1. When I was around 5-6 (whenever the episodes aired), I would watch some episodes (and Tree Of Might, which was broken up into episodes IIRC) of the FUNi/Saban dub with my brother and friend. I had
some idea of who the characters were and what they looked like (I even distinctly remember watching the over 9000 scene live) but it didn't really stick with me until I caught some of the Cell Saga while watching other shows that were on Toonami. It was still a pretty big blur to me (I thought long haired Trunks was some sort of super form of Goku while he talked with Cell about the Cell Games), until about a year later I caught reruns of the Trunks saga casually, watched a bit of it, saw Freeza and Trunks show up, and was in love from there on. If I wasn't sold then, Dragon Ball and Buu saga airing on Toonami as well sealed the deal. Been a constant fan since the summer of 2001, so well over a decade by now, a love which is probably only outlived by my love for Nintendo games.
2. From the moment on when Vegeta returns to Earth after looking for Goku, I've definitely seen every episode of DBZ. I would say I've seen everything for sure from the beginning of the battle with Freeza on, but I'm not sure if I've seen all of Garlic saga. Seen parts of the Ginyu Tokusentai battle, and a good deal of the Saiyan saga in the redub. Everything else I've seen through Kai or read in the manga (which I've read back to front). As for Kai, I've only seen the series in Japanese up to when Vegeta kills Android 19, and I've seen bits and pieces of Android/Cell in the dub. I've seen everything in the original Dragon Ball anime up until Goku confronts the Red Ribbon Headquarters, then I saw everything leading up to Goku vs. Tenshinhan except the fight itself, and then I never saw the rest of Dragon Ball (again, read the manga instead). I intend to rectify this soon, however. I've seen scattered pieces of the Black Star Dragon Balls/Baby saga, but I've seen all of Super 17 and Shadow Dragons. I
don't intend to rectify this one.
3. Future Trunks was initially my favorite character because his appearance is what hooked me into the series, though I would later regard Cyborg Freeza as one of the lowest points of the Dragon Ball canon. I still like Trunks just fine, however.
4. I've probably seen Buu saga (specifically, everything after Vegeta sacrifices himself) more than any part of the series, because they got released on home video before they were broadcasted on TV, so I'd watch them over and over at the excitement of having so much new DBZ at once.
5. Around the turn of the century, googling stuff about Dragon Ball is what got me involved in the internet world.
6. I consider the printed manga firmly canon and nothing else (barring what Toei or Toriyama might have to say about Battle Of The Gods, I'm not sure what the deal is with that exactly), but prefer how the anime will sometimes keep fights from being such a curb stomp, or allow for characters to be fleshed out in non-battle settings (this is particularly the case with Android/Cell and Buu).
7. I've never played more than ten minutes of two, maybe three video games of the franchise.
8. I don't mind the old Z dub post-Weasel, and have no attachment to the Ocean cast/dub whatsoever.
9. My first EVER exposure to any sort of Japanese version of any of the Dragon Ball series was a fansub of a Kid Buu episode I found on Bearshare (or Kazaa...or whatever it was) in the early noughties, and my first thought was "why is Dragon Ball music playing in DBZ?"
10. I'm in North Carolina for college, but the semester ends and I move back home literally a couple of days before Animazement.
