Come to think of it, the fact that Frieza skipped his 2nd and 3rd transformation does make me wonder... Maybe you're right? But then again...ngnikolaos wrote:It's highly debatable that B3's engine is "based" on B2.... Atari goes like "Don't worry about it. Just wrap as well as you can everything you've done so far, and we shall release it as a complete game".
I wrote:So, You're saying that without complete assurance of a sequel, only then you will buy the latest game. What the HFIL!? You can't be that much of a hardcore DBZ fan, can you? How can you just walk past a store, with the latest "explosive" DBZ game on the shelves... Waiting to be purchased by you?
Nooooooo!ngnikolaos wrote:You are correct. I am not a hardcore fan anymore. And if I have to be one in order to post here, maybe I shouldn't do so at all (although that's another subject for debate).
You know what? You're (I hate to admit it)... Right. Damn. After the way you put it, I now see that Atari are simply hungry for money. They'll stop at nothing to bring those bucks in (even if it means manipulating the minds of helpless DBZ fans)... Or maybe, they just want to please fans (like FUNimation, with their Dragonball theatres)?ngnikolaos wrote: Why can't they make a DBZ game (of any kind), try other kinds of DBZ games, and after 3 years at least, make a sequel that will have VAST improvements over the previous one, since they had a lot of time in making it? The truth is, I'm not used to seeing Dragonball merchandise in the UK. When an advert comes on, I'm like "Whoah!!" Immediately, I go down to the stores and use all of my pocket money. I don't really care if Atari are just using me for money; I'll buy every single game! I love the fact that the Dragonball legend still lives on. Ahhh... Back in the days. I remember when it first came out. Yeah, 4 years ago. I was only 11. Oh, sweet memories.
Yeah, I know there are loads. But still, how about the wonderful packaging 'n' stuff? It's the thrill of knowing that a new game is on the way... It gives me something to look forward to.ngnikolaos wrote:As far as originality goes, you may have 7 DBZ games on your PS2 by the end of the year, but you basically only have 4.
Well, I guess we're just different. I'm HARD-CORE, and you're... Erm... Soft-core. Heh heh... Nice talkin' to ya.

Remember that in B2, Freeza doesn't even have 1st or 100% form, while in B1 he had them.Come to think of it, the fact that Freeza skipped his 2nd and 3rd transformation does make me wonder... Maybe you're right? But then again...
I know how it feels. DBZ was horribly underrated in Greece, and we hardly took advantage of the franchise. And I am not saying that buying every single DBZ game for the PS2 is bad; I am just saying that most of them are unfinished products because of Atari's (and Bandai's) greed. The truth is, I'm not used to seeing Dragonball merchandise in the UK. I know how you feel (again). And frankly I would have bought Tenkaichi 1 as well, but when I heard about the sound bugs, the bitch-to-beat CPU and the rushed cut-scenes, I said "I'll wait for No2"... because I was 99% sure there would be a No 2.Yeah, I know there are loads. But still, how about the wonderful packaging 'n' stuff? It's the thrill of knowing that a new game is on the way... It gives me something to look forward to.
But I wanted Tenkaichi 2 for the PS3 DAMMIT!!

Budokai Tenkaichi 2 for the PS3 would've sucked big time, because I don't plan on getting a PS3 as soon as it is launched and if it were coming out for PS3 it would probably have been a launch title, or close to it.
On the other hand, with Wii, I plan on getting one of those as soon as it is released seeing how it won't cost nearly as much (confirmed to be under $300 although it will probably be less) and a Dragonball game for the Wii at launch is something I would've thought only existed in my DREAMS, frankly.

Not if Spike would actually put some effort to it, and release it in the middle/late 2007.'lo Legends wrote:and if it were coming out for PS3 it would probably have been a launch title, or close to it.

So pretty.
I really like the graphics I'm seeing for this game. I can't wait to get it. (I guess for PS3, but I'd like to have it on a Nintendo consule for once; my brother gets the Sony consules, and I get the Nintendo ones.)
What's scarier than a DBZ H-game?

Has only SSJ or both SSJ2 Goku been confirmed? They'll both appear probably anyway, so I suppose it doesn't matter.

While only God knows how much I appreciate the fact that in Chou DBZ the graphic designers did everything they could to make the backgrounds look as if they've been taken straight from the manga, I can't help but applaud at the realistic backgrounds of Sparking NEO. The clouds and the fields are beautiful, and Goku looks so sharp it annoys me. And it annoys me knowing that in the PS2 the game will run at the lowest resolution possible.
This will never happen on Tenkaichi 3 for the PS3... MWAHAHAHA!!!

