Done.

Re: New Dbz best of Goku and Vegeta survey
They ask for your top 3 so here's what I decided on (in no particular order).
Goku's top 3:
Goku vs Vegeta - Brutal, unforgiving and displays two Saiyan warriors going toe-to-toe, pounding at eachother in a struggle that keeps shifting from one fighter's favour to the other's.
Goku vs Freeza - The most well known and iconic fight in the series and the first time we see a Super Saiyan - what more needs to be said?
Goku vs Perfect Cell - Another even fight in which both show off some great techniques. It has fantastic animation and we see Cell get blown to bits, but for once it's all in vain for Goku.
Vegeta's top 3:
Majin Vegeta vs Goku - As I had their first fight in Goku's top 3, I had to have the second in Vegeta's. Not a touch on the original, but it is still great to see them go at it again.
Vegeta vs Zarbon - I've always loved the sheer brutality in this fight, from both fighters. The way in which Vegeta finishes Zarbon off is beautifully gruesome.
Vegeta vs Reacoom - So much of what I love from Vegeta with his time on Namek is in this fight. He gets beaten to a pulp, but plays sneaky and plays smart to get shots in where he can.

Not sure how I feel about some of those "fights." Goku vs. Reacoom? Vegeta vs. Cell (post-regeneration)? If those kinds of "fights" make it onto the set I think we're all gonna be pretty disappointed. And I'm so spoiled here. I don't hang around any dubbies so I wanted to claw my eyes out because of the fan-termed names.
And also, I think Goku vs. Vegeta should be on there by default since it's all about them, and people are probably gonna choose that option anyway (it's on both Goku's and Vegeta's list).

Re: New Dbz best of Goku and Vegeta survey
Goku vs Reacoom is one of my favorite fights! It was actually the first DBZ fight I ever saw and it completely blew me away! Right after that, I was inspired to take my martial arts raining to a new level, ran outside, and started training right away. The level of speed and skill needed to stay that cool under pressure and the level of precise timing, accuracy, and focus needed to KO an opponent in one blow like that is amazing!Tyro wrote:Not sure how I feel about some of those "fights." To each their own, I guess.
Re: New Dbz best of Goku and Vegeta survey
For Goku I went with VS Majin Vegeta, VS Kid Buu, and VS Cell. For Vegeta, it was VS 18, VS Majin Buu, and VS 19. Just to include all possible fights, since Majin Vegeta VS Goku( and their fight in the Saiyan arc) is obviously on both lists and is going to get the most votes.

Re: New Dbz best of Goku and Vegeta survey
So I'm guessing this "new line of upcoming DVD releases" will be just select battles? I'm sorry, but unless these DVDs comes with something that none of the previous releases have had (like new special features or a complete redub), I'm not interested in these whatsoever.

These sets weren't made to appeal to people who would browse this forum. It's for the little jimmies and their parents wanting something cheap to shut them up.Fennekin wrote:So I'm guessing this "new line of upcoming DVD releases" will be just select battles? I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

If I want to just watch the fight scenes, I have access to YouTube.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

But FUNi dub is everywhere! Not to mention that most of them have the Season Sets as the source, and are mirrored.penguintruth wrote:If I want to just watch the fight scenes, I have access to YouTube.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Re: New Dbz best of Goku and Vegeta survey
I understand the nostalgia value but I just don't think fights that are completely one-sided like those I cited deserve to be in the running with monumental moments like Goku vs. Vegeta. It's kinda cool I guess that Goku knows he's the shit when he arrives on Namek but it's like, "dodged you, now I'm over here, now I'm back, your final attack, ...and killshot." IMO it should have been lumped as Goku vs. Ginyu Force with or without Ginyu himself. I just think it'd be too short, comparatively.Kendamu wrote:Goku vs Reacoom is one of my favorite fights! On the other hand I'm biased towards the manga and don't remember if the scene in question had any cool filler in it to buy some time. On the other other hand, when picking out Goku's best fights I think I declined to pick vs. Freeza because of it having too much filler! Makes me wonder how they're going to go about setting these up. Full episodes or pure fighting?

TheSunDestin nuff said. Being mirrored doesn't effect the clip IMO. Still the same thing just mirrored. Better than Funi Dub.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:But FUNi dub is everywhere! Re: New Dbz best of Goku and Vegeta survey
These were my picks:
Gokuu vs. Freeza (iconic)
Gokuu vs. Vegeta (just amazing and brutal for both of them)
Gokuu vs. Majin Vegeta (more of the same amazingness)
Vegeta vs. #18 (love the choreography on this one, especially as they're recklessly fighting on top of speeding cars on a highway)
Vegeta vs. #19 (Vegeta gets a true victory for once
)
Vegeta vs. Majin Boo (Mostly because of the tear-jerking ending)
Even my Gokuu picks mostly revolve around Vegeta...shows where my bias lies
The 2 Gokuu vs. Vegeta fights could have applied to either character, but I stuck them with Gokuu so I could have moar Vegeta
I do wonder how these will be presented. Many of the fights are multiple episodes long. Are they just gonna pick the final episode for fights that went on for a long time, or will they have as many episodes as needed to show the entire fight? (they're gonna need to make a multi-disc set if the Freeza fight gets picked!)
