That was 17-16 years ago. Do you guys want GT to be the last DB series forever? Yeah it sucked, but we can't allow another series from happening because of GT. It's like saying that we should not go Batman Begins - Dark Knight Rises because of Batman & Robin.dbzfan7 wrote:Movie's and ovas sure. Another Series? No way. We already tried that and got GT which was lackluster.

More new movies (and more ssjg Goku) yes. X3
A new series though? I dunno; most of Toei's animation budget seems like it's being used for Precure rather than their shounen properties. Briefly going back to BOG, compare the CGI there to the CGI in the latest Precure's ED animation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZnLaEK9QLSQ The quality difference is night and day.
Also, one of the current series Cures has a fire theme, I'd have loved to have seen fire animation like this for ssjg Goku instead of that cgi fire BOG used: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kN6ukfzFpXY (I think this is Naotoshi Shida's work too.)
I feel like a new DB series would have the same budget issues as One Piece faces weekly; I wouldn't want that. I got glimpses of it during that DB/OP/Toriko crossover. T_T
Not that BOG's budget was anything to write home about, but if they do more movies, I'd think the chances of a bigger budget would be higher than for a series.

I would like to see what new type of gods that they will create next. Birus seems to be inspire by Anubis then the other gods could be inspire by other gods from mythology. Maybe a god inspire by the Elder Ones from At the Mountains of Madness would be cool to see.

I would like a new ARC, thats it, after that DBZ can end with a bang, anything that erases DBGT from everyone´s mind.
The 12 Gods Arc has potential, hope at least its done like it in Saint Seiya with the 12 houses Arc.
Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
The Cure Ace transformation was indeed Shida Naotoshi's work. Toei runs Shida around like a madman doing a few cuts on each series at once so it's not surprising to see his work appear on two or three different Toei shows in a single month. On Dragon Ball Shida would be credited for doing key animation on just about one episode every month, for example.Chuquita wrote:More new movies (and more ssjg Goku) yes. X3

More then two SGG's. That would be awful I can barely stand Super Saiyan God as is. We need to give the other characters chances.

Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
I'm not sure if I want a new series, but I definitely don't want a movie series. Not only I don't want every 2-3 years to watch it (since the Home Release takes forever to come out), not only I don't want to spoil myself half a year before I see the movie (like with BoG), but I also don't want to see only Goku getting the good stuff like Super Saiyan God & big great fights. Look at BoG. We only got beat-downs & a final fight, while there were more fights planned originally. But why didn't we see these fights? Because there is not enough time.
So, it would be a thousand times better to get a new series IMO.

James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.
Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
DBZGTKOSDH has probably made the most convincing argument for me for a series instead of movies.
The waiting period for Battle of Gods was too much for too little.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
I'd prefer little mini-stories here and there rather than a new series. Some OVAs on Freeza's past, Planet Vegeta before the Tsufruians were killed off, the future of Trunks' timeline, Goku fighting Freeza and Cold in Trunks' timeline, Goku training Uub, the 25th Tenkaichi Budokai, the cataclysm on Namek, the nameless Namekian's adventures prior to becoming Kami, would all be pretty cool to see, in my opinion.
Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
I wouldn't want a whole new story set after the Buu arc. I feel that the characters are too absurdly powerful for anything new to come of it, the Saiyan characters have already established too much dominance for it to be undone, and the story is long enough already.
What I'd really love is a full-fledged remake. I mean new animation, new music, new script, a fleshed-out story that could include new filler of sorts, but written by Toriyama, with whole new stories potentially coming out of time skips, maybe even changes to existing events or new surprise plot-twists that Toriyama wants to make or likes the sound of. What I'm thinking is basically "What Dragon Ball would be if Toriyama and Toei had planned it out over the course of 30 years before making it".
I know some people would complain that "it's the same thing again". I'm definitely not one of those people, but the thickening of the story with new side-plots, twists, and stuff between arcs means there's a lot of new stuff there too. That's my ultimate Dragon Ball dream. If I'm ever a billionaire, the only thing stopping me from giving 99% of my money to Toei to fund that project would be my conscience telling me that there are much less selfish causes to support.

Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
Well, only thing outside of our opinions and ''I don't know'' statements we can get is either nothing or some anouncement in future.
As I don't believe that there will be weekly series or slowly dying OVA format, BoG actually made the best setup that could've happened all those years after the end of original series, for some bigger start of the franchise happening again.
The video games milked themselves dry and those short specials were nice add for the fans, but nothing major. I think that after the end of the show and release of Budokai and US era, this is the biggest return of the series at least for some time, until it vanishes as far as they won't make anything new after this.

Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
If we want Dragonball to live on, we need a new series within the next 5 years.
Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
Actually if we had an OVA arc thing like Hellsing Ultimate then maybe I would be okay with that. Keep the episode count short though.

Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
God, I hope not. Unless they go for a flat-out remake (and even then...), Dragon Ball just needs to stop. For good. It's already told its stories. It's arguably gone on longer than it's needed to. This is one of those things that I feel well-meaning fandoms end up screwing up. They just need their fix so badly that they push for more and more content, even if there's really no need for it. Unless there's a very, very, very good reason to revive a story that's already ended, it's usually better to let something die gracefully than to try to reanimate its corpse.

Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
Kai was nothing new, so it doesn't count. As of 2013, GT is the last DB series since it was a sequel to DBZ. I would like to see Toei and AT team up to create a true sequel to DBZ and ignore GT. I think a DB Heroes series is a likely bet. A DBH series means new characters which will allow Bandai to sell new cards and toys. I'm not sure if I want DB Heroes to turn Dragon Ball even more toy gimmicky then it was before. To me, the Buu saga already felt one big toy commercial with so many new transformations and fusions happening so quickly.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Dragon Ball Kai says "hi".Hellspawn28 wrote:Do you guys want GT to be the last DB series forever?
You know Episode of Bardock was a manga first? Blame Naho Ooishi for making a story that was stupid and confusing then Toei. They just animated it. Re: The Rebirth Of DBZ: A New Series?
Of course I know that. I hear Toriyama supervised it apparently and it still sucked. Toriyama puts his trust in Naho Ooishi. Do we want more people who write stories like EOB, no thanks. The closest thing I'd be fine with is an Ova series like Hellsing Ultimate (I mean in episode count not tone). Keep it as a short arc. If they can come up with something good there, then make a new series. You know Episode of Bardock was a manga first? Blame Naho Ooishi for making a story that was stupid and confusing then Toei. I don't really like Naho Ooishi's work but I don't blame her for EoB. I doubt they give her any type of creative freedom when it comes to the story. They just needed to promote that Heroes card.Hellspawn28 wrote: You know Episode of Bardock was a manga first? Blame Naho Ooishi for making a story that was stupid and confusing then Toei. Honestly, I'd be thrilled with a new movie series based on the world established in BOG. A new movie every 3-4 years would be amazing.
