Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods"
Re: Official On-Going DBZ 2013 Movie Thread: "Battle of Gods
Hey guys. I still haven't pre ordered any of the Battle of Gods editions, mostly because I am in Europe and feel I will have a problem playing the Blu Ray, but it'd still be nice to have... Are they possible to preorder now, or is it too late?

I wonder if Battle of Gods will get into Poland in any shape or form. DBZ was always cursed on here due to the media, although somehow we still got Kai.

Someone who knows better than me might correct me, but I think that if you buy the disc, even if you can't play it, it's probably okay for you to download it.sangofe wrote:Hey guys. You gave them your money for the movie, so I guess it gives you the right to download it somewhere on the web without it being illegal, since you'll essentially download the exact content you paid for and have on the disc between your hands.
Well, that's how I see it logically, but I don't know if it's really like that officially.

I would suggest buying the DVD or Blu-Ray, and then ripping the video from it into a playable format, like say mp4 or something, which is playable on just about anything. Or burn a region-free copy of the DVD...
It's worked for me before with buying Region 2 DVDs.

Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

Morally that would be fine. I here it could be a technically be legal if you argue you just wanted a digital back-up.rereboy wrote:Morally that would be fine. It's only legal if you rip it yourself, I believe. Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong, though. The Monkey King wrote:I here it could be a technically be legal if you argue you just wanted a digital back-up.

No, you're right. The US law, at least, is roughly "You may keep 1 backup of material you own that you may keep for archival purposes, cannot distribute to others, and that you must dispose of if you deliberately get rid of the original media", which should allow for backups of anything you genuinely own, since so long as you aren't distributing the backup, it's existence is not costing the producer any more potential lost sales than taking and using the actual disc outside of your home.OmegaRockman wrote:It's only legal if you rip it yourself, I believe. Of course, fact that I'm not using the exact wording aside, this raises the questions of what constitutes "archival purposes" (Can you even use the backup?), and if you are allowed to keep the backup if you genuinely lose the original physical media- both of which defeat the purpose of the backup

This yahoo listing appears to indicate that Hong Kong viewers will be getting a Chinese and English subtitled theatrical print of the dbz movie. I see this as a good indication that the HK dvd/bluray release of the film will have english subs. Either way, I'm picking it up for sure.
No word on a cantonese dub yet. Tvb's dbkai voice cast were all pretty decent. I hope they get these back for battle of gods.

I imported the Limited Edition from Play-Asia because it looked too cool to pass up. Does anyone know a good Region-Free DVD player? I've noticed a lot of them have USB support. Is it possible to play sub files off of those with unsubbed DVD's?

I would just like to point out that pretty much every Japanese anime-BluRay I know of is region-free and so I seriously doubt you would have any trouble playing it.sangofe wrote:Hey guys. I just got a blu-ray, so I'm definitely will buy the BOG blu-ray that will surely be distributed by either Funimation or Fox!

And I seriously doubt that the "Battle of Gods" Blu-ray will be region free. It's currently listed on Amazon Japan as being "Region A" and all of the Dragon Ball Kai Blu-rays I purchased were "Region A". On top of that, knowing that it will eventually be available internationally, I doubt they'd release it region free so other countries could import it and reduce their own sales. It just wouldn't be smart business sense.Vegard Aune wrote:I would just like to point out that pretty much every Japanese anime-BluRay I know of is region-free and so I seriously doubt you would have any trouble playing it.sangofe wrote:Hey guys. Although I could be entirely wrong since Toei has released some of their global mega-hits, like One Piece, region free. But to be fair, those releases are marked as region free on Amazon Japan.

I'm going to hold out for a FUNI release since it's easier, cheaper and it will have Steve Simmon's subtitles (right?). All I have to do is wait it out for an announcement and a release.
Anyone else doing the same?

I will likely watch the fan subs of the movie then buy it on Blu-Ray. I will buy a official release of a movie or show despite watching the fan subs of the movie or show. I watch all of DBZ movie in subs long before they were released here in the US, but I still bought them on DVD.

STILL no subbed version online.
I remember some guy on YouTube saying he'd have it up a LONG time ago LOL

I'll probably be doing what Hellspawn28 is doing by watching the fan sub first (and possibly feel a bit bad by doing so) and then buy the movie when the official release is out.

If Castañeda and García are returning, I'd assume that anyone from the original cast they can get back will be back. Segundo seems like he would be easily able to get a hold of (at least with the dubbing studio), haha.Zombie wrote:So **cking glad for this. I'm still hoping that we get an English dub sooner than later and also that the English dub goes with Beers/Beerus/Birus over Bills. Never liked that romanization (even I understand why the second l was added, Bils would look even weirder) it's odd and even though it was on a Japanese product, seems like a DB Wikia creation.
