Dragonball GT is born due to a plot hole
I just remembered something that I found interesting. It has to do with DBGT. I was watching the end of DBZ and it was at the part where Dende wished that everyone on earth that wasn't evil, to be brought back to life. I then remembered that at the start of DBGT, Emperor Pilaf is present. He isn't a "good guy" at all In fact, he tried to conquer the world and has tried to harm people doing so. He wasn't revived at the end of DBZ because he is evil (well he shouldn't have been revived). How could I miss that? Has anyone else noticed this? I have never seen it mentioned anywhere at all online.

Oddly, I've heard this discussed many times...but I guess the board it was at doesn't have all that archived.DevilsAlwaysCry wrote:I just remembered something that I found interesting. But yeah, you're right, GT is a giant plothole, if only just for that.

Oh really? I am sorry for then posting about it if it is a well known fact. I just never heard about it. Thanks for not getting on my ass about it though. I wonder if anyone else didn't know about it though (like I didn't).Duo wrote:Oddly, I've heard this discussed many times...but I guess the board it was at doesn't have all that archived.DevilsAlwaysCry wrote:I just remembered something that I found interesting. Once you get down to the mistakes on the GT section, there's an essay worth of writing!

It's been mentioned here before, there was a bit of debate about whether or not Pilaf was really that bad, and if he might be considered 'good' because he's never really suceeded at doing anything really terrible.
The general concenous was "meh, GT..."

He may be a dumbass, but he did release Piccolo Daimao from containment (which in turn killed hundreds of people). It's kinda like selling drugs to someone, you may not kill them but you did help.Tsukento wrote:Go back and watch Dragon Ball. Pilaf is more of a goofball who "thinks" he's a badguy who can't even pull off being evil.

I think of Dragon Ball GT as an alternate reality, just like the Dragon Ball Z films. Dragon Ball and DBZ is one reality and all 13 DBZ films and DBGT is a different reality. The Dragon Fist, Trunks' sword, and a few other things point to a connection between the movies and DBGT. It's easier on my brain to think about GT this way.

Did Pilaf ever actually die? I don't recal it happening. Unless it was Piccolo Daimao, but I don't think he did it.
There is no better combination in the world than Dragonball, Cherry Pepsi, and Cheez-Its. It's a proven fact.

Either way Pilaf would have been killed by Majin Buu._Jrinu_ wrote: Did Pilaf ever actually die? I don't recal it happening. Unless it was Piccolo Daimao, but I don't think he did it.

Does anyone know if he was shown in hell when they were watching the Buu fight?

But ya know, If I was Enma and Pilaf showed up, I'd probably send the little twerp onto Heaven, because of how pathetic he is as a villian.

I really, really need to get back into the habit of posting.

At first I thought he did in the manga because for the longest time, I didn't notice the panel where they show they did survive being thrown out of the airship._Jrinu_ wrote: But wait...

Also the whole black star balls wouldn't work as if Piccolo could have been able to create D-balls before the split, he would've after refusing instead of going through the trouble to get Dende.

Re: Dragonball GT is born due to a plot hole
There's nothing that says he couldn't (I believe) either before his split or after his re-merger. What sense would it make for him to make a set of Dragonballs? He's always out on the front lines fighting so it'd be pretty easy for them to be lost again.Super Sonic wrote:At first I thought he did in the manga because for the longest time, I didn't notice the panel where they show they did survive being thrown out of the airship._Jrinu_ wrote: But wait...

I would say Pilaf is pretty evil, I mean, he tried to fry Gokuh and the gang in his oven room. Just because he's never very successful doesn't mean he's any less evil than other villains. He steals, tortures, and has hopes of oppressing all the poeple of the world. If that's not evil, what is?

Yeah that's what I thought. People that say he isn't evil is the same as saying a man who tried to rape a woman but wasn't successful, isn't evil (ofcorse, one is much more serious then the other, but it is the same idea).Mr. Announcer wrote:I would say Pilaf is pretty evil, I mean, he tried to fry Gokuh and the gang in his oven room. Well, this doesn't neccessarily make all of GT a plothole, just Goku's being turned into a kid... and all the other crap surrounding the Blackstar Balls... which is a fairly large portion of GT... >_<
And yes, when you think about it, Pilaf is more just mischievous than evil...
Oy, yeah, first post in Arizona wit' muh Aunt n' Uncle. It's hot over here. Too freakin' hot.

That is true, but none as significant as this one. All of GT would have never happened if not for this plot hole.Tanooki Kuribo wrote:This topic could go on forever. There are many many plot holes in Dragonball, Dragonball Z, and Dragonball GT. It's common for people to just point out GT because there was no corresponding manga.
