I'm sad to report, for the first time EVER Comic-Con reached maximum capacity and I was turned away after waiting 2 hours out in the hot California sun... No FUNimation or Shonen Jump panels for me... u_u

Actually, it appears that there are no more Ultimate Uncut editions, period. Volume 10 was due to be released on the 11th of this month but nothing ever showed up in stores. What we'll be getting from this point on appears to be just the season sets.

You can still buy the first nine discs (episodes 1-27) but that is all there is before the release of DBZ Season One. The first season set is said to have episodes 1-39 on it.

Of course, might I add, FUNimation did state they are planning on possibly changing the running time of the set. In other words it may have a lower episode count.

Ah, but could the season set not be getting a higher episode count? FUNimation has only said they are changing the run time so at this point it can be either higher or lower. Only the official press release will put our questions to rest. Speaking of which, when the hfil are they going to do this?

There are people who still long for this?
I was being sarcastic, I thought it was obvious that I wasn't serious. Oh well.

What does that mean? Cutting out episodes?

Less episodes per set (for example, 26 episodes instead of 39 in a set). More sets to be released.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I was wondering about this myself. I asked a few stores about this and I got odd answers. On the one hand, only Best Buy even had Volume 10 listed but they didn't carry it. Yet, all the stores were still taking preorders for Volume 11...which confuses me. Anyone have any insight on this?

NO. A set as in a "a set of DVDs containing a number of episodes released in one package", like most anime boxsets (especially FUNi's upcoming DBZ sets.)

The set we have known for a few months is going to go through some changes. The number of episodes will either be decreased or increased. The first season set is not due until February of next year.

They sold all of these starter boxes for the second half of the Vegeta Saga and they aren't even going to have the decency to finish releasing those?

That is a damned shame, and I for one am rather pissed off. I am the customer they milk the most out of all these years buying all the DVD releases individually, and this is how they thank me, just a few DVDs shy of the goal of completion?

They may as well just finish releasing the Ultimate Uncuts and milk that while they postpone the season sets. People like me would be pissed in that scenario too, but not as much as not being able to at least complete what we started over 4 years ago now.

FUNi's movie 13 release was also pushed back. Do you guys think that they might be doing some remastering of their own with the footage the have? Note: It would be pretty strange of them to release the DragonBox footage of the movie, since it's cropped; they're better off "remastering" the footage they already have.

And Bardock-EX, I suggest that you read through this entire topic so the rest of us won't have to repeat what was already said. It might seem like a lot of work, but it's better than sounding incompetent :).

Damn right! What the hell is FUNimation thinking?! The people who bought the pt. 2 of the Vegeta Saga, will now have an incomplete box set only with 2 DVD volumes. It's been almost 2 years since they had finished re-dubbing the first 2 seasons, and it has been well over a year since the first volume of these so-called "Ultimate Uncut Special Edition" DVD had come out. And throughout this whole time, FUNi had released only 27 episodes. Urgh. :x

I dunno, if I was in your position, I'd be desparately trying to get rid of my UUE release DVDs, even if I had the opportunity to complete the set, simply because it's more cost effective. It's what I ended up doing for Evangelion. I was 3 discs into the Platinum release when the slim-case set came out, so I ended up selling the discs I had and just buying the slim case set, as it was much cheaper than buying the rest of the series individually. I think there are quite a few people with UUE DVDs right now who probably feel the same way, so if Funimation released the rest of the UUE's now, they would probably lose more money than they gain. Yes, it sucks for everyone who already has UUE DVD's and wants to finish what they started, but it's a financially sound decision for Funi. If they want to make money, the choice is either to stop UUE production and get the Dragon Box footage out there, or ignore the chance to release Dragon Box footage completely, and simply keep release the lower quality UUE discs. I know which I prefer.

That's what I did. I sold off all of the FUNi DBZ DVDs I have (w/ the exception of the movies, specials & GT), since I heard of this boxset release. Now I have a large sum of money I'm saving for the "remastered" season boxsets. It's a shame that I had to buy all of those DVDs just to have a better version come out, but you know, I'd rather have the boxsets w/ cleaned up video, more eps. per set that saves space, and a overall nicer package.

I just cut my losses over the cancellation of the UUE singles (which I was also buying), and decided to move on.
