I'd love it if they made a sequel to the Path to Power actually, about the Saiyan saga. Since there's a bunch of anniversaries coming up.

Yeah, I'm somewhat sad he rarely does it, if ever

Like that time when he came up with the Makaioh and Makaioshin. Just where did those ideas go? Has he forgotten about them already? :?

At least Goku lost for once in BOG. Goku always win in the other DBZ movies and killed every main villain expect for Garlic Jr, Bojack, Janemba, Bio-Broli and Broli (Debatable). If we get a anniversary movie then maybe they can do a throw back to the RR army. The movie can take place a few years before Birus returns and Goku has to fight #22 which was created by Gero's secret lab. It been a long time since we had the RR army do anything useful.

Gohan/Videl wacky romantic comedy.

But on a serious note, I'd like to see something in between the Cell games and the Buu saga.

Well, as for what the movies need,

Honestly, instead of more movies, I'd like a bunch of short OVA's focusing on the minor characters at random times. Like Krillin during the Android training, or Tien's training during the 7 year gap. A Mr. Satan special, set between the Buu Arc and the 28th Budokai would be great, and could showcase more of the Satan/Buu relationship.

...*sighs* I'm really loving that we can't have a topic even remotely related to Battle of Gods without people acting like the film literally drove by and kicked them repeatedly in the groin. I get that it's not the film everyone wanted, but if it's easily the 'worst thing ever' to you, I seriously have to wonder what about Dragon Ball you enjoy to begin with.

I could get behind either or both of these ideas. But if we do continue to get movies moving forward rather than re-makes or character-based specials, then I want something giving Pan and Oob their due finally.

Travel. BOG spent too much time in Bulma's backyard. I enjoyed seeing Beers' planet and the globe-hopping in the ssjg vs Beers battle, but I want to see more travel, possibly intrinsic to the plot.

There can be humor without it being completely infantile and obnoxious like in Battle of Gods. Dragon Ball? Great. The Ginyu Force? Pretty funny. Pink shirt Vegeta? Also funny. The driver's license episode? Hysterical.

And exactly what comedic parts in BoG are you finding to be 'infantile'? All of the stuff with Beers, like his trouble waking up, was amusing. The Pilaf gang's antics were great as usual, though perhaps overstaying their welcome a little bit. And as much as it makes me want to smack Gohan, there's something hilariously morbid about him causing his wife to get shot.

I give BoG the merit of being huge movie after so much years, but I would like to see more of other characters in possible next movie. Well, Kuririn and co. are as good as dead after the Namek arc, but Vegeta, Gohan, Goten and Trunks having big role, like it was before Movie 8, when the one great hero started to appear to solve the crisis as sole and only (Movie 8 - Goku, 9, 10 - Gohan, 12 - Goku/Gogeta - Vegeta was fodder for fusion, 13 - Goku. Movie 11 is exception and I like the Goten/Trunks action).

I made a similar thread a while ago, so I'll quote myself:
DragonBoxZTheMovies wrote:With Battle of Gods beginning its crawl around the globe and the door being left wide open for another film, I was wondering what you guys would like to see in the next DB/DBZ film. Not just in terms of story, but also marketing, production, etc.

From what I've heard, Battle of Gods seems relatively safe in everything it does (aside from the ending), which makes sense, given what the franchise had been through in recent years. However, since we've seen that a theatrical DBZ Movie can be a huge hit, I was thinking that they should perhaps be a little more ambitious if there's a "next time". With that said, here's my list:

- Longer run-time. Perhaps another 5 or so minutes would help separate it from the likes of DBZ Movie 8 and the 10th Anniversary Movie.

- Not just a good DB movie, but a genuinely good stand-alone feature. Something that you can use to showcase the DB franchise and interest the general movie-going public.

- Large scale plot. I know Dragon Ball has globally-catstrophic events all the time and I know that things have to return to normal by the end, but I'd like a story that feels like it has some sort of consequence or impact on something, even if you have to create more characters or planets to achieve that.

