These actually look quite nice (from the outside, at least). Love the inclusion of the Kanzenban's spine art. I must say, I'm quite tempted to pick these up. I've started trucking through the
One Piece versions of these, and I do like how easy it is to read these and open them up, whereas with the Viz-Big Volumes, I'm scared of wrecking them by opening them too wide whilst trying to read the inside panels and they're quite heavy, so I don't like to take them around with me. I like how these 'omnibus' volumes are more condensed and I'm not afraid of tossing them around or taking them places, etc. Overall, I do like the idea of budget releases, but since I'm also a hardcore fan, I get stuck with these decisions all the time. I already own a decent chunk of the Viz-Big volumes too (if that wasn't obvious) Throw in the fact that these things are uncut and have cover art from the Kanzenban, and it just makes wanna cry since I can't really justify having both of them. The idea of having one set of Manga to read and one to just sit on the shelf sounds silly to me...so I guess I'm not that hardcore after all. I also plan on picking up the
Full Colour Comics next year, but those are different enough...perhaps I'll consider getting the "Dragon Ball" portion of the story since there's a lot more censorship going on in those (particularly the earlier volumes), but then Volume 16 will be thrown in with Volumes 1 and 2 of "DBZ" because they're sticking with the original---- ARGH, fuck you Viz.
Why make a budget release with all the stuff we want in a collector's edition?
