Critically Panned Dragon Ball Games That You Like

Several Dragon Ball games have gotten less-than-stellar reviews, as I'm sure you all know. Do you actually like any of those games?

I like Battle of Z, even though it's about to enter the red zone on Metacritic.

In fact I pretty much enjoyed every game I played except GT Transformation. Even UB22 and Final Bout. Especially in build-up/build-up battle

I like Dragon Ball Z: Sagas but for the same reasons that critics panned the game for.

I gotta admit, I got a soft spot in my heart for Final Bout. When it was first available in America, I jumped right on it and I was hooked. Despite the sluggish controls & awkward voice acting (especially Vegeta's), I played the crap out of that game and enjoyed every minute of it.

I love the soundtrack, and I consider it easily one of the best soundtracks ever featured in a Dragon Ball game. Don't judge me.

Most of these had mixed reactions (except Budokai 3 and the Tenkaichis, those were well-received especially the former). The only ones you've mentioned that are generally disliked are UB22 and Final Bout.

I honestly almost never look at gaming reviews, partially because I'm not the most hardcore gamer to begin with, but also because just because they don't like a game doesn't mean I won't - especially when it comes to show-based games that a lot of them don't really get fair shakes. That said though, I'm pretty big on Budokai Tenkaichi 3, even though a lot of people seem to not really care for it anymore. I'll still pop it in and play it every once in a while. The gameplay may not be very different from character to character, yes, but I still have fun just with the mass amount of characters to choose from.

That and it never, ever gets old running as Arale. I don't even fight. I just run. And hear the Dr. Slump theme in my head. Fun stuff.

I've also been known to pop in Sagas at least once every few years and give it a replay. It's not perfect, and I swear I can't do the Nappa fight without him glitching and somehow attaching to my character and flailing at me, but the novelty of how 'different' a game it is does make it worthwhile every once in a while. Kinda.

Not sure if it was panned, but I see a lot of fans disliking Legacy of Goku for the GBA. I played that game for countless hours. Never really got bored of it.

I loved Sagas the first time I played it, although I hated that it froze right after I beat it. Battle of Z's fun as hell and Ultimate Tenkaichi's nice to look at.

I've always enjoyed Super Butouden 3 for the super famicom, that seems to get a bad time of it in Japan. I see where they're coming from though, the lack of a story mode was kind of disappointing when compared to how good the last two games story modes were.

I enjoy Supersonic Warriors 2, but I can see why people didn't like it that much. It was pretty much Supersonic Warriors 1.5 with Broli and Coola.

I actually enjoyed DBGT: Transformation when I was younger, it was one of those games that just made time fly by.

I finish Transformation in one shit down and I pay $30 for it. The game won't be so bad if I didn't finish it in two and half hours. I guess Web Foot wanted to do something new then make a 4th LOG game. Transformation sold poorly that they push the sequel from late 2005 to 2006 then cancel it. I guess that game is the reason why Web Foot never made another DB related game again.

I have fond memories of playing DBZ:Sagas with my friends. May have been as buggy as hell, but I absolutely had a blast playing at the time.

Also, I don't think the LOG games had bad reception(Well, not 2 and Buu's Fury anyway).

I don't remember it getting bad scores, but i absolutely loved DB: Advanced Adventure for GBA. What an awesome game!

GT: Transformation was ok, but the unlocking system was annoying. It almost felt like a smartphone game, with ridiculous amounts of points needed to unlock everything.

I always enjoyed Sagas. It was a change of pace from the first 2 Budokais. I agree it's not the best DBZ game out there, and they could have done a much better job at making an adventure game, but it was a decent effort and I still pop it in my Gamecube and play it. That was another thing about it. Why was the GCN version $10 cheaper?

I liked both Ultimate Battle 22 & Final Bout. I agree that the controls for both are slow, sloppy, and unresponsive, but I don't care. For some strange reason that I can't explain, I love them and am guilty of playing them for hours on end.

I bought Transformation and loved it. Again it was a nice change of pace from the fighting game formula.

Finally, being a fan of fighting games like Street Fighter and King of Fighters, I really really like Super DBZ. Despite being a 3D fighter rather than a 2D plane, the controls felt very familiar and natural to me. Since I was always naturally pretty good at these kinds of fighters, I wound up playing this one by myself. My friends only liked the Budokais and Tenkaichis.

Seeing as to how I'm a weirdo that likes all these bad DBZ games, I kinda wanna try Taiketsu. I've heard that's the worst DB game ever.

Buu's Fury was received poorly by critics due to it's difficulty (or lack thereof).
