I wanted to make a channel where Dragon Ball songs could be sung in English (gotta credit the initial idea of bringing singers together while taking the adaptation/producer route to Jurik from his Spanish Dubs). So, I chose zoozbuh on YouTube, this is a bit different compared to what he usually does, but when thinking of a singer that I thought could pull it off, he seemed like the proper choice. I will most likely not be performing any songs, unless I practice a bunch and am super confident in it. But, usually when it comes to song dubs, I'm not.
I did the initial adaptation while zoozbuh adjusted any parts he felt would work better with him. I think his changes made it better. He also managed to cover a Kageyama song well, that's not easy to do. Especially since Kageyama's style is uncopyable in English. So, even though he did his own thing, he knocked it out of the park (in my opinion of course).
In the first line I know 'uchu' is Universe, but to fit the beat better and to fit with the context of the song I went with 'world' as the substitute. In most places in the song, where ever an English word was in the original, it's in the same place in this version. The only one I couldn't get to match exactly was 'speed'. I always did a little nod to the original Japanese wherever 'sou' was, it just became 'so' in English, which in the context of this it means the same thing, haha.
Production Info:
English Adaptation: SSJ4 Furanki (El Diabeetus on YouTube), zoozbuh (He made some tweaks to fit him better, which I was fine with.)
Cover: zoozbuh
Producer: SSJ4 Furanki
Lyrics:
The world has limits, but you can change 'em like it's a heart's vibration.
The hope of a soul and courage are the keys to bring an innovation.
So, bravery is the way I will gain my place in history.
Just deal with the pain temporarily.
You want acceptance? Just being born is a bit of a special celebration.
To change and re-name the future will surely take some preparation.
This is the key we need to finding a real world for you.
Just gotta sometimes believe in miracles too.
A type of hidden strength that is used but not seen, this is what's called willpower!
With a speed that even time can't devour!
A flame burning brighter than any other, this is the light of willpower!
Dreams budding, a burning passion residing in you that will devour!
Innocent things shall always exist like gentle fascination.
Also, the irreplaceable feeling of a true infatuation.
So, this is a truth for you and even nearly everyone.
Just as I will protect peace 'til my life's done.
A prayer that is full of pure faith and truth, this is what is called willpower!
Now I must go and take my brand new chance to leap!
A wind that can get rid of a storm, this is what's called the light of willpower!
Let's start running towards a new and bright future that we can reap!
A type of hidden strength that is used but not seen, this is what's called willpower!
With a speed that even time can't devour!
A flame burning brighter than any other, this is the light of willpower!
Dreams budding, a burning passion residing in you that will devour!

Hero ~Song of Hope~ originally by Flow. I brought back zoozbuh from the Hikari no Willpower dub.
I don't necessarily think I'm the most suited vocalist for the song
But, we both wanted to keep the dual vocalist thing from the original.
So, I bit the bullet despite knowing this would be a challenging song to do since they get really high with the vocals.
I actually sang vocals about as high as the original, but I did a deeper/more comfortable vocals as well.
So, he mixed it with the deeper ones being the main and the higher becoming more of a back-up.
He also tweaked the lyric adaptation in places as well before finalizing the adaptation.
zoozbuh did the mixing, I'm glad he did, he managed to make my vocals not sound as bad (but even then...), haha!
As usual, I think he did a fine job with his parts. I think this is the first English dub of the song. If you exclude Flow's own English version.
I hope it doesn't sound bad,
I figured it would make more sense to add a new post to this existing thread instead of making a new one.
Lyrics:
In times of strife God has us ready to believe
Keeps on testing us to reach some clarity
All day, all night
You gotta take it all in stride, it'll be alright!
At first it'll feel like you'll wanna fight
It's like a symbol of glowing light
Oh yeah, all right!
The shining sun feels right
My courage gives me power!
It fills me with power!
We can rise above it all!
It doesn't matter how many times that we get thrown against the wall
So let your passion devour
See your growing power
Even the smallest dream can flower
You can never retreat, you're a hero!
Worries can't be seen, it must seem like there are none!
It feels nice to be embraced by everyone.
My wish, comes true!
It doesn't matter how much it ends up hurting me
Our days of fighting have only just begun
The flame's awakened, the melody goes on
Softly, swiftly, in your heart it burns so strong.
My energy give me power!
Fill me with power!
No rival stands up to me.
It doesn't matter how many times we fall, we'll keep landing on our feet
So let your passion devour,
your fists exert power
Even the smallest dream can flower
You can never retreat, you're a hero!
In this moment we will put our feet down firmly!
This pride will follow us to the future, certainly.
As long as we keep going the world will spin.
Let's send power in a moment of righteousness.
To those who have felt the power of the light around us, just keep going!
It doesn't matter how many times that we get hit, we know we're gonna win!
My courage gives me power!
It fills me with power!
Til my eyes are sparkling!
You can never retreat, you're a hero!
You can beat the tears, your chest has scars
Your feelings are overflowing, felt near and far
We want to go to the sky, dreams will come true
'Til tomorrow we'll go through.
You can beat the tears, your chest has scars
Your feelings are overflowing, felt near and far
We want to go to the sky, dreams will come true
So, til then here's a song of hope!

Doesn't Kanzenshuu have the english lyrics?
Why Dragon Ball Consistency in something such as power levels matter!

They do for Kimi ga Hero (You're a Hero), different song. I wish they had the English lyrics for Hero ~Song of Hope~, that way I know it would be a lot easier to make a good adaptation lyrically. I still like how it turned out, but with a more reliable translation it could have been even better. For Hikari no Willpower, the lyrics are here on Kanzenshuu.dbzfan7 wrote:Doesn't Kanzenshuu have the english lyrics?

Re: Hikari no Willpower / Hero ~Song of Hope~ [English Cover
I guess I didn't see it through the normal list. Huh, that's odd. But, comparing it with the adaptation. The adaptation doesn't seem to far off, other than changing "Wishes come true" to "My wish, comes true" and "Power up" due to hearing it by ear sounding like "wishing come true" and "power up" just didn't sound like "power up" to my ear and just doing the standard adaptation to make it fit the beat. Although maybe hearing that in the Brazilian Portuguese dub (for the wishes come true part) made me think it matched that in the Japanese version.dbzfan7 wrote:http://www.kanzenshuu.com/lyrics/ja-hero_kibou_no_uta/SSJ4 Furanki wrote:They do for Kimi ga Hero (You're a Hero), different song.