- More settings. You want the viewer to feel like they're experiencing the DB franchise in a way they can't possibly get from reading the Manga or watching the Anime at home, and I find one of the ways to do that is to introduce a host of large and expansive settings. I felt that in BOG we spent too long in Bulma's backyard, instead of getting the opportunity to explore the DB universe. I know we had space and Beerus's Castle, but I don't think they were used as much as I would've liked. Don't get me wrong, I think it's also important to keep those familiar locations too, just to remind yourself that you're watching a DB film. Believe it or not, they can also add to the experience if they're designed and animated in a way that is new to the viewer

- Tie-in with the existing DB story. I liked how BOG did this too, you feel like the movie has more relevance if it relates to something you already know.

- Have Toriyama involved again. I think it's important to have input from the man himself. Gives it that genuine Dragon ball flavour, and it draws public interest too.

- Crank up the budget on the animation. It does seem a little inconsistent at times, from what I've seen in BOG, and I think I'd like a darker, more orange-y shade to it- don't know why, but to me those sorts of colours really generate a movie atmosphere for me.

- Good Merchandise. During the build-up to the film, I felt there was a real lack of decent merchandise. Sure, we had the Chozenshuu, but those didn't feel like they directly tied in with the film; despite new information in relation to BOG being a major draw for them. I feel like we needed a line of decent figures. The ones that did come out really went unnoticed for the most part

So overall, I think Battle of Gods was a fun, neat film (from what I've heard), but it did keeps its feet firmly planted on the ground for the most part. In a future movie, I'd like to see a bit more ambition and effort put into making this thing a "movie", as opposed to, I dunno, a glorified Jump Special? It's almost similar to The Simpsons Movie in a way, where people felt it was simply a longer episode in a theatre and that the "bigness" of the film's plot was fabricated by the dome and the trip to Alaska.

I really enjoyed Battle of Gods, but something more ambitious would be nice and generally a movie that anyone can watch on its own (kinda like One Piece Movie 6! :D).

Battle of Gods did feel like DBZ. I don't know what universe you're living in, but it's clearly not this one.

Battle of Gods had the Toriyama flare so I'm not sure what the heck you're looking for :| .

A distinct villain with some personal quirk (I was listening to AjayLikesGaming's BoG unboxing discussion and it was brought up that a lot of the movie villains are effectively the same character reskinned, that's a great way to put it!), some character downtime before the final battle to give weight to the conclusion, and a battle worth the wait. Supporting characters would be nice, too. I know they can be the bane of other annual shonen anime movies, either annoying or just token and unmemorable, but seeing as Dragon Ball's only done it once, and did it very well that one time, I think it could be a risk to take again.

Frankly, Battle of Gods did most of these things very well already, so it makes me hopeful for any future movies. To throw down an opinion, I would call it the challenge of finding the right mix between Dead Zone's lean-to-a-fault pacing, The World's Strongest's slow-burning build-up, and Battle of God's more traditional settled -> rising -> climax -> falling structure.

put someone other than Goku and Gohan in the spotlight for a change... i say let Vegeta be the main character of the story this time, and even the hero. He's the prince of all Sayians, so make a story around why he's the prince of all Saiyans... dont get me wrong, Goke is an awesome character, but I'm tired of seeing Goku get all the action, all the glory, and all the praise.

put Goku in a position that he knows nothing about, and let it be Vegeta that makes the decisions, the calls, and fights in the battle if needed be (and usually, it does). do SOMETHING different, please. in every movie, the one person that has never got a complete spotlight is Vegeta... it's high time he had his spotlight, and I want to see him glorified for who he is and what he can do in a new movie. Make it an important thing about being the prince of Saiyans... some sort of prophecy or something, i dont know... but make it be about Vegeta.

- Beerus and Whis returning
- New antagonist(s), possibly from another Universe, with Beerus and Whis becoming protagonists
- I'd like to see it take place either after Goku leaves with Uub, or close enough to the 28th Tenkaichi Budokai to see some damn growth on Goten, Trunks, and Marron
- Nothing at all to do with Super Saiyan God. I like the form enough, but I'd rather it not overstay its welcome
- Maybe please for the love of god have Piccolo do something useful? Maybe against a lower minion enemy? Please? Maybe #18, Tenshinhan, Krillin, and Yamcha could take some out as well?
- Wouldn't mind the overall tone to be a tad more serious, but it'd still love a good deal of Toriyama humor to still be there
- Speaking of which, same amount of Toriyama involvement, if not more
Rocketman wrote:Super Zygote Pan was a bad idea.
How so?
Kuwabara wrote:Battle of Gods is aimless, puerile bullshit (That's saying a lot with this series). Lord Slug and Return of Cooler are terrible films in their own right but I'd still watch those over Battle of Gods, at least they have somewhat decent action. I thought the final fight of Battle of Gods might save it but they couldn't even get that right, just incredibly mediocre, Naruto/Bleach movie level ADHD nonsense coupled with terrible CGI and "dynamic camera movements," great!
There's more to a Dragon Ball story than action. Well, any Dragon Ball story worth watching/reading.

