Re: Music that reminds you of the old days?

One song instantly transports me back to the height of my Toonami fandom, and surprisingly, it's not from the dub score. Whenever I listen to "Tenkaichi Gohan," I'm 11 again. I remember the VHS tape of movie 01 that my parents gave me for Christmas. I remember noticing it was the "uncut" version and being scared to death that something inappropriate would pop up onscreen in front of my mom and dad. Gohan got inebriated and peed on Kuririn. Chi-Chi said "hell." I was both intrigued and worried. Then Goku started taking off his weighted training clothing. I thought he was going to take off everything, and yelled for everyone to close their eyes.

"Tenkaichi Gohan" brings me back to all of that. My first "real" DBZ experience. It was the first time I heard Kikuchi's music. The first time I heard Kageyama and MANNA's iconic theme songs. The first time I heard Masako Nozawa's voice (though I had no idea the lady singing would turn out to really be the voice of these characters).

As one of the first few tracks on the "Legend of DragonWorld" set (my first DBZ song purchase), "Aitsu wa" is a song that brings me back to the beginning of my fandom for the Japanese version. I specifically remember those same plucks you mentioned jumping back and forth between both sides of my car radio. That still remains one of my favorite vocal songs from the series.

I'd love to listen to a podcast episode in the same vein as the "Video Game Music" specials where we all talk about our favorite image songs.

This is another one that takes me back, especially Kikuchi's many instrumental versions of the song. Even more than "HEAD-CHA-LA," that song completely sums up what this series means to me.

Ahh, my bad. It was Hikari no Willpower, I was just mistaken on what generation of games it came from. ^_^; I definitely start feeling nostalgic whenever I hear it's opening though.

All of Kenji Yamamoto's work on the first three Budokai series. Faulconer's score for Dragon Ball Z. The Legacy of Goku II soundtrack (most were midis of Faulconer's score). The replacement score for Sparking Neo!!!.

This one's a bit recent but listening to the Kikuchi score reminds me of a year to a year and a half ago when I was a newcomer to the site. For some reason I find that nostalgic and view that period of my life as pretty cool since I was so new to the greater fandom that is Kanzenshuu.
