Some AKB48 members (pretend to) love the show.

Here's a real hardcore fan since Toonami  :

What does this have to do with anything? I can only hope this isn't your attempt to carry over your argument on what it means to be a "real" fan from the "hardcore" thread.

Of course.. as are most people in the U.S. We japanese fans are a minority here.

Remember, DBZ is only popular because of Toonami. For most people in the U.S., DBZ is the english dub with the Bruce Falcouner BGM.

I tried getting my friend into the japanese version, or at least the Kikuchi score, but nope, that's not DBZ to him. Which is fine, we just like a different version of the same show.

But... the subtitles are in English.
Lot of brothas don't care for reading subs, and will still yell "ENGLISH MOTHERF#$%ER!" at you.

You know not everyone acts like a Tarantino character in real life, right?

Yep. I was just paraphrasing the mindset.

You're an English dub fan too. So stop pretending to be this "true hardcore" fan because there isn't such a thing.

Goku didn't die in GT. The show sucked him off so much, it was impossible to keep him in the world of the living, so he ascended beyond mortality.

I always side eye the people who say "Now my kids/today's kids can experience what I did as a child!" Nigga, who gives a fuck about your childhood? You're an adult now and it was at least 15 years ago. Let the kids have their own experience instead of picking at a corpse.

So basically most of the "celebrities" in this topic are rappers from somewhere in US, not exactly known and to make matters worse they probably just recognise it for the English FUNimation dub.

I remember there's a rapper who also likes, well, made a song about it; Porta (Spanish rapper).

I'm a bit disappointed that these famousy people are just rappers overall.

That rap was horrendous and it contained several mistakes.

Bitch I look like Goku.

Also, I remember hearing something about Justin Timberlake being down with the franchise. Don't quote me on that though, I could be exactly incorrect.

Whatever your feelings on rap may be, I'd say Snoop Dogg/Snoop Lion/Calvin Broadus is a celebrity, no quotation marks needed.

I disagree. The show is intended a certain way and fans of the old FUNimation dub tend not to be fans of that. And so my conclusion follows.

Apparently I have to keep repeating this because some of you have a hard time comprehending.

So celebrities can't watch the show in their own language. T(tasha) a Korean celabrity from Texas told me when I met her a few years back that she watched dbz. Dont know how much truth there is to that

So, let me guess this straight, you are implying that just because some people like myself are fans of the old FUNi dub, they aren't true fans of DBZ?
If, so that is absurd, regardless of how "bad" the dub was, it pretty much got the main points across, it's not like the original Japanese was completely different i.e different villains, different plot etc, then I would understand.

I think that's what he means. I'm curious if he considers "not true fans" everyone who hasn't watched the series in Japanese or he only aims his criticism to Funi fans.

Never seen that one before. lol!
Someone translate this for me?

Also a random fact (and I've probably mentioned this on the forum a whole bunch of times), I used to translate for Jackie Chan. Worked on the Hong Kong DVD releases of two of his films, "The Myth" and "Rob-B-Hood" (titled "Robin-B-Hood" in the US). And the weird thing is, I learned how to read Chinese because I got so hooked on reading Dragon Ball. It's like...come to a full circle. Never really corresponded with Jackie directly myself. But we both have a messenger passing on our messages to each other. He's even offered to deliver this to me back in 2005.

And for those wondering, Jackie wrote my name "Tin-Lun" (天麟) in Chinese.
The world is your's.
