Thanks brother it looks awesome! I dunno I would want to get this though or not...it'd have to come down a little bit more in price.

Yeah the price is crazy. I bought it when it first came out and I know it was expensive, but I think Rightstuf had a deal and I think I paid like $40 for it.

If you have the original DVDs, it comes down to whether you want the packaging and new book. Regardless of the quality, I feel that with something like this, you'd want it to go back in time and watch what you used to watch. Well, you used to watch the quality that the original DVDs had (I think lol).

The only benefits of the RtD set are the previews, and the edited movie 3. Otherwise, the footage has these weird very out of focus patches that are not in the Pioneer DVDs. I'd only recommend it if you really want the edited movie 3.

Just look at the bottom of his turban and his collar. Really out of focus and blurry, whereas it's relatively sharp on the Pioneer disc.

Even with that blurriness the RtDE DVD screenshot looks better because it's not too saturated and seems to have improved picture quality, as well as colours too.

Look at Piccolo's right part of his neck and compare that shot and you'll see the RtDE has more detail, and also, the Pioneer has a "rainbow" effect whereas on the RtDE it's gone.

I'd also like to add to the list of things that make this set worth owning, not only does the set have the NEP's and edited movie 3, the RTD set is the only official home release that contains the original broadcast versions of the first 3-4 episodes which actually used words like death and die back when the FUNi/Saban dub first aired back in "96, so if you want the original versions of these episodes then I'd recomend picking the RTD set up.
If anyone has any of the DB/DBZ/DBGT or Maho Tsuaki Sally Japanese single DVD's that they'd be interested in selling send me a PM and I'll see if we can work something out. ;).

I'm still annoyed at myself for not knowing the RtD set was on Amazon for, what was it, $30 during Christmas? I've been tempted to pick it up for a while, but I would've bought it immediately for that price.

Part of me has always wondered if FUNi considered doing the same thing for their in-house dub, with the original broadcast voice recordings and NEPs. Maybe call it the "Krillin's in the House Edition".

They should definitely do more Rock the Dragon type releases with the remaining edited, in-house dub episodes. Those versions have never been released on DVD, as far as I know.

Edited Dub-Only DVDs exist of most of the episodes. And the editted dub VHS's were the first fully consistent release of the series in the US. They're already widely available.

People nowadays prefer to own media either digitally (DRM says hi), on DVD or on Blu-ray.

Cassettes are really for the nostalgic fans/collectors because you also have to take into consideration the amount of space needed, a cassette box takes like the space of 3 slim-DVD cases or so.

You're positive? As in, it doesn't just say that in the menu, that's what the title card is, even? Because there are rumors that the very first run of that episode was called "The Relentless Recoome."

Yeah, that bothers me as hell, too. That must have been caused by the slight zooming in for cropping the black bars on the sides, which was obviously unnecessary.

I suppose it's just a rumor then, nothing more...

I must also thank you for giving me the disc number.

I'm just curious about something here. Which version of Dragon Ball Z: The Tree of Might is on this set?
It says the Movies 1-3 are in it, but I can't get it specified which one.
The edited 3-part Ian Corlett version?
Or the uncut Peter Kalamis version?
Now available on Twitter.

The Internet summed up in four words.
"This sucks. Make more."

Films 1 & 2 uncut with Kikuchi's score, and Film 3 with Shuki's score (edited version).

They could've offered both versions of the third film but we were lucky enough to get a DVD release of the edited version alone.
