Add a Report User button for profiles
I was wondering if it would be possible to implement a report button on member profiles? This would be intended for reporting users who have made multiple warning-or banworthy posts in multiple parts of the forum, and these reports would include quotes from each "area of interest," while the report button on each post would still be used if a member only wanted to report one specific instance of such material.

Re: Add a Report User button for profiles
While I'm sure it's something we could do, I don't think it's the way we would like to handle reporting users. The current system works just fine for moderators, as we can already easily keep track of user post warnings in the moderator panel. If we feel a user is consistently breaking the rules, then we handle it from there.

I tend to agree with the above. Providing that sort of an option almost begs to be abused.
Better to focus on self-moderation and leave general issues to the administrators than suddenly give everyone an option to "moderate" everyone else. It would only end up creating new problems for the moderation team.

I stopped reporting posts since apparently that's just a 'whine'.
There's a number of users who have too many posts to report individually. A single report button would at least encourage a moderator to skim through a person's posts and see why they were reported as a user rather than just an individual post.

Re: Add a Report User button for profiles
There's just nothing about reporting an entire profile that benefits the administrative/moderation staff in any way. We're going to have to refer to specific posts anyway, so all that would do would be add extra steps / clicks without providing exact, specific, explicit, quick-glance information we need to see if anything needs to be taken any further.
Additionally, just because you report something doesn't mean action will be taken. We might disagree on principle with you. We might take it offline with someone. We're almost certainly never going to follow-up with the person REPORTING because it's no longer any of their business.
And honestly, if it's something on the level of needing to report an entire profile, you can be guaranteed we already know about whatever it is you're going to tell us.
Thankfully we don't really have situations like this, and when we do, a little clean-up job services everything just fine.
