I don't mind that they're only doing Z characters, I just hope the roster covers enough of them.
I'm in the boat of not minding GT characters, but I bet I AM one of the only ones who doesn't care for DB characters being included.
In fact, I'd rather GT over early DB, as those characters fit the gameplay better.

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

I remember someone here mention that people like Spike add GT characters and other movie characters like Broli because they are popular with American fans and these games are always market here in the US. I think people want GT characters because they want a character list to be more complete. I'm fine with DBZ only as long if the game is fun.SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:Hellspawn28 wrote:You're not alone since I don't care if we don't get GT characters. As an American I'm not sure about that honestly. Most people I talk to don't really care for the series but kinda like the characters for gaming only. Whenever the question comes up with people I'm talking to there is a collective head shake and sigh at the thought of it's existence.

Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
Eh story mode hasn't been the strong suit of any DBZ game since Budokai 1, So to me it doesn't matter how GT is incorporated into the game just as long as its in it.
And to be honest if GT was really the scum of existence, we probably wouldn't be having this discussion right now because Toei would've blacklisted it waaay before it got to America and in order to find anything on it we would have to lurk the the oldest alleys of Japan or Mexico and find the hobby shop behind the tunnel where the old man owner of the store has several raw tapes of episodes 36-42.
But no instead companies still make figures, posters, its included in art and guide books, its been part of current and past mainstream DB games and even got the DBox treatment. So I don't think GT is as irrelevant as some of you make it out to be but thats not what this topic is about.

Agreed.miguelnuva1 wrote:Negatives just keep adding on to this game. I am not trying to hate on the game I just feel the game is shooting it's self in the foot more for a game that had 2 years of development.

Just like having a large roster would benefit this team focused style of gameplay, I think potentially including GT characters (even if it's only in a sequel) would be a great move. Most people at least like the GT character themselves, but dislike the story that was told with them. The bright side? The story is being tweaked to accommodate the team battles, meaning they could take the opportunity to effectively rewrite GT to be at least a little better and more consistent in the process.Thanos wrote:I really think they could get away with including GT characters without including GT story. That's kind of all GT is good for anyway.

Yeah, that's what I meant. DB characters don't fit the style as well and might even restrict the gameplay which I wouldn't want.dbzfan7 wrote:GT characters fit the fighting style better. Personally, I've always thought that the 23rd Budokai would be a better "prologue level" for the various DBZ games than starting with Raditz. The characters fight like they do in DBZ, they fly like in DBZ, and it's a good chance to introduce everyone.Saiga wrote:Yeah, that's what I meant. I'm starting to give up on GT characters. I don't think they are ever coming back. At least we'll still get awesome dbz games yearly. That's still pretty cool

On what grounds? Just curious. I've seen more steps towards quality than any game so far. They've showed off different fighting types; special details in terms of character animations; a unique combat system; a new styled multiplayer that caters to a wide rage of game types; and a storymode that looks that not only encompasses DBZ but is willing to take liberties with it and try to keep it fresh. I don't see how we aren't getting a quality experience...so far. I haven't been able to play it but this is the first game in years I'm actually excited for.JeffJarrett wrote:I think we'll get neither quality nor quantity.

Namco Bandai finally gets DBZ to reboot its game series and still they aren't going to release a playable trial for the customers who're interested, this would put a boost on the pre-orders and popularity. Guess Namco Bandai doesn't like money.
Yeah I know that it costs developers to make a demo but doing so would have opened doors to new potential consumers because this will have 8 players in one battle arena, this idea is damn awesome just want to see how it turns out. Hopefully it's not laggy.
But really, why the hell does anyone want the same story again? Haven't you played the story times for over 30 times?
1) Online Play (This is what'd sell the collection or else a flop)
2) HD Graphics (they probably wouldn't look anywhere near as good as they do via PCSX2)
3) Kikuchi or BoZ soundtrack (Tenkaichi 3's replacement score is terrible // Basing off BoZ trailer the score of BoZ seems great)
No Online Play then NB might as well forget about Tenkaichi HD Collection. Budokai HD Collection flunked because of that too, even though some people bought it but not too many.

Dragon Ball: Ultimate Blast covers the series from the Saiyans to Majin Buu, Spike actually put more effort to filling the game with cutscenes everywhere than actually its gameplay. Well, playing DB:UB for the story mode is a good reason to give it a go. IMO, it's the best DBZ game that shows DBZ's story so far.vince90x wrote:I just want a game with the whole entire series. So.. Tenkaichi HD Collection with Kikuchi's synthesised music (modern sounding) for DBZ 2014 game release? I'd buy it, reasons below:DarkPrince_92 wrote:Thing is, if this game is a bust... we'll be stuck with it for two years.

Bad graphics, bad animations (Goku flying like a robot), they've copied the combat system on Spike's (so it's not unique).SparkyPantsMcGee wrote:On what grounds? Just curious. I've seen more steps towards quality than any game so far.
Liberties in the storymode, that's not new. Like previous games that took liberties with the story, it's not because of artistic choice, but because they couldn't do otherwise with their limited roster and lack of content (missing outfits, arena, etc.)
The only new feature is 8 characters fighting at the same time. It's their main selling argument. But with limited roster, team battles are boring.
And they admited in the interview with Treevax that the roster wouldn't be as high as previous games, which turns the 8 characters fighting at the same time pointless.
It makes no sense to include team battles while not including the teams that appeared and fought in cooperation in the series. Bojack's team for example, that's a good example of a faction with a good team work, and I'm sure they won't be in the game. While we'll certainly have Dabura and Majin Buu fighting together, while they were in fact opponents in the series. That's the kind of liberties in the storymode they are talking of.

It'd be cool to cover the whole GT story and all of its characters in a video game. GT might not have the greatest story and animated fights, but in a video game it could work wonderfully. And the villains are quite varied (except for the super 17 arc).

So, no Hero Mode, and DB & GT characters. Oh well, at least give us a good roster with DBZ characters, including the movies.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I'm just happy to hear that SSJ God and Beers will be in it without GT characters. BoG makes GT obsolete. SSJ4 is cool and all but we really don't need it.
