Plenty theatrical-run movies have DVD/Blu-ray screener copies that are made available to critics/reviewers/etc.

Which is why if Battle of Gods was released in America (or most other countries) then it would probably have already leaked online. The Japanese press tend to take these things a lot more seriously, thankfully.VegettoEX wrote:Plenty theatrical-run movies have DVD/Blu-ray screener copies that are made available to critics/reviewers/etc.

Interesting. The movie staff decided to change most of Toriyama's design for Birus' temple, especially by including the giant tree and such...but then apparently failed to really do anything of use with the changes they made. If they weren't going to tie in the Kaijuu and Shinjin or anything, the original design was fine for the place being such a minor part of the movie.redon wrote:Got my “Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods” Official Movie Guide yesteday, I scan "Akira Toriyama Art Works" pages, really nice![]()

Maybe this was the initial art work and Toriyama decided not to go with it?

Thank you so much for sharing! (I wish my copy would arrive soon. @_@ Lesson in shipping speeds learned.)
I actually like both versions of Beers and Uisu's home.
I gotta wonder where Goku's character drawing is though. That sheet has everyone but him. O_O
Also hoping that ssjg has a Toriyama-drawn piece somewhere; I'd really like to see that.
The only thing that bothers me about the current art-style (once I get past the oddness of skinny Mr. Satan and skinny Vegeta) is how seemingly random characters (in this lineup, it'd be Videl, Chi-Chi, Goten, Kuririn, and Marron) to varying degrees all seem to have wider-than-usual face proportions. The distance between where their eyes are set is much wider (especially Chi-Chi and Marron) than I've ever seen during the manga's original run.

Awesome scan is awesome. Master Roshi is looking fly.

It does seem strange that they changed it when it serves such a minor role. I have to wonder why they even bothered.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Interesting. I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

What I find even stranger is how and why it ended up on the poster for the film.Saiga wrote:It does seem strange that they changed it when it serves such a minor role. Just to show off something new. It is not the first time something pointless has appeared on a movie poster for the series. I don't even think there is a pterodactyl in the 10th Anniversary movie.DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:What I find even stranger is how and why it ended up on the poster for the film.

Probably just because they thought it looked cooler that way, and they didn't expect fans to think it had anything to do with the SEG Kaio/Kaioshin backstory.Saiga wrote:It does seem strange that they changed it when it serves such a minor role. I have to wonder why they even bothered.

- Toei is planning on a six-week run for Battle of Gods, going through the Golden Week holiday period early next month.
- We don't know. Around six months, give or take, seems to be the baseline.

I can't read Japanese, but I assume that they made a joke about Lloud being called as a god of destruction, like Beers?
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

The sad part is that Bilus would tear Lood apart. Especially since Lood wasn't even a god but a Machine Mutant worshipped by a false cult.

What happened to Toriyama's style? :O Everyone's had a maaaaajor diet I see.
Honestly I wish Toriyama drew those in his older style (to the end of the manga) but oh well
Also, made a tribute to Toriyama and the movie. Hope y'all like
