I'd like to say that you can't honestly judge the movie without seeing it in motion. Fair enough, you've read a synopsis so you more or less know what happens from start to end, you note the bad points, seen pictures, clips and whatnot, but your opinion is still based on what someone else has written about the film, so I suggest people take what is being said with a pinch of salt.
The film can only be so much anyway! There's probably not going to be a future series in the making, so what else can they do in a film apart from make it funny, and give a lot of fan service? It's all that can really be done. The 20th anniversary special was a bit of a joke around too, and I thought it was brilliant, and thankfully BoG's seems to be similar sort of production. I loved the way the 20th anniversary captured the essence of DB even though it was short lived, like how when that fused abocado starts doing those wahahanoha's(which had me chuckling btw), then when he goes 'the next wahahanoha won't be so easy to block!' and everything gets serious for a split second, and also the nostalgia of the 2 saiyan ships headed for earth was just awesome (the BGM plays a big part in this too), then comes the new style animation, which I too think was a great job, I'm so used to watching those old episodes and to see how fluid and nicely presented DB can look made me happy, I love the way Kuririn splits the sphere with Kienzan!
So, I think that you may not think 'much' of the film because maybe your expectations weren't met, but me? I'm not expecting anything major, just a well presented DBZ film with some cool fights and a way of seeing what DB looks like in the present day, Toriyama's involvement is a plus and adds to the authenticity, and the fact alone that Toei even bothered to make a 2013 production of a show that ended decades ago. It should have made fans all over the globe think 'well, at least DBZ has died out and been forgotten about'. After getting the 20th anniversary special I would never have guessed anything as big as this would have happened, so BoG's, to me, is gold dust, nowadays we only get merchandise (video games, toys, manga, etc) and this movie was a great way to breathe some life back into the animated side of DB.
I haven't yet seen BoG's, but sooner or later I will, and I look forward to it too.
