Disabling the Drop-in?
I was wondering if it is possible for us to have an option to disable the drop-in on this forum? It's getting a little bit irritating because it gets in my way of reading the posts.
While I am at it, could you also please check why the forums doesn't work on my Android phone anymore? The website is having same issue for a whole year, and now that the forum seems to be direct linked to the website, it apparently becomes a problem too. I can't have an access to both now, and I would be appreciated if you can look into it. Thanks.

Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
One part I can at least address:
"my Android phone" literally tells us nothing.
What kind of phone? Which version of Android? Which browser are you using? Which version of which browser are you using?

Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
I would say that the problem is being on a two-year-old phone running a three-year-old operating system, but my iPhone 4S has had no trouble with the forums on any iOS version it's run....DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:T-Mobile myTouch Q, version 2.3.6. Could you explain to us in more detail what happens? Does it throw up an error message? Does it "finish" with nothing actually loaded? Do you get part of the layout but no content? Content with no layout? Something else...?

Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
Well, a couple things. Firstly, the scrolling header is scripted to disappear when your browser's resolution drops below 1000 pixels in width. When I view the forum on my Samsung Galaxy S4 it doesn't appear at all, which is what it's programmed to do. You can even try resizing the browser on your computer to test it. You may need to clear your cache if the header is still showing. By looking at your phone specs, your resolution is 320x480 pixels, so theoretically you shouldn't be seeing it on your phone.
I guess the second part is, if the forum doesn't work at all on your phone, then why is the header an issue? Also, I have no idea what you mean by now that the forum is directly linked to the website. I feel like you're having some issues, but I have no idea what they are exactly.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:While I am at it, could you also please check why the forums doesn't work on my Android phone anymore? Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
For what it's worth, the drop-in bothers me a bit as well and - if it's easy enough - I would like to have the option to disable it. I can't comment on the tech issues, as I don't browse Kanzenshuu on my phone.

I'm just curious, but might I ask what the resolution is on your computer?

Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
It bothers me as well. My screen resolution is 1920x1200.
Making it optional would be appreciated.

Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
Would you believe me if I said I couldn't tell you? I'm not normally this tech illiterate, but on my MacBook Pro 13" w/ retina display it doesn't flat-out tell you what the resolution is and only allows you to switch between four - unless there's some hidden settings I'm missing, which is very possible.

Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
Sorry for not being clear. I was talking about two entirely different things. For the header, I mean when I'm using the computer. For the website/forum, it's my phone. I'm using both computer and phone when I'm accessing Kanzenshuu. For some weird reason, I couldn't access to Kanzenshuu as a whole anymore. When I try to access to it, I get back to my phone's desktop almost immediately after my browser got done loading the website and forum.Hujio wrote:Well, a couple things. Edit: That's weird. When I use Google Chrome, there's drop-in on this message board. But when I use Internet Explorer, there's no drop-in.

Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
Whoah. As I'm reading this thread, I suddenly noticed the header WAS gone!
But I do want to say that, while I enjoy the idea of it being there, I do wish the little pull-down tab was the default setting rather than the whole thing. It seems I can only choose between it being there or not when I'm at the top of the screen and wouldn't need it anyway. I would prefer the option to send it back up into the ether and pull it back down if and when I need it.

Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
You just had to post that as I finished scripting that functionality.
I hope this solution works for everyone, because I don't plan on changing it again. I think it's a fair compromise. If you click the pull down tab, the header bar will appear. If you scroll, it will go away. It's there for those that may use it, but not too obtrusive for those that find it annoying.

I'm not sure why you couldn't access Kanzenshuu as a whole, but it appears that you can now (I'm assuming). For your phone, you may want to try using a different browser. It sounds like your browser is crashing, but it's hard to tell from your description. The older default Android browser may not be able to handle Javascript very well, or it just doesn't have enough memory. It's hard telling without actually looking at your phone as you access the site.DragonBalllKaiHD wrote:Sorry for not being clear. I was talking about two entirely different things. Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
Still having same problem. I guess I will have to deal with it for time being. I wouldn't want to give you more burden because you are already busy as-is with the website and Wiki stuff. Thanks for changing the script for the header.Hujio wrote:You just had to post that as I finished scripting that functionality.![]()

I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!
Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
I see no change - browsing the forum on: Android 4 (Samsung S2 with several newest versions of browsers: the built-in "Internet", Opera Mobile and Skyfire) and Bada (Dolphin) is still horrible due to the several floating things (Website, Wiki, Podcast, Login, Register, Rules, Paypal, facebook, twitter, google+) that take up more then half of the screen. They appear every time I zoom in - the pull down tab is there only when the page is not zoomed in at all, then, when I zoom a little bit (the text is still unreadable) the bar appears and then it morphs into several floating things that obscur the whole text.Hujio wrote:I hope this solution works for everyone, because I don't plan on changing it again. Couldn't you just make this bar off by default for those who access the forum via a mobile? It's quite simple to base such stuff upon the user agent and would make the life so much better.
By the way I dislike this bar (even the small, pull down version - I find the fact that there is something sticking at the top of the screen and changing based on my position on the websit extremely irritating) also on my desktop computer but there it is for me simply a matter of stylistic choice. But on my mobile phone (which I use quite regularly to read the site), it's a matter of being or not being able to read at all. Please change it.
Re: Disabling the Drop-in?
One other slight issue with the drop-in menu I've noticed is that on the main site, it ends up blocked by the WordPress bar. Like so:

Pretty sure that's just you because of your admin status, but it's something we can look at. You might even be able to disable that bar itself. I think the rest of us did, but that was two years ago
