Chaozu's design is supposed to be based upon a Jiang Shi which is a Chinese vampire or zombie dressed in garments of the Qing Dynasty. But I think other than his design; Chaozu is supposed to be actually human.

He's one of the bravest characters in the show he keeps wanting to fight and tag along even though he's pretty much overpowered by anyone and anything post his initial appearance. He wants to fight, he doesn't care if he dies, but he's forced to sit out. I feel sorry for him. He spend his whole life training with Tenshinhan to become stronger and help out his friends but he just can't. Not matter what.

He's dead by the time Goku comes back to life, Goku's out and about in space when Porunga revives the others, when they're all gathered after Trunks arrives they pretty much have no time as once Piccolo relays Trunks' message everyone takes off to train with little time for pleasantries (and before that Goku was more interested in Trunks than even his son) and after that... does he even see him again? Telepathy at some point? That's one the little guys things, right?

I actually like Chaozu... He was brave and always wanted to fight, even though he wasn't strong enough. I also think he's cute with that one little hair on his head!