I agree with what one of the early comments said, the movie did sort of feel like it was all about the reunion and that's sorta ok being it was the first movie in 17 years but I think when they have too many characters in a film that isn't very long too begin with then it only hurts it in the end.

As for some of those wanting it to focus on the history of the Dragon Ball's or Namek or secondary characters during parts of DBZ that stuff is unnecessary. If anything it should be done for an OVA or something but the movies need to move forward.

To go into slightly more detail of what I'd like (because I wasn't expecting that many replies).

- I agree that a longer runtime would be very welcome. Battle of Gods was 85 minutes. One Piece Film Z was 107 minutes. The next movie should at least another 15 minutes longer.

- The animation seemed too bright and cartoony looking while the other films looked more natural. It'd be nice if they could get that tone of animation from the series but just better.

- A larger budget would go towards the extended runtime and increased quality of the animation. BoG was successful so they could spend another couple million on it for sure.

- The cast should involve Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin and Gohan from the main universe travelling to another universe out of curiosty and a chance to look for stronger enemies. People like Satan, Oolong, Videl, Chi Chi and so on should just be left out of it. Bring back Bills and Whis and introduce another few new characters.

- It needs a greater sense of urgency. BoG had none, infact Goku didn't seem to care at all that his planet may be at stake. The Goku/Frieza fight and the Gohan/Cell fight had a lot of that so it needs to recreate that.

- No new forms, just let Goku reach the heights of his new God form.

- A lot more comedy, starring Buu, maybe Tarble and his wife. Way more Trunks and Goten. Lots of Great Saiyaman

- A lot less Vegeta. Make him think he's as powerful as Goku but then it turns out Goku surpassed him again. Not only does he not go SSJ God or SSJ3, but he actually loses the ability to go SSJ2 via a brain illness. Also, Broly was just a figment of Vegeta's imagination and never really existed. He's been suffering from a tumor for at least a decade and Broly was his imaginary nemesis.

- SSJ God Fetus Pan, sponsored by Rick Santorum, because SSJ Godhood begins at conception! But remember, SSJ God is not a church-sanctioned higher power.

- Trunks and Mai's torrid love affair. Piccolo continues to disapprove of hand-holding. Trunks gets to second base, meanwhile. Goten hooks up with Pilaf and Shuu, heartbroken, ends his short, tragic life via autoerotic asphyxiation

- Kikuchi music

- Tons of lines for Masako Nozawa, and then no English dub ever.
Kentai wrote:Son Gokuu is a fascinating character anyway, because he is - at face value, anyway - an idiot savant. The victim of violent head trauma as an infant [...] he's a simple bumpkin with a fair share of brain damage who's natural talents to work out what's wrong compensate for his broad lack of common sense. But he's also a fighter, through and through [...] he fight until he has, in no uncertain terms, beaten his enemy on terms they can both acknowledge. He doesn't want to kill anyone, or even prove that he can win... he just wants to know he can. He's an ineffably charming bastard who's manly leanings were really incendental, and yes, the fact that he was voiced by a squeaky woman made the combination perhaps all the more charming.

Fanservice I can actually reference in my fan art. Videl's cute new look and great rack isn't nearly enough to work on.

I want future movies to be as fun as BoG. It was just straight-up fun for me. Not a pinnacle of the DragonBall mythos, but fun.

And that's all I've ever been into the franchise for is entertainment. I find the characters, the comedy, the drama, the stories (simple they may be), and the battles entertaining and fun, ever during the "darker" portions of the series.

Though whether or not future installments expand on the mythos, offer up amazing battles, or just kick back with Goku and friends, as long it's not boring and executed poorly like most of GT, I'll support it.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.
