To my suprise, DBKai had the VA's corrected. While the acting suck, (still does) at least naming was right this time. It was eventually cancelled due to poor ratings I guess.

The most bizarre thing is they hardly covered 10 episodes. Goku was just training with King Kai & b4 he could even start his fight, they randomly cancelled off the show. Useless garbages...
Whoa, this sounds like a dub-nightmare.

Still do you have any recorded footage of this?
Sorry, while I dont have any footages of the series which aired originally (1997-2004), I own almost complete set of DBZ movies by Speedy Dub. Badass I know...

I was about 3 or 4 when I first started watching the show, I only ever managed to catch little bits of it here and there unfortunately. Although when I managed to work around the time slot I saw the Garlic Jr and early Android saga the whole way through, which is why they're my favourite arcs.

Age 6 in 2002.
It is clear that sometime in Mark Satan's life, he acquired the dragon balls and called upon shenlong to grant him immortality.

I was 7. Crazy to think I've been watching it for 15 years.

Around 8 or 9 in 2001 back when Cartoon Network UK still had the Toonami afternoon programming block instead of being it's own channel. Imperfect Cell saga w/ the Ocean dub. Good memories.

However old I was when DBZ was on the syndicated block as Ronin Warriors and Samurai Pizza Cats.

I was about 11 or 12 in 2001, I think it was? Didn't really get into DBZ until the fad was starting to pass. I think I caught one or two episodes of season 2 or 3 earlier and dismissed it as being dumb, but I got into it right around when Imperfect Cell was airing on Cheez TV here.

I was around 2-3 years old. The original DB was on TV during that time, and I watched it until the end of Z.
James Teal (Animerica 1996) wrote:When you think about it, there are a number of similarities between the Chinese-inspired Son Goku and that most American of superhero icons, Superman. Both are aliens sent to Earth shortly after birth to escape the destruction of their homeworlds; both possess super-strength, flight, super-speed, heightened senses and the ability to cast energy blasts. But the crucial difference between them lies not only in how they view the world, but in how the world views them.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. The more down-to-earth Goku has no illusions about being responsible for maintaining social order, or for setting some kind of moral example for the entire world. Goku is simply a martial artist who’s devoted his life toward perfecting his fighting skills and other abilities. Though never shy about risking his life to save either one person or the entire world, he just doesn’t believe that the balance of the world rests in any way on his shoulders, and he has no need to shape any part of it in his image. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

I was 7 years old, and I remember this because I remember discussing it with people in second grade. It took until I was 11 years old to find out about the manga and start reading that (and as such when I first saw the earlier stuff). My first exposure to the franchise was getting a Goku trading card out of a K-Zone magazine and being intrigued by it, then seeing the first episode of Z on TV shortly after.
I'm re-watching Dragon Ball GT in full on my blog. Check it out if you're interested in my thoughts on the series as I watch through it!

5 years old in 1999, tuned into an episode of Goku saving Gohan from Nappa on Cartoon Network.

Wow, same here. Might've even been 2000, actually...whenever it was, it was definitely before Lord Slug came out in NZ.

Just counted and it had to be about the autumn of 2000 when DB started airing in Poland. So I was 12 then (or more precisely 11 since my birthday is on the 26th of December).

3 or 4... I'm not sure if I started watching at the beginning of the Portuguese airing or later...

Children! This thread is filled with people who were children when they started watching this children's TV show.

Myself, I was a mature lady of 13 when I saw my first episode of Dragon Ball in 1996. But I didn't get into the series at that time, I just happened to see a single episode because my friend and I were staying up all night to watch Sailor Moon at 6AM (Dragon Ball happened to air before it). I started watching Dragon Ball Z syndicated on Saturday mornings the following year, which is when my fandom really started.

I had watched some of the Boo Arc when I was little but I never really got into it as a lad. I started to get into the series when my friend let me borrow his VizBig editions for the Dragon Ball manga. :P

Edit: forgot to mention my age  I was 14 yrs old.