Wow, you have some bad misconceptions there. If they had taken 2 years to make B2 instead of only one the only differences you would have seen would have been full out cutscenes. They would have used the extra time to spruce up the graphics. Budokai 2 is, in fact, the most complete title in the series. Supported by the fact that it's the only game without unused audio files. You have some points, I'll give you that. Indeed, without B2, B3's engine probably wouldn't be the same... or would it? It's highly debatable that B3's engine is "based" on B2. The way I see it, B3 would be exactly the same if B2 wasn't released. I thnk that Dimps was halfway done in the creation of Budokai 3 (as a "2"), but Atari (or Bandai) came to the them and said "Hey guys, instead of making two Budokais within 2 years, why not make three within 3 years? That way we make more money". Dimps says something like "But the game isn't ready yet. We have only made 4th stage Freeza and Perfect Cell with the new graphics, and we haven't even made power-up auras yet. And we haven't finished the Dragon Rush". Atari goes like "Don't worry about it. Just wrap as well as you can everything you've done so far, and we shall release it as a complete game".
Budokai 1 was released before completion (no Kui, Saibamen, or Cell Jr.s playable) as was Budokai 3 (Lots of unfinished DUs, and Bulma unfinished). Budokai 2, however, features none of this. It is the only game of the series that wasn't rushed.
No. Games don't do that. No franchise that's intended to be a franchise does that. They release a game, recieve feed-back, make the changes they can based on that, release a new game, recieve feed-back, make the changes they can based on that, release a... well, you get the idea. It's the way it's done. The time taken is only the time: 1) Needed. 2) Available 3) Allowable. Why can't they make a DBZ game (of any kind), try other kinds of DBZ games, and after 3 years at least, make a sequel that will have VAST imporvements over the previous one, since they had a lot of time in making it? Why do they have to make a sequel every 8 months? Aside from putting 10-12 new characters, they don't do anything THAT different. Wouldn't you prefer to wait 4 years after Budokai 3, and see a Budokai 4 in the PS3 with 70 characters (not 200) that would play in ENTIRELY different ways, with INDIVIDUAL combos and like, 5 main story modes (arcade mode, saga mode, character mode, RPG mode, parody mode--or something)? That, as far as sequels go.
After four years I wouldn't give a crap about a new Budokai game. Waiting that long for a new title is a waste of time and effort. The improvements made would be so minor that it would be a waste of time and resources to make a game over that span of time. You seem to think you can go from A to F without going through B, C, D, and E to get there. You can't. You try new things in a new game, a finished game, and see how well they work. And the you expand upon those with the next game.
Budokai's 1, 2, and 3 are very different games. I would love see you play EXACTLY the same way in all three games and still beat someone in the other two. You can't. It won't work. They mechanics are different. Plus, on top of this, the three games feature different style story modes and the added RPG element in B3.As far as originality goes, you may have 7 DBZ games on your PS2 by the end of the year, but you basically only have 4. Tenkaichi 1 will not have anything Tenkaichi 2 won't include, so it will count as a "different" type of game. And if it wasn't for Budokai 1's story mode, the same could be said for the first two Budokais (I don't even think of B2's story mode).
BT2 isn't even out yet so I can't say anything about it's relation to BT1. However, BT2 has already added in transformations so that sets it apart from BT1 fairly well.

..... Just because your character's hair can go blond during the fight you have a new game? Gimme a freakin' break.
No offence, but I can't do a debate-talk with a person who considers Budokai 1 and 2 "very different games". (I am not referring to B3; it IS different)Budokai's 1, 2, and 3 are very different games. But I'll say this, and I'll keep saying it until I die. Budokai 2 is the most rushed DBZ game. Ever. Perhaps even more rushed than Butoden 3 for the SNES. But this is not the point of this topic, so I'll skip this talk.
P.S: Take a look at the MK franchise. They don't make a sequel every year. Yet they have their feedback, their changes, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda...

Use your brain a little, please. Transformations allow for changes in fighting style, move sets, speed, attack, defense, etc. Explain to me HOW a game where you're stuck with the same everything for an entire match is the same as a game where you can boost your power/speed at a crucial moment and suddenly change your fighting style/combos/moves completely throwing the other person off balance for a moment?..... Just because your character's hair can go blond during the fight you have a new game? Gimme a freakin' break.
The differences between B2 and B3 is the exact same in ammount as that between B1 and B2. You can't see one as larger than the other as they're the same. B2's not as different from B1 as B3 is, obviously, but that's just common sense. No offence, but I can't do a debate-talk with a person who considers Budokai 1 and 2 "very different games". (I am not referring to B3; it IS different)
Say it all you like. The truth is you're wrong. Opinnion means jack in the face of fact. But I'll say this, and I'll keep saying it until I die. Budokai 2 is the most rushed DBZ game. Ever. Indeed. And MK is a different series as well, or haven't you noticed no Saiya-jins in it? I'll repeat what I said before which you obviously chose to ignore: "It's the way it's done. The time taken is only the time: 1) Needed. 2) Available 3) Allowable." Now, since I apparently must, I'll explain this.P.S: Take a look at the MK franchise. They don't make a sequel every year. Yet they have their feedback, their changes, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda...
1) Time Needed: The ammount of time required to implement the improvements desired and specified by the design teams based upon the feedback.
2) Time Available: The ammount of time given a team based on outside factors within a given company to create any given game.
3) Time Allowable: The ammount of time that can pass between two games of the series before the fan base begins to lose interest and projected sales begin to decline.
MK is a BIG and popular franchise that has very strong roots in the industry. The Time Allowable is, thusly, much greater than that of an anime based game (which relies heavily on the series itself to maintain interest, a series which was ending in DBs case). Also, MK1, 2, 3, and UMK3 were the same game with new people tossed in. MK4 was MK1-UMK3 in 3D. I haven't played any of the newer ones.
