Recently I've been questioning this arcs quality. In a lot of ways it's flawed in it's executions, especially concerning how Gohan was handled. The tone could be a turn off to some, though it didn't bother me. I usually would say it's my favorite arc....but maybe that's up in the air nowadays. It still holds a special place in my heart.

Though I don't think it's the worst. The worst would be the Boo arc, which is also the best arc (try and figure that one out).

What story? A completely mess? Did you mean "a complete mess"? Or "completely a mess"?
It's pretty obvious what he means. No need to mock someone's English.
TheGmGoken wrote: Seriously Gohan randomly becoming a pacifist felt so random. Yes we know he's not the biggest fan of fighting but he was willing to do so in the Namek arc even after finding out about Freeza. The Cyborgs were randomly strong despite the fact of Gero only collecting data of everything pre Namek and after Red Ribbon. At most with technology they should be 530,000 Freeza's first form. Seeing as Vegeta was at 180,000. Okay I like 16 speech and it was a great one. But we all know that Gohan went SSJ2 because of 16 dying not the speech. So Piccolo could have easily did that. He charges in despite Goku's word and dies. He can give the same speech but add a little Piccolo flavor to it. Have both Piccolo and Goku dead would have Gohan over come sad-ness in the Boo Arc.

The energy eater should have played a MUCH bigger role. 1 episode it's a huge deal then the next.....it's useless. Hell it could have be written out as thee Cyborg were weak but took energy to get stronger. Cell at first was great but as soon as he became perfect he pretty much became an idiot. He made the SAME mistakes as Vegeta and Trunks. I honestly think Birsu persona could have been used for Cell minus the whole pudding incident and Cell being more evil.
Gohan was willing to fight in the Saiyan and Namek sagas because it was the right thing, not because he desired to do so. He also was willing to fight Cell; he was just trying to see if he could persuade Cell to not fight. Gohan didn't go Super Saiyan 2 because of 16 dying. He was already going to become a Super Saiyan 2 anyway as he watched his friends get pummeled by the Cell Juniors. 16 no longer had a purpose after Cell blew him to pieces, so it made sense to kill him off. Gohan was already over depression in the Buu saga.

the comedy itself was enough to make the arc enjoyable, not to mention the amazing atmosphere, and beside it was the beginning of everything.. how Goku met Bulma, Oolong, Yamucha and Puaar. whenever i feel bored and feel like to watch some DB, i watch one of the episodes of the first arc, so enjoyable!

Now the RRA arc is the most boring one, until Tao Pai Pai appears, it get more interesting.

The journey is travelling over a lot of flat, barren land, meeting losers who present zero challenge for the hero, and beating a largely nonthreatening enemy via magical monkey monster. It's not exciting enough to be a fighting story and it's not funny enough to be a comedy.

DB didn't get super interesting until a little cue ball with no nose and a bag full of porn shows up and he and Goku train for a kick ass tournament where they fight a dinosaur and a big smelly f***.

Personally, I think Dragonball really picked up at the 22nd World Martial Arts Tournament. More interesting villains and fights.

I think it was a good start up Arc. Not the best but not the worst IMO. But I didn't really get into Dragonball till as you said Krillin with all the training. Damn memories. Makes me want to watch Dragonball first Budokai Arc before school starts again.

seems like you're talking about the Red Ribbon Army arc, like i said in my post i agree with you. it's so boring, with 0% interesting characters and boring fights. but the first arc of Dragonball was good cuz of the main cast, Bulma, Oolong, Yamucha and Puaar. with them it made the atmosphere of the arc so much better, the comedy was hilarious. the RRA has some funny moments here and there, but the problem is the character are so bald. what makes the comedy so good in the first arc was the main cast.

Yeah, but before that the series had comedy, which makes up for the lack of excitement we had compared to the 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai and the rest of the series.

For me every arc has its highs and lows but overall I still thoroughly enjoy every arc of DBZ.

My issues with the Cell/Android saga are as listed.

* The Androids being as strong as they are, at least in 17 and 18's case. I get they were built to be the ultimate fighting machines, but the fact is these two were your average human teens who likely had power levels of what, 1-3 max? I just dont really buy how some parts, not matter how advanced can make a human capable of owning a Super Saiyan. If they were full robot like 19 and 16, id be less skeptical as I could see a robot built solely for the purpose of fighting the Saiyans such as Hatchiyack but 17 and 18 seem abit far fetched in my opinion. Could you imagine the strength of a Saiyan turned Android?

