I thought GT came before DBZ when I first got into Dragon Ball.

My first exposure to GT was in some Pojo DBZ guide, and it had a picture of Vegetto in the GT summary, so I thought that Vegetto was in GT.

Edit: This guide, actually. Image

DUUUUUUUUDE...you have no idea how much nostalgia you just sent me through. I was seriously just sent blasting back to 6th grade or so. I had (well, have, technically) that guide! That thing was like...my freaking bible for the series for a good many years. I'm sure a lot of it was incorrect, but it was still my first major look into just how huge this franchise was and how much there was to it that I hadn't yet seen. Man, those were fun times in a way, when everything about the series was still 'new' to my eyes.

I technically still have that book, but it's kind of scattered about in a few different folders I think. I read the thing so often back then that it just completely fell apart over the years.

Same story here :P I had both that one and the Yugioh one that covered the manga up until Joey's duel with Marik. Great stuff.
As for inaccuracies, I think it messed up some of the names of Bojack's men, (I think the Kogu/Gokua thing was in there.) Can't remember anything else though. And it kinda-sorta-not really taught me how to play the card game (which I promptly forgot, and am now totally incapable of playing :P

Heh, I never had any other Pojo guides unfortunately, but as far as unofficial DBZ things, I also ended up with this that I also still have.

Now that one is definitely full of misinformation, and I dunno if I could ever bear reading it again nowadays, but it was a fun enough read at the time. As far as as the card game goes though, I learned that more or less from the GBA game. :P

...And now I'm depressed thinking of how much money I wasted over time on buying those damned cards. Nostalgia, why must you be a double-edged sword?

I also had that, but I lost it somehow. At least, I think it was that. I actually remember it being called "Pojo's Dragon Ball", without the Z, but covering both series.

I saw DB first before I saw DBZ. So I thought that there was a Dragon Ball A - Y and I remember trying to track them down  .

I remember that book! I hired it out from my library years ago. I remember it being incredibly strange. I actually intended to hire it out from my library again for laughs, but it's no longer in their catalogue. Might have spared me from some painful reading.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

 Wait, so were both Vegeta AND Yamcha (somehow) Trunks' father(s)?

As for my own story, I started watching the DBZ dub on TV somewhere in the Freeza saga, and whenever characters mentioned "the next dimension" I thought it was a euphemism for Hell. At that point in the story, I was seeing Vegeta running around killing people and talking about sending them to the next dimension, so I actually thought it was edgy to even be implying that someone was saying "Go to Hell!" in a kid's show. I had missed the part about the good guys also going to the other dimension, so I didn't realize it was a silly death cover up until I read DBZ Uncensored.

Hearing of cardass things and thinking it had to do with butts. Another is from my first anime convention. I saw an older Gohan cosplayer in an orange gi, but since it was before CN and the dvds got to those eps I called him Yamcha and he then corrected me. I was really into avoiding spoilers so sometimes would see things and mistake them. Similarly due to seeing Sai cosplayers from Naruto, I was surprised to learn he was a guy. (Midriff-baring male characters tend to almost always be cosplayed by women instead of men).

I thought Enma's name was Mr. Satan, since he pretty much runs the Otherworld (barring the Kais which render him useless), similar to how Satan runs Hell in Christian culture (that said, Enma is more identifiable as the St. Peter of Dragon Ball). At one point I also thought that Freeza was the final villain.

Thought that SSJ Goku would have lost to Freeza if Freeza had not been beaten up in his prior forms.

Then...this is weird thread for you to make a post in.

When I was a kid, I thought there were three movies with Coola in them...'Cooler's Revenge, 'Revenge of Cooler' and 'Return of Cooler'.

Yeah, I have no idea either... :eh:

For a couple of years I thought that Goten was named Goku in honor of his dead father despite the fact that they said Goten every time he was mentioned.

I remember, once, how I thought Bruce Faulconer was NOT, in fact, a lying, cheating scumbag, let alone someone who was capable of producing the vast amount of incredible songs that the FUNI dub had.

Nowadays, thanks to Scott Morgan, I know better :D !!

Well, at least you (unintentionally) guessed the title of the TFS Cooler movie title XD

I would have gladly taken 3 Cooler movies over 3 Broly movies though.

I thought Goku's other name was "Caixalote" (or Caxalote? I dunno) from the Portuguese dub of the Broli films that's what he's called, but then later found out it's actually Kakarroto.

There's just so many mistakes that the PT dub has that the list would be too long.

Cachalote, originated from the French Dub, means Sperm Whale, always puts a smile on my face when I hear it.

When I was a kid I always tought that the Dragon could grant 3 wishes at any point of the series, then later watched the series completely and realized he could only after the Cell arc.
