The announced lack of in-game transformations really has caused my interest in and want for this game to take a very steep dive. Those transformations are one of the most prevalent things in these games that really make them feel like Dragon Ball, they've almost always been there, and taking them away just seems to hurt that experience. I'd much rather have that than the ability to play with 7 other people at once which would actually happen maybe once out of every 100 play sessions.

That's true, I guess I'd take out regular late teen Gohan for his Super Saiyan state, more so because of Battle of Gods. Are 5 Vegetas too much, next to Gohan, though? Not too confident in Chilled being there, myself. But with Super Saiyan Bardock there, and Chilled not having been in Kinect...don't know. Coola is certainly more popular than Slug, but you CAN'T do a 360º battle with Coola.JeffJarrett wrote:I think there is more chance to see a Super Saiyan Son Gohan rathen than a Super Saiyan 2 Vegeta, since there's already Majin Vegeta and too much Vegeta characters in the game. Also, Gohan turns Super Saiyan in Battle of Gods. I also don't think Chilled will be there this time, they'll save him for the sequels... if they sell enough to make one. And Cooler is more popular than Slug or Wheelo. DBZGTKOSDH's list is closer to what we'll have in the game in my opinion.
True, but they are saying "over 70 playable" anyway, (even if it just means 71) and the 5 giants don't count for that part.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:You went over the number of character slots on the Japanese website; 75. Should have matched his list of 67-3-5...
Maybe something more like this, then?

For one thing I wish Battle of Z would do better would be the character roster design, in RB1 it was great but RB2 just made it a mess and confusing (imo).

I'll admit that there was this one time which I got lost to find where an X character was because they were all spread out on the bottom. It's one of the few things I don't like about RB2 and it felt like they took out of the mugen-type games.
Although Nostal's idea would have been worse than RB2's roster design:

Are we certain that the giants don't count as playable yet? I'm not saying it's likely, but there was that interview with the guy asking if giants were playable because it would be really cool, and the rep just kept saying he wasn't allowed to talk about it. So there could be a mode where you can control a giant or something. *No idea, just going off the website's numbers.*Rukura wrote:True, but they are saying "over 70 playable" anyway, (even if it just means 71) and the 5 giants don't count for that part.

Well, what I hated most when selecting character in every Spike game was, that I didn't saw the costume change so unless you learned about what costumes are on each costume slots.
This maked me always confused and it was pain in the ass. Onwards from Budokai 2, Dimps got it right.

Now THAT would be an incredible jab at Spike's Sparking series. To finally not only have giant characters...but at their proper scale? I'd be all for it. I have no idea how balancing out such characters to be playable would work, but it'd be a great new feature.TheDevilsCorpse wrote:Are we certain that the giants don't count as playable yet? (Also, noticed in the trailer "The first all-new DBZ game in over two years". Yeah, not at all lol)
Except in Raging Blast 1, where you could actually see the costumes before selecting them. Absolutely hated not being able to see them in the other Spike games.MCDaveG wrote:Well, what I hated most when selecting character in every Spike game was, that I didn't saw the costume change so unless you learned about what costumes are on each costume slots.

how accustomed are we to previous dbz games' button layout/control scheme?????????? .
I "KNOW" THAT I will feel "awkward" with the new layout

Someone hit me up when Krillin, Tien, Yamcha, Chiaotzu
, Goten, Buu, and Gohan
become relevant again
Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
Can't we just like, go to the options and change them? Unless it's a multiple button action changing the button layout should be fine.
Anyway, I really hope they have really made each character form unique and interesting, because in a 3D DBZ game where you can have 4 vs 4, It is disappointing.
(Also, fuck the character select screens from the recent games, I miss playing B1 and SSW2 and seeing 2d artwork for every character).

I love how in museum mode (or what ever it's called) I could check out the models for the characters as well.Nightstar1994 wrote:dat badass RB1Rukura wrote: Except in Raging Blast 1, where you could actually see the costumes before selecting them. I really would have liked to see character creation return, it was not a bad idea, it was just under developed. Same with hero mode. Both were good ideas that could have been done really well.
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
The only thing keeping this a pre-order for me is possibly playing as SSJ Bardock. I get why they have to leave the transformations because the engine and all that but I hope they have more moves. I honestly would have rather waited for something on the next gen consoles if this is what we are going to get. I may just get this off gamefly.

This game really looks awesome. It really looks like Legends!! In legends you couldn't transform... Or could you? Can't remember.
Looks fun with all the mayhem there will be! Haven't bought a dragonball game for consoles since Burst Limit!
But yeah, the only reason I want this game is cause it reminds me a lot of Legends.

Legends isn't boring, and it respects the original story. Also, the characters have their original moveset, they don't gain the ability to fire healing Ki Blasts because of classes that don't even exist in the original series.

They do exist in the original series. SS Goku gave energy to Freeza so he can move.JeffJarrett wrote:Also, the characters have their original moveset, they don't gain the ability to fire healing Ki Blasts because of classes that don't even exist in the original series.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.
Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Anyone else find it odd that Whis is a playable character? I mean, sure, he's a new character and we know he's strong, but in the actual film he really doesn't do all that much apart from that karate chop at the end...ah well, he has a cool design.

Re: "DBZ: Battle of Z" (360/PS3/Vita) On-Going Discussion Th
If they can find a way to make the transformations unique enough to excuse them for not being in-game I can forgive them. Like if there are statistical benefits; for example Super Saiyan 3 Goku can be statistically faster and stronger but energy consumption is high and his attacks or more ki based instead of melee, whereas Base Goku utilizes less ki and is more balanced combat wise but his attacks don't hit as hard. This could lead to interesting battles and give reason to use the Base or early Super Sayians instead of trying to be the most powerful form in the game.Kaboom wrote:The announced lack of in-game transformations really has caused my interest in and want for this game to take a very steep dive. What concerns me though is the supposed button layout. I'm clinging on to the fact that it wasn't official but the way the buttons are supposedly set up are not only awkward but simple looking. I believe there was only one attack button and specials are just L1 and L2. That doesn't sound to exciting, but we'll see.
...Wait what are you doing? Are you still reading this? I finished what I had to say, why don't you move on to the next post?