* The stupidity of choices made by some characters. Krillin and Vegeta are the sole reasons Cell became such a major threat in the first place. Vegeta could have annihilated Cell in his second form yet allowed Cell to absorb 18 and gain his perfect form. Krillin is even worse, having the means to prevent Cell from achieving perfect form even if he got ahold of 18. His desperation for a girlfriend essentially caused the death of his best friend, robbed his best friend's son of a father, and nearly got the world destroyed.

* Mr.Satan. Just Mr.Satan in general. I know hes meant to be the way he is and for comedic relief but good lord every time I hear this guy talk, brag, or otherwise, I just want someone to ki blast him off the face of the earth. I actually rooted for Cell when he backhanded Satan into the cliffside.

Other than that, I really enjoy the Android/Cell arc. Goku's fight with Cell is easily one of the top 5 fights in all of DBZ, Gohan's SSJ2 debut was amazing, Future Trunks is a great character and possibly one of the smartest in terms of battle, and Cell was just a freaking awesome villain, going from a mysterious and nearly terrifying bug like villain into a villain with a calm, confident, and cool personality with plenty of power to back it up.

On a side note, this saga gave us Movie 7, which in turn gave us a answer to the long asked question, what if Goku absorbed a Spirit Bomb, and it answered the question in epic fashion.

Didn't that happen to Bardock iN DBO or was that mind control?
The Androids being as strong as they are, at least in 17 and 18's case.
I Still think energy eater should have been much more important. It only useful for like 3 seconds. I see the androids being weak and taking the energy of Z fighters to power up. Cheap but nice fighting tactics.
His desperation for a girlfriend essentially caused the death of his best friend, robbed his best friend's son of a father, and nearly got the world destroyed.
You must not understand! The power of a female can make you do stupid things. Which was way to far IMO for Krillin. In a way had Cell been destroyed by Gohan before he spat up. 18 would be dead. Unless Krillin wishes her back  .
actually rooted for Cell when he backhanded Satan into the cliffside.
I would honestly replace him with the old Tenkaichi Budokai fighters. I also cheered Cell when he fought Gohan(when he was being a little bitch)

1. Yes in DBO, Bardock is being mind controlled. I don't believe his body had any Android like modifications added to it.

2. The energy absorbing technique was used in GT with a much greater effectiveness, as I believe Super 17 could absorb energy without the nodes that were previously required (someone check into that please).

3. Id get it if Krillin was in his teens, but hes what, in his mid to late 20's if not older at that time? Youd think the little baldy would have control of his hormones by now.

1. You're right

2. Yes you're right again. He uses his chest. But it should have been used better in the Cyborg arc. Otherwise the Cyborg's power should't be above 530,000 since they only stuided post RRA Arc and Saiyan Arc.

3. Hey. When you can't get....women for 20(maybe 30) years and a hot girl like 18(convince her name is Emerald ) kisses you. You take the chance. Now if the world is on the line...you're a dumbass if you follow the girl. Besides he could always WISH(I'm sure Dende would still become Kami) her back to life or have Dr. Brief fix her up

No, the Artificial Human arc is far worse. When Cell first appears there was a sense of mystery, tension and also horror, Cell was an interesting villain, sucking up life force, silently going around killing people... the fight between Piccolo and #17 was also good but then Cell absorbs #17 and it gets boring again until probably the Cell Game despite Gohan's sudden pacifism. I also liked Cell's perfect form design.
It is in his character to be rude and a bit crass. He's a hick, with no formal education. That is Son Goku. That is who he is.

Superman in an orange Gi was the bastard son of FUNimation. Its not The real character, it is as false as Chatku.

If Krillin is possibly in his 30's it REALLY makes me question his morals when hes trying to hook up with a 18 year old and nearly getting the world destroyed over her. I also thought Dr. Brief wasent experienced enough to reverse the Android conversion and even if he knew how, doesn't her mention he doesn't have the experience to pull it off? Its like the difference between reading how to ride a bike, and actually riding the bike.

Wait she's really 18 :wtf: ? Well then even without Brief he still got Dende and the new set of balls. But damn Krillin is worst than Gohan(Cell Arc)

Not really, Goku knew he was stronger than even Freeza's strongest form and he wanted to psychologically crush Freeza. He wasn't just looking for a better fight.
