BOSS!

Hey, folks:
Since the set is out now (and we're not really "counting down" until it comes out), let's move over all discussions to the new thread I've set up. Thanks!
