Now it turns into Zen Buu stomping everyone. Not that he wasn't already going to do that.

Herms wrote:The fact that the ridiculous power inflation is presented so earnestly makes me just roll my eyes and snicker. Like with Freeza, where he starts off over 10 times stronger than all his henchmen except Ginyu (because...well, just because), then we find out he can transform and get even more powerful, and then he reveals he can transform two more times, before finally coming out with the fact that he hasn't even been using anywhere near 50% of his power. Oh, and he can survive in the vacuum of space. All this stuff is just presented as the way Freeza is, without even an attempt at rationalizing it, yet the tone dictates we're supposed to take all this silly grasping at straws as thrilling danger. So I guess I don't really take the power inflation in the Boo arc seriously, but I don't take the power inflation in earlier arcs seriously either, so there's no net loss of seriousness. I think a silly story presented as serious is harder to accept than a silly story presented as silly.

People who call this twist bullshit are way too serious... This is both clever and hilarious, I like it.
Most importantly, this is the kind of plot twists that Akira Toriyama could definitely have written in early DB, Namek Saga or Buu Saga. The series definitely needs this kind of humor, especially after that godawful Future Gohan special.

The 1st Round of the semi-finals will most likely be Goku vs Vegeta, while the 2nd Round will most likely either be Bra vs Boo or XXI. If XXI really is the main villain, then he will defeat Boo, fight with Bra, and then defeat Bra as well. And then, we will have Goku vs XXI in the Final Round, with Goku as the winner.RandomGuy96 wrote:Now it turns into Zen Buu stomping everyone. Not that he wasn't already going to do that.

Why not? Round 2 is progressing much faster than I expected (I also assume that we will see the fights that Vegetto missed), and the next rounds should progress even faster.DNA wrote:Something tells me we are not going to see this tournament to it's end...

I can't believe I was right about how Vegetto would lose. I can't believe that we skipped 4 matches. I actually wanted to see if Eleim's tech could hurt Super Saiyan God(dess), and if Tenshinhan was so awesome that Buu decided to absorb him.
Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
That is just marvelous.
Although wow, that line from the novel about Bra putting Vegetto in his place is just bullshit.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

Maybe the plot will go back a little to show us what happened in the meantime.FoolsGil wrote:I can't believe I was right about how Vegetto would lose. I can't believe that we skipped 4 matches. Well, the whole thing between XXI and Old Kaioshin happened millions of years before, couldn't he have aged enough so that the old god wouldn't recognize him?Gyt Kaliba wrote:Well, we saw the little wizard guy, but according to Elder Kai, that's not who he was thinking it was. Yeah and how many people are gonna be unfairly thrown out of the tournament until they figure out how to avoid that technique? The even better question would be how the hell are they gonna avoid practically instantaneous magic?rereboy wrote:Well, I liked it. It was clever and funny. And nothing would be more boring than Vegetto stomping (almost) everyone or a villain that is just OMG-strong and nothing else. Now I'm curious to see what this will lead to.
Oh, and that ability doesn't make XXI invincible. Now that the other fighters know about it, I'm sure that at least some of them will figure out ways of avoiding it.

Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Maybe Ki shield? Maybe moving around really fast so he can't lock with his power/spell/thingy? Maybe making XXI unable to speak, by breaking his jaw or some other solution? Maybe blinding him so he can't focus his power/spell/thingy on you (solar flare ou other solution)? Other things?TheMightyOzaru wrote:Yeah and how many people are gonna be unfairly thrown out of the tournament until they figure out how to avoid that technique? It will depend on how his power actually works and what kind of limits it has, but as you can see there are tons of possibilities. I only listed the most obvious ones.
Also, not many fighters stand between XXI and the final so not many will actually have to deal with his ability in the tournament.

And why would a Ki shield prevent them from being sent to another dimension?

Why would a Ki shield prevent you from being absorbed but not from being miniaturized at the same time...?TheMightyOzaru wrote:And why would a Ki shield prevent them from being sent to another dimension?
Like I said, it depends on the limits of the power/technique/thing. And those are whatever the author wants.

That's a different story, the barrier prevented him from being assimilated which makes some degree of sense, but he was still taken into Buu's body. How in the heck would a barrier prevent you from being sent to another plane of existence?

Why not..? Why is one more believable than the other? Maybe a strong Ki shield can protect from most types and forms of magic, which is why Vegetto's shield worked agaisnt Buu's magic absorption but not from being miniaturized, and why it could protect from a magic attack that sends someone to another dimension. Or maybe the magic vibrations of the sound of the words proclaimed by XXI have to actually hit the opponent unfiltered for the technique to work and the shield would prevent that. Or some other explanation. All we need is a little imagination.TheMightyOzaru wrote:That's a different story, the barrier prevented him from being assimilated which makes some degree of sense, but he was still taken into Buu's body. I see it like this: the transportation didn't need to penetrate the barrier itself but the absorption needed, thus why one worked and the other failed.rereboy wrote:Why not..? Re: Fanmanga - DB Multiverse
Vegetto's shield merely prevented him from being assimilated. He was still shrunk and taken into Buu's body so clearly it won't prevent magic. If Vegetto's barrier technique can't prevent him from being shrunk, I don't see how anyone can prevent themselves from being sent to another dimension.rereboy wrote:Why not..? That was a brilliant plot twist. Honestly, I couldn't care for some of the upcoming fights, so lets keep this ball moving forward, baby!
My favourite art style (and animation) outside Toriyama who worked on Dragon Ball: Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru, Masaki Satō, Minoru Maeda, Takeo Ide, Hisashi Eguchi, Katsumi Aoshima, Tomekichi Takeuchi, Masahiro Shimanuki, Kazuya Hisada

That's possible too, yeah. Though you'd think Old Kaio-shin could look at him and think maybe it was what an older version of his old foe would look like or something, but eh...when have the Kaios ever been much help in this regard. I could buy that.omegalucas wrote:Well, the whole thing between XXI and Old Kaioshin happened millions of years before, couldn't he have aged enough so that the old god wouldn't recognize him?Gyt Kaliba wrote:Well, we saw the little wizard guy, but according to Elder Kai, that's not who he was thinking it was.
