The cynical side of me doesn't believe that it's legitmate, but the young-at-heart DB fan in me is really hoping that there is a modicum of truth there. It's doubtful, but there's a sliver of hope.

Stopped reading at "canonized story." There's no way this is real or that a major film studio representative would speak like that.

No way they can have this movie out by this July or August. It often takes a year for these type of movies to get released in other countries. It seems like fans don't know how movie distribution works.

The only way this is true if Fox is doing the distributing themselves however you still have to factor in the time it takes to dub, Funi is more than likely swamped with the boo ark of Kai. Well unless they just plan to release it sub-only and release a bilingual release later on.

It kinda reminds me of Funimation's 2010 release of Dragon Ball Movie 1 for some reason.

I don't think it suggests that Saiyans can breathe in space.

The Saiyans are a warrior race that travels to the entire Universe to invade Planets and sell them. It is impossible that all the Planets have atmosphere and oxygen to breathe. So I think that Saiyans through many many years somehow developed how to breathe in Space or in environments that have no atmosphere.

They invade other planets with spaceships, and planets without a breathable atmosphere would almost certainly not have indigenous sentient beings that needed to be killed off before selling the planet. Therefore, it only makes sense for Saiyans to invade planets in which they can breathe.

Not to mention that the concept of breathing in space remains illogical like I pointed out. At most they wouldn't need to breathe but, as it has been shown in the manga, they need to breathe.

We've seen Goku needing to breathe in multiple occasions, like, for example, when he stays too long inside water while diving. In space there is no gas for him to breathe. Freeza most likely knows that Saiyans need to breathe. The conclusion seems pretty straightforward to me. All those other things could also be a problem for Goku, but not as immediately as being unable to breathe.

There's been newer reports.

Regarding the theatrical release, is expected to become effective in countries with the sublicense of Diamond Films in August or September of 2013 (including Mexico, where a chain was publishing its premiere in 2014). In the case of a possible delay in production would not until launch October of this year.

It's Toriyama himself who said maybe he can breath in space:

To think that they’d go all the way into the stratosphere……but thinking about it, they’re both aliens, after all. Maybe they can just barely breathe.

It seems O2 exists in space in Toriyama's universe (or, at least, in Toriyama's mind).

How would Goku be able to take the rabbit gang to the moon if he can't breathe in space? How does he fight with the god himself? How does Bardock fly all the way up there and then give a speech to Frieza and then go back through time?
